Polling

Hello, After the installation we have an issue with the rrdtool. In order to have a graph we must have a polling each 5 minutes, but that's used a lot of cpu. Is it possible to have a polling each 15 minutes and have all the graphs or not. And if it's possible, how we can do this, we have searched but not find how do this. Thank you for your help. Reporting Windows mount points in CE edition

Hello, Currently we are using Observium to monitor many Windows servers and I can see CE edition doesn't show Windows mount points in host filesystem. Do Professional edition shows them ? It would be great to monitor disks capacity for typical disks (C:, D: ) as well as mount points. Regards, Silvio

Hi, We're currently using Observium CE 0.16.9.8118 (30th September 2016) and mostly love the system. Not being a native Linux user has kept me on my toes! Our deployment is monitoring customer premises equipment over hub (us and Observium server) spoke (each client network) VPN tunnels. We're ready to start spending some money with you guys but had a few questions please? 1. Is it possible to set device dependencies, so for instance, if a WAN router fails, all of the devices behind it don't show as down? 2. Is it possible for a device to not show as down unless it fails to respond to multiple polling requests (such as three attempts?) Alerting to be based on these rules? 3. Can we brand the login page an UI with our company details, as we offer the whole system in a MSP role? Thank you. I'm struggling with LDAP auth (we use Jumpcloud <https://support.jumpcloud.com/customer/portal/articles/2439911> - so I think we have an added layer of weirdness to contend with). I can't find any information about how to generate (or where it might end up) debugging output so I can work out what I am doing wrong. I have a system where the storage sizes are being reported incorrectly and there appears to be an issue with reading ZFS file systems being reported at all. I have 4 NAS (OmniOS) servers that are ZFS based, but none of the ZFS disk space is being reported at all. Multiple Payments

Hi, We're a subscriber to observium professional and recently did what we did last year and paid the £240 for renewal. The accounts department are querying that a further £180 has been taken out in the same month. I can only assume this is due to an auto renewal system. Help with Alert Checker matching

I'm hoping somebody can help with an alert checker. I'd like to look at "port_descr_notes" and if it contains NoAlert anywhere in it - not have it fire the *should be up rule*. ifAdminStatus equals up ifOperStatus equals down I've tried... port_descr_notes notmatch *NoAlert* port_descr_notes notregexp .*NoAlert.* Both with no success (they both completely invalidate the rule). The string "NoAlert" should be able to fall anywhere in the description, start, middle, end - or just completely by itself. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Wildcards in hostname device match not working

Hello everyone, today I noticed that wildcards are not working anymore if I use them for hostnames as I create new alert checker. the hostnames I try to trigger are commonly looking like this: vh01-name vh02-name ... vh16-name Simple running numbers counting up and the rest is the same. I tried the following masks as match: *name* vh* vh*-name none of the above are working. The current workaround is to write a hostname check for every machine, as I got 16 Device Match entries at the moment. Could this be because of the !=/ne operand I use? Because the logical function I try to accomplish is filtering out specific servers from a alerter, so they will be ignored and not checked. Can you give an advise? Thanks and much regards, Sebastian

Looking for assistance on extending our subscription. I'm a current subscriber with an expiration of 2017-01-23 and I wanted to renew early to spend the money this year. I paid for another year, but instead of extending our current subscription a new SVN account was created with its own expiration. Request for LigoWave Wireless MIB support

Hello Observium developers, It would be highly appreciated if it is possible to add support for LigoWave Wireless equipment in Observium. Currently the LigoWave equipment shows as a generic Linux machine in Observium. Attached are smpwalks for the LigoWave LigoPTP 5-23 RapidFire and for the LigoWave LigoPTP 5-23 PRO, as well as the mib definition files. Hi All - recently broke my Observium install during a Ubuntu upgrade so now I am looking to build Observium on a new box. I inherited this install and have only used it a small degree so it is fair to say I am not very familiar with the overall package but want to get a better understanding an expand my usage as much as possible. For my new install I would like to be able to retain access to the historical data that has been collected (if possible). I am hoping someone will be able to give me a quick rundown on what parts of the current install I should be backing up? I have taken a copy of the mysql DB to start with but I am not sure if I should be taking something else as well. Appreciate any assistance. Cheers Mal

V2C works perfectly but v3 doesnt work

Hi Team, I am in the process of upgrading the SNMP version from v2c to v3. I have tested with few test units but in all cases, I can do the polling via v2c without any issue but when I use v3 it doesn't work. I tried with noauth , auth and auth&priv options but in all option I get an error msg saying I couldn't connect to the end device via the V3 parameters Any help on this is highly appreciated Thank You Uthay

