Migrating to a new server

We just purchased an upgraded server in which to host Observium on and I would like to know the “best” way to migrate over all of our monitored devices. I’m not concerned with any of the graphed data being migrated, or any of the old Observium config. I only want to do a mass export of all of the devices and their properties. Will a dump of the ‘devices’ and ‘devices_locations’ tables suffice? Are there other tables/directories/configs I need to be concerned about? Hi, I can't say for Axis bit definitely success with Hikvision to a point. Observium does scan poll add the camera. If needing to be remote monitored from an external network over WAN there are many different ways of doing it. One way could be to use an ipsec vpn tunnel with gre then use a routing protocol like ospf . Then you could use acls as to what gets to the monitoring system etc... Down Ports - Device Reboots

When I first discovered and polled these particular switches (cisco and edgeswitch) the Ports that were down were not showing up on the device_status_boxes. Which is what I expected. But today the equipment at that site was power cycled when we switched over to generator backup while the electricians hooked up the new auto switch over equipment for the new permanent backup generator. Since then device_status_boxes shows all the down ports and that the devices rebooted. So they will not go away. Other software I used in the past had a mechanism to acknowledge them and they would go away. I can find no such mechanism here to clear these unused ports etc. It has almost eight hours and they are still there What am I doing wrong? -- Arthur Stephens Senior Network Administrator Ptera Inc. Hi, I have syslogs being imported to Observium real-time now and its very helpful and a great feature. My question is we would like to setup an Alert for all Error and Critical level events, but seems you can only do regex expressions on the syslog text message. Hello, I recently ran into a kind of inconvenient behaviour with Observium alerting devices as offline when SNMP on Proxmox nodes gets unresponsive. I already created an alert checker including the condition ‘device_status_type match ping’ which is way more reliable for me in such case. Is there a possibility to disable devices shown as offline in ‘Status Warning and Notifications’ on the frontpage when device_status is offline due to SNMP not responding? Kind Regards, N.

Hi all, Feel free to tell me to get stuffed, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere in google or on the mailing list so thought it worth asking.. As a (very) keen user of HAProxy, is it on the roadmap to be an application Observium can monitor? The stats are quite easily gained through something like HAProxyctl or socat interface. Keepalived would be nice too, and has snmp functionality. :) Thanks Andy

Authentication option

Hello Adam, I have a specific question about the authentication options. I red the documentation, but didn`t found information exactly. The issue is our company is going to integrate observium to the official MFA authentication process and need to know if observium could use SAML for the SSO authentication or if it`s big issue. Hello Any chance of getting support for the individual outlets on a PDU like the APC AP7920B? This so you can see and monitor if it's on or off. I think I've asked the same for other APC PDU's (AP8981) in the past but can't find that thread so not sure what was said then. Location changes

Hello all, I'm currently testing the PRO version before deploying it in production in our environment. I will have arround 1500 devices, on which i only have SNMP access. This mean i can't set the location correctly on the SNMP agent BUT, thanks the this great tool, i can set it manually in order to group my devices by locations (arround 250). I'm going to integrate all the devices via a script, but i need to adjust the location for each of them. Is there is a difference by changing the location via the web gui VS changing it on the field 'location' on the 'devices_locations' mysql table ? Thanks in advance for your help. Rds, Tarik.

Graphs not showing most recent data when refreshing

Hi, I have set Refresh pages to 1 minute and web pages are visibly refreshing, however, they do not show the latest data. The refresh just displays the same data between the "Data presets" value. It doesn't make sense to me: having a refresh but only showing the same data. The same problem is occuring for the Event Log display. I have checked around to see if I should be using a different value for Data Presets but they are all just for a particular time period. There is nothing for "Latest 6 hours" or some such this. In an older version of Observium it worked fine. Graphs always refresh to show the latest data. It is only now that I have installed a new version (a fresh install not an upgrade) that this problem has appeared. Many thanks for your help in advance. Version information is below. Unifi showing 2 physical memorys?

Hi All Im just wondering if anybody else has noticed that UniFi APs have suddenly started to show 2 Physical Memorys? Im not sure if its a new firmware issue on the UAPs or something changed in the SNMP on observium? Both values seem to be different and I’m guessing its ment to be Physical Memory and Swap Memory But its showing in the panel as Physical Memory and Physical Memory? empty disk io graphs for Solaris

Hi, The bytes/s disk io graphs for Solaris 10 machines are all blank. The iops graphs work. All graphs work for Linux (Debian) machines. Configuring email alerts not to send if top level device is down.

Is there a way to configure email alerts to only send out emails about a device being down if the top level device is still up. For example we have multiple remote locations across the state, and if the router at the site goes down we don't need the other 50 emails alerts about all devices behind the router. We need some way to introduce a hierarchy to the alerting. Hope this makes sense.. Awesome product by the way. I really like it! Thanks. Distributed Observium

Hi all, just joined the ml, read latest posts but no answer found. It seems that Observium doesn't support a distributed monitoring architecture, e.g. mapping remote proxies to access entire remote networks remotely, from a central management (e.g. like Zabbix, NetXMS, OMD etc.). We work with lots of remote customers, so it would be really useful to have a complete overview of their networks. Cheers Luca

