custom oid doesn't work after update

Hi I updated from an older Observium (85xx) to the latest 8943. I used two devices with 2-2 custom oids. After the upgrade the custom oids not associated to the devices. I tried to re-add it, but when i select the devices in the custom oid setup i got a red message: "ERROR: Unable to add OID association" I found a similar bug that is closed already: http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBS-2445 but looks like it is closed. Which command output is needed for the debug? Thanks Laszlo

question about Observium alert grouping

hello, We're using Observium subscriber edition. I have some devices on which the alerts should be enabled, and on some others don't. Im thinking of creating groups - So for example, is it possible to enable alerts only on selected group ? But no all devices, thanks.

Juniper port polling problems

Hi, I have observium 0.16.1.7533. It has problems with two machines: Juniper mx240 with JunOS 15.1R2 and Juniper EX4550-32F with JunOS 12.3R12.4. This devices very slow polling ports information. Here I found the same problem: http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-1695 <http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-1695> But there it is written that "junipers have functionally broken SNMP stacks". Is there any solution to this issue? Are there any special settings or modules for JunOS ? Thanks.

Optic dbm alert checker and interface status

Hi, Is there a way to only trigger the dbm sensor alert if the corresponding interface is up? I thought I could get away with just testing if the sensor values fall outside the sensor limits. But when ports are down (even when unplugged) I get spiky readings which will trigger the alert. So it would be nice to check if the interface is up as part of the alert check. I suspect this isn't possible as things are right now. It seems sensors have no relationship to another entity (e.g a port on a router). Ideally, I would like to say something like this: Port Checker Condition ifOperStatus eq up sensors.dbm.juniper-dom-rx.sensor_value < @sensors.dbm.juniper-dom-rx.sensor_limit_low Port Checker Entity Match ifAdminStatus eq up dbm in sensor_classes juniper-dom-rx in sensor_types So only ports that are admin up and have an associated sensor type of the appropriate type would get added to the checker. This will ensure the condition will be able to refer to the appropriate sensor. This would imply there is some mapping/relationship between sensors and other entities. This is probably very MIB specific and very platform specific. But it would make for a very useful checker.

Juniper SRX1500 firewall questionable CPU OIDs used

Hello, I have Juniper SRX1500 firewalls for which Observium is sending false positive CPU alerts (example included below) based on feedback from Juniper. More specifically, I was told that the OIDs used by Observium to collect CPU information are not the correct ones for this devices in particular. Here are the OIDs that I was told should be used to monitor the data plane CPU usage (instead of the standard OIDs that poll the kernel):.1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.39.1.12.1.1.1 Or more specifically for forwarding plane flow (SPU) only: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.39.1.12.1.1.1.3" Here is an Observium alert example: Alert Juniper Firewall CPU Usage is over 40%! Entity FPC: FEB @0/*/* Conditions processor_usage gt 40 (49) Metrics processor_usage = 49 Duration 4m 19s (2017-10-22 17:22:53) Device Device host.mine Hardware SRX1500 Operating System Juniper JunOS 15.1X49-D50.3 Internet Router Location lab Uptime 27 days, 12h 3m 4s The above alert is seen several times a day per device. I'm currently running version 17.10.8921 (Linux 2.6.32-642.13.1.el6.x86_64 [amd64]) but have seen this with different frequencies on all other versions I had. VM or Iron

Hi Everyone, We have been running a VM on Iron box for a few years and now have been noticing slowdowns in performance ( longer poll times, choppy graphs ). We are thinking of moving observium to VM. In your experience, what do you think is better way to run observium on a VM or Iron ? What are the pros and cons ? Thank you for your responses.

Hi all, just curious do I need the pro version in order to see vms on esx servers? I see in the log for the esx host its collecting vm-agent data or at least showing it, but there is nowhere I can 'see' the vms that I can find. Im wondering if its just a matter of upgrading to the pro ... Thanks

SNMP not working in fedora 22

APC Environmental Bars no longer displaying Health Graphs

Hi all, We have 2 APC environmental management agents which we've been using to monitoring temperature and humidity. We've upgraded to 17.9.8829 (stable) this morning, however the logo for each of these devices has changed to NetBotz, instead of the normal APC one. We've lost all health related graphs, temperature/humidity probes, and all related historic data. The event log lists each of the sensor probes being deleted from the system about 7 hours after the upgrade. Other than the upgrade we've made no changes to the system. We've since rebooted each device, and even deleted and re-added one to see if the ports will get re-polled, but no luck. Anyone else experiencing anything similar? Hey there, Is there perhaps a knob that can be used to copy device properties from Device > Properties > Modules from one device to another, or better yet, if I create a group of devices, can I have all members of the group inherit the same properties? I’ve looked through the GUI and also through the available CLI scripts looking for some clues, but haven’t found anything, so perhaps there’s no such ability? Thanks!

