Hello, I would like to make a feature request for alerts. Over the weekend a significant portion of campus lost power, generating an overwhelming flood of device down email notifications. Would it be possible add an option to hold off sending notifications until the current Alerting process has run, and then send a digest or summary of all devices sending alerts? Retain historic data

Dear Experts, Hope all is well with you. Need your valuable advice, I have the below situation. # Physical DC movement done. # Change in Transit provider and change in IP address of AR's. # Polling was disabled before the physical move for AR's and N/W devices. # After physical move by mistake polling was enabled for the AR's, this has caused the loss of historic data captured for AR's by overwriting new data. Hi All, Today we had some issue's with our server. Upgraded the distro to ubuntu 18.04 new php new apache2. Got everything back to work but getting this message on the top left side of the browser. Ignore "Status" sensors

It would be awesome if we could turn alerting for individual "Status Indicators" off the same way we can for normal sensors. We have a few problematic hosts with sensor issues, for example a dead RAID battery on a machine that is getting decomm'd in a few weeks. Unfortunately this means that every day (re-alert interval) we get alarms for these hosts for the same issues. I'd love to be able to just turn those specific Indicators off, without having to remove the whole host from that Alert Checker, as we do still want to know if anything else is wrong with the box. Same with the reoccurring alerts, we want to leave those on for all devices. ________________________________ Spencer J. Device group membership in alerts?

I've got a usecase to have the group names that a device is a member of passed down to the alerts, specifically Pagerduty. On the PD side, I can route incidents based on arbitrary details, and if I had group membership I could say "If device.groups contains "Network" route to XXX", instead of having to build a unique alert check for every group. The mocked up SQL query is SELECT group_name FROM groups WHERE group_id IN (SELECT group_id FROM group_table WHERE entity_type = 'device' AND entity_id = ?); Any chance that information can be made available? Can anyone please assist me, I am trying to make a backup of my Observium installation to move it to a "bigger" system / machine, I installed the application to see how it worked and to test features, needless to say that I love it, and have subsequently set it up to monitor my entire WISP network. However, I unfortunately did not pay much attention to the system's specifications, as it was not initially intended to be a permanent deployment, not knowing what to expect or that it would turn out to be such a wonderful tool. SNMP Max Repetitons enabled - some modules takes longer time to poll

Hello, We recently enabled max-rep to improve our Observium installation. And it did reduce polling time for most modules. But we see some module had significant increases. Specifically the poller modules for cisco eigrp, cef and cbqos and the bgp poller also seems to have increased somewhat. Has anyone seen this behavior ? Where should be begin to look? PPPoE Interfaces Deleted

Hi guys, Please if anyone could offer some advice or guidance I would really appreciate it. I recently deployed Observium in my network for monitoring purposes, everything is working great, better than ever expected, except for the following: Each time a PPPoE client interfaces reconnects, the previous data is deleted, interface is deleted and the graphs and usage data start fresh from the time of the new connection. Is there any way of setting up the Observium installation to retain previous session data and usage and just have it "carry on" recording data each time the PPPoE session reconnects? sysContact-->Observium Contact

Is it possible to use a device's sysContact (Either from SNMP or an override) to tie that to a specific observium contact, or is that for the email transport only? My use case is that I want different devices to go to different pagerduty integrations, and the only way I can see to do that right now is to build different alert checks for each set, with the correct PD "Contact" associated with that checker. Hi I am trying to send alert mail for any device down/port down status only when it down and in an interval. But getting a problem that Observium send the alert report with all down port for an active device which overwhelmed my inbox. Not able to connect to SVN / update

I just renewed my observium license, which was out of date for a while. Trying to run svn update now but can't make a connection to the server from my Observium machine. I can connect fine from a machine on a different network, which is weird. IP of Observium machine: 216.27.95.80 Username: tempeh-170154 Tried both svn and a plain CURL, with and without --username and --password. Any thoughts?

How to diagnose failing ldap

So I had the server working with mysql login, but I'm struggling with getting the ldap authentication to work. I copied the example out of the instructions, but every time I enter the username/password, the website just resets. I tried going to http://fqdn/debug, but it just tells me that the cache is disabled in the config, which it is. Unfortunately I can't find any debug logs, or entries in any logs that would help to isolate the issue. Default port for web-access

Hello everyone, I am totally new to Observium and has found the app is very useful. I installed Observium using the automated method, first on a VirtualBox to test out the features. So far everything has worked for me (yay.) I am planning to install the app on the actual production server, running Ubuntu 18.04 server, latest updates and all However, on the production server, we have already Freeradius which use mysql and phpMyAdmin to maintain the database. These are using the default port 80 I tried to find where I can change the default port at the installation but I could not find anything. If I change the default port in the /etc/apache2/ports.conf (and subsequent in the virtualhost), would that change my Freeradius server default port as well? My second question, is there a command line that I can use to reset the admin username/password? If we forget the admin password, how could we get back to the program? So if anyone here has run both engine on the same server, please shred a light on this for me? Thank you all you guys, and sorry if this question is a nob! Hello! We have this nice status-graph in observium: [cid:image001.png@01D61338.1A381E30] Is it possible to get an output of a procentage of used user-ports? In my example I have 17/27 = 63% utilization of ports. I dont want to count in ports that are shutdown, often trunk or sfp-ports. Vlan interfaces /port-channels and so on is also counted as UP, but I dont really care about that. Regards Fredrik