Class Map Names disappearing

Hi, I have configured class-maps on a cisco router. They are working fine ( policy and server maps also configured and work ). In the CBQoS display for the interface it shows traffic divided up into each class very nicely. To begin with it entitled each set of graphs with the class map's name. Now that has gone. Is there a fix for this? Another a related question, if I update the class maps the results are not shown in the CBQoS display. Do I need to do a rediscover or some such thing? I have been deleting and adding the device back in but that causes all the historical data to be lost. Help very much appreciated. alerting XMPP chat room support

Hello, I’ve setup alerting via XMPP, which works just fine for any chatuser-recipient, but it seems like sending notifications into a chat-room (e.g. room(a)conference.example.net <mailto:room@conference.example.net>) is not supported. Greetings folks, I've setup some alert checkers, one of them is from the example site and is for the memory usage greater than 85%. My issue is, I'm monitoring VM's within ESX and all of the VM's alert. billing on power use?

Is it possible to add billing on power usage for PDUs? Could be 95th based or just an average for the monthly time period. Would need to sum a group of devices, each with several phases of power, the “Power” in kW. Guessing this is something that would need a bit of development, would it be something we could sponsor to move forward? -Darrell

MGE UPS Inverter Status indicator

Unable to add UPS via command line or web interface

Hello everyone, I am unable to add one of UPS to my observium. I have tried via using ./add_device.php command as well as using the web interface. Hi Admittedly the SNMP implementation seems poor, probably because they have their own agent / management platform. However I can you access to radios that you could do SNMP walks on, etc or I can send you walks if needed. Would adding support of Cambium equipment be considered? Regards Lyndon

BGP View in Observium: missing AS-Name resolution and searchability

Hello, In the BGP-View of Observium, we are missing the AS-Name resolution. In earlier revisions the name of the AS was visible and searchable. This was a very convenient thing. ServerCheck Expansion Module Problem

Hello, I am having a problem with my ServerCheck Gateway when I use their expansion module. The problem is when I have a sensor (I am using temperature) plugged into the expansion it does not get discovered. I did some digging with my very limited knowledge of PHP and it looks like the serverscheck.inc.php file only references the sensor that you would plug into the gateway .1.3.6.1.4.1.17095.3. But, when you plug a sensor into the expansion module it polls at .1.3.6.1.4.1.17095.11.0. Now I can edit the php and add these value locations to the array at the top and now the values for the sensor plugged into the expansion module appear. But, their descriptions do not show. I have tried everything I know but my very limited knowledge of PHP is hurting me. To make this even more difficult the value it uses to poll the description is sensor1name for the sensors that plug into a gateway. But, for the expansion, the description value is sensor1Name with a capital "N". Hi, I work as a software engineer at OpsGenie. Observium has a native integration with OpsGenie, and we have a request for you about configuration of this integration. We are introducing EU OpsGenie. When the customers start using EU OpsGenie, they will not be able to use the integration. When an OpsGenie integration is being configured, Observium sends an HTTP request to https://api.opsgenie.com/v1/json/observiumv2?apiKey=$apikey <https://api.opsgenie.com/v1/json/observiumv2?apiKey=$apikey>, but our OpsGenie EU instance will use another endpoint which is https://api.euopsgenie.com/v1/json/observiumv2?apiKey=$apikey <https://api.euopsgenie.com/v1/json/observiumv2?apiKey=$apikey>observiumv2 <https://api.opsgenie.com/v1/json/monitis?apiKey=$apikey>?apiKey=$apikey. And we're thinking of adding more instances like this. Thus, can you change the OpsGenie integration configuration in a way to let the endpoints to be configurable by users? SNMP Traps

Hi, Does Observium provide a mechanism for receiving SNMP Traps from devices for error conditions and then translating those Traps into email notifications? We have a number of power monitors in our environment that do not support snmpget or snmpwalk so Observium cannot poll them for data. The power monitors do support sending Traps when the Power (Amps) being consumed crosses above or below a certain threshold. I looked over docs.observium.org and the FAQ and didn't see anything regarding this. Thanks Gerry

Observium - Unable to generate email notifications from Syslog Alerts

Hi All, Observium Professional 17.11.8960 (29th November 2017) OS: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 [amd64] (Debian 8.7) Apache: 2.4.10 (Debian) PHP: 5.6.30-0+deb8u1 (OPcache: ENABLED) Python: 2.7.9 MySQL: 5.5.54-0+deb8u1 (extension: mysqli 5.5.54) SNMP: NET-SNMP 5.7.2.1 RRDtool: 1.4.8 (rrdcached 1.4.8: unix:/var/run/rrdcached.sock) We are unable to generate email notifications from Syslog Alerts. We are able to generate email notifications from Alert Checkers for the same contacts, and we are able to generate Syslog Alerts on Observium from the Syslog Rules but the associated Contacts do not receive email notifications for those Syslog Alerts. Essentially everything works except for the last step 'Generating Notifications' following the documentation: http://docs.observium.org/alerting_syslog/ We've run a Rebuild via the Web UI, have re-created the Syslog Rules and Contacts and have been through the global configuration but can't find anything obvious. Has anyone come across this problem before, or have any ideas on what would be the next step? There is a way to make that the notifications send a user of an specific device? The idea is that the IT Manager of one office in Mazatlán only receive notifications for the device of that office and the IT Manager of Cabo receive the notifications of his devices in Cabo, is this possible? kind Regards Hermes J.