Cisco ASA 9.4(3)6 Remote Access Sessions

I am currently using the latest community edition and looking to go to the professional subscription. With a Cisco ASA 9.4(3)6 and graphing the Remote Access Sessions, I am seeing odd data and it looks like others have had the same issue for a couple years now. Device taking > 5 minutes to poll

Hey all, I’ve got a device (Zhone MXK-F) with over 10,000 ports on it, and Observium is taking well over 5 minutes to poll it (upwards of 15 minutes, actually). While there isn’t a definition specifically for MXK-F, it’s getting detected as MXK. os.inc.php is setting max-rep 50, so it’s at least trying to bulk walk, but I don’t know if it’s actually working. Overriding to max-rep 100 doesn’t have an affect on the polling time. So, I guess my question is whether or not I’m on the right track in assuming that this issue is likely that of bulk walk on this device, or possibly some other issue, and how would I determine one way or the other? If it’s something that I can pinpoint, I can throw it back to the vendor to fix. From the digging I’ve done so far, all other poller processes called from poller-wrapper complete in under 5 minutes, so I’m fairly certain that this issue is one of the device, not Observium. Observium migration

Hello, I freshly installed Observer community edition. Now i need to migrate all information from old mashine to new one. I'm ready to move these things from old mashine to newone: 1)RRD Folder 2)Mysql db 3)Weathermap configuration with existing interface number (requirements is that they would be left the same). So everything should be Ok, but i noticed in older mashine i see in config.php the db configuration is without "$config['db_extension'] = 'mysqli';" like in new one. Will it's possible to get any problem because of that ? Thanks.

Session lost

Hello Weve had for quite some time problems with our Observium logins. We cant stay for more than a few seconds logged in. We have different users each with their own user/pass and the issue is the same to all of them. Realtime port monitoring is impossible because we cant stay logged in for more than 10 seconds as it says: Cant get data about port xx .. and than we have to log in again and again.. Graphing OSPF neighbour count?

Hi All, Love Observium, thanks! We had an issue on Friday with an OSPF adjacency; we didn't see it for various reasons and the logs on the device aged out quickly so we don't have a historical on when it came back. We will extend the log depth and possibly ship logs centrally but that doesn't help us on this occasion. This led to me digging around in Observium to see if it had captured the neighbour flapping. The routing tab is great and even shows neighbour count, but it doesn't seem to be graphed (unless I'm overlooking it). Is this something that I could turn on somehow? Many thanks! Chris

Gettign SVN timeout error

Hi All, I am getting an error when I go to update. Server sent unexpected return value (408 Request Timeout) in response to OPTIONS request for 'http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/trunk' I am looking for suggestions on troubleshooting this. I have tried: Making an outgoing rule on the firewall from my Observium server to http://svn.observium.org. Opening outgoing (and therefore, returning) Ports: 80, 443, 21, 22, 8080, 3690 None of that has made a difference. I can ping the svn server from my Observium machine, I can browse to the web page, my login credentials are correct..... ideas? Joshua Bierman

Tables in the Observium DB

First, I just took over our install of this, wasn't involved in the initial setup of observium and I understand the piece I'm asking about is not part of observium, just uses the data it collects and I want to verify if structure has changed since it was released or if there is something incorrectly setup with our system. I'm looking to build out graphviz maps with the data observium has gathered, specifically using: https://github.com/kedare/observium_map_generator Going through their code, it queries the db for the links table and fails. Looking at the database I have a neighbours table, but not links. Google search I see links table discussed back in 2014, but nothing much recently. So, did the links table go away in newer versions, or is the fact that the table is missing an issue with our setup? If it is supposed to be there and missing, I'll work on figuring that out next, if it did just go away I just want to verify that. Thanks