Observium on CentOS 8

Has anyone had any luck installing Observium on Centos/RHEL 8 yet? And is there any plan to support it in the future? I'm trying to do so and not getting any errors, but I've also been unable to get the graphing to work. The only packages I've been unable to install are php-sodium and MySQL-python, but I got the impression they weren't absolutely necessary from the basic software requirements. Using Observium after moving VM

Hello all, Been scratching my head on this one. All I did is move the Observium VM from one network to another (closed). I cannot seem to figure out why I cannot add new hosts. No firewalls in the way. SNMP verified running on the host. Hosts are pinging each other. Is there a command to verify what is wrong between Observium and a host and why it's not adding? I am using public as the SNMP community name. One thing that does seem odd is this message when trying to add a host. No reply on given community *** using v2c, it showing the 3 asterisks versus it saying public. Any suggestions would be awesome! Leo

Apache dies with Segmentation Fault

Hi, we are currently using Observium CE 19.8.10000 as a test installation to monitor part of our switch/router infrastructure (currently about 290 devices, mostly Cisco). From time to time we have problems accessing the UI, the web browser just answers "Page does not work - observium did not send an answer - ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE". When I check the error.log in /var/logs/apache, I find lots of lines like ... How to exclude temperature sensors from virtual machines?

Hi We are using Observium Professional: 20.2.10301 (rolling) Some of our VMs (ESXi) have temperature sensors shown in Observium (either green 100deg. or red 0deg.). This doesn't make any sense and i am searching for a way to disable this. The strange thing is that this happens only for some of our VMs (regardless of the distribution). An Event Log annoyance

Hello, I'm currently running Observium 20.4.10353(rolling) in my test (home office) environment. I had to restart everything 2 days ago when I brought in a new desk and rearranged. I'm monitoring 4 devices: a server (running observium), a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall, a Cisco wireless access point, and an APC UPS with Web/SNMP Management card. Everything is working fine since the restart, except that every 5 minutes I get a new entry in the Event log telling me about how my ASA rebooted; I'm attaching a screenshot. That's the only device that's showing up in the event log. How can I convince observium that it doesn't need to keep telling me about it? Issues with IP SLA

Hello experts, Need some help to understand how observium handles IPSLA probes links. We have a fully working weathermap with IP sla information (jitter, echo, etc) all nice with nodes and links. Links are configured this way: LINK A-B INFOURL /graphs/type=sla_jitter/id=10495/ OVERLIBGRAPH /graph.php?height=100&width=512&id=10495&type=sla_jitter&legend=no INBWFORMAT {link:this:bandwidth_in:%0} OUTBWFORMAT {link:this:bandwidth_out:%d} BWLABELPOS 50 50 TARGET gauge:../../rrd/router_A/sla_jitter-cisco-rttmon-mib-1100020-LMR_IO.rrd:rtt:rtt NODES Chicago Washington BANDWIDTH 34 Now the problem that we have is that when observium server loses connectivity with router_A (i.e. network outage, check below) It will generate a new ID for the link to the graphic hence we have to go to the editor and update INFOURL and OVERLIBGRAPH ID values. As shown below the ID is 12961 for SLA 1100020 whereas above the ID configured was 10495. Traffic Comparison widget wrong after moving interfaces between routers

Folk, I recently added some new routers and then moved interfaces from the old to the new. The transit and peering graphs picked up the new interfaces just fine, but the Traffic Comparison widget on the front page hasn’t. Any ideas on getting it to update? Observium pro 20.3.10324 (stable). I’ve tried deleting and re-adding the widget, and it’s had a discovery run since the change. Thanks, -Darrell

Alerting switch stack status

I want to alert whenever one switch in a stack drops out. And I need help composing a checker. Specifically, I have stacks of cisco 2960-X switches linked via flex stack modules such that they appear as a single switch for purposes of ping'ing or snmp. On occasion, one switch in the stack will fail, but the rest of the stack stays on-line and continues to respond to pings, etc. I believe I want to watch the Status entity: Stack is redundant CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB::cswRingRedundant.0 https://mibs.observium.org/mib/CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB/#cswRingRedundant Each stacking module has two cables and one runs cables such that all the switches are in a big loop. cswRingRedundant is a boolean that indicates that such a loop is intact. So it will be False if a switch dies or simply if a cable is unplugged (also a desirable alert). Port group and aggregated graphs

Hi I added a port group to be able to have an aggregated graph but the graph does not seems to aggregate the ports usage in one graph. See the attached pictures as reference. Site1 have 137Mbit in and 160Mbit out and a spike at over 200Mbit Site2 have 38Mbit in and 80 out and a spike at over 140Mbit The aggregated graph does not show much more than a bit over 100Mbit both in and out in total and with the spike it should show around 340Mbit What has caused this irregularity to happen and should it be like this? ---- Regards Daniel