Geolocation Lookups stopped when updating to 17.5.8580

Hi, After upgrading from version 17.5.8580 to version 17.7.8697 the geolocation lookups using Openstreetmap seem to have stopped. The event logs used to be full of lines such as: Geolocation (OPENSTREETMAP) -> [43.719989, -71.004577] United States (Country), New York (State), New York (County), New York (City) These are now completely missing. This means the location for all devices is now unknown. I have another server on version 17.5.8580 with identical configuration which is still able to do the geolocation lookups. Here is the relevant output from config.php: $config['geocoding']['enable'] = TRUE; // Enable Geocoding $config['geocoding']['location_menu_geocoded'] = TRUE; $config['geocoding']['api'] = 'mapquest'; $config['geocoding']['api']['key'] = '<HIDDEN>'; $config['geocoding']['default']['lat'] = "51.5111119"; // Default latitude $config['geocoding']['default']['lon'] = "-0.0059373"; // Default longitude What do I need to change in order to get the geolocation lookups working again? HP RAID and Exchange 2010

I have been running the Pro version for 24 hours now. Really like what I see. Couple things I am looking to be able to monitor. I have one Supermicro server with windows 2008r2 and it is reporting in the individual raid drive status. This is great so I added another server HP dl380 running windows 2008r2 and I don’t see the raid drive statuses. How can I add theses? On the same HP DL380 we are running Exchange 2010. I was hoping I could get some monitoring of Exchange as well. I would appreciate any help. I am looking to get more and more items working and now I am looking at the Ubuntu servers we have. After attempting to setup my first server I get the output below when running the snmpwalk command. Nested alert device matching?

Howdy Guys, I'm trying to figure out how I can build a "nested" for lack of better description device matching script. For example, "type equals network AND hostname match *domain1.com*". Or, "type equals network AND hostname notmatch *domain2.com*". I can't just use a "hostname match *domain1.com*" because I also have devices in other groups with the same hostname match, but don't want to alert-check on those other groups. how to create custom sensor threshold for some devices?

Hi I am running Observium Professional an im havving an issue with some sensors in our environment I have a sensor that is always generating an alert: Index: hh3cEntityExtTemperature.112 Class: temperature min: 0 degrees max: 0 degrees current: 40 degrees I have many of them on one device i.e.: hh3cEntityExtTemperature.112 hh3cEntityExtTemperature.122 hh3cEntityExtTemperature.262 hh3cEntityExtTemperature.267 Additionally, all switches of this kind are producing the alerts since they all have the indexes and the incorrect threshold. How can i set a custom threshold that is valid for all of these switches and Indexes (the indexes are equal on all of the switches)? Alert Checkers and Mail Settings

Hello Experts, Quick one, I have Port Down Alerts on my Alerts section. I have not disabled the polling and alerts for those ports on the respective devices. But inspite of it, I still see those alerts in my alerts section. Does it clear or something just because we have disabled the polling for those ports which are down. ??? Also, I have put my mail ID as contact and enabled the mail alerts. For example, I have 50 alerts in my alerts section: [cid:image001.png@01D2F3D8.B1EB9EA0] So I get an alert flood in my mail box for those 50 alerts all once. I have my refresh interval of 5 mins, so after 5 mins I get the flood of 50 mail alerts again ? Why there is a recurring of the mail alerts ? Thank you for the Response Adam, Was also wondering, I have added some alert checks for Network related testing. [cid:image001.png@01D2F19D.1634BC40] If you see, the one highlighted are for Network related alerts, but I seem to have some issue here. If you look at the above for the CPU, Memory, Storage, etc the tool is able to detect and show the numbers in “Green” and “Red” But there is nothing indicating for BGP, high temperature and other highlighted alert checkers. Am I doing something different here or my alert conditions have issues ? Started getting multiple events "Device status changed to Down (ping) " over the last few weeks with no major increase in number of devices. Issue started on Cento 6.9 install with PHP 5.4, MySQL 5.1 (260 devices) HW - dual - quad core xeon CPUs, 24 GB Ram, RRD, MySQL, OS - with Observium install all on separate SSD drives Observium SVN install 17.6.8672 (rolling) Upgraded PHP and MySQL to PHP70 with opcode caching enabled, MySQL 5.7.18 - no change Spun up a fresh install Centos 7.3, PHP70 with opcode caching enabled, MySQL 5.7.18 (install per docs) HW - dual - quad core xeon CPUs, 24 GB Ram, RRD, MySQL, OS - with Observium install all on separate SSD drives Observium SVN install 17.6.8672 (rolling) $config['snmp']['max-rep'] = TRUE; Currently only 139 devices added To eliminate DNS related issues I have added the devices to /etc/hosts and forced resolution to use it first. Cron has /opt/observium/observium-wrapper poller -w 5 running every 5 min. The devices are not down and if I manually poll the device with a "Device status changed to Down (ping) " notice it responds normally and comes right back up. Was wondering if anyone has seen any behavior like this with this build or before. Also is there a way to skip ping during the poller run and just do snmp, and if so is it something that I can enable globally? Thanks in advance Ron Culler

I want to install Observium (observium.org) on my virtual Ubuntu Server but when I try to download files, I get a read error. wget http://www.observium.org/observium-community-latest.tar.gz --2017-06-28 10:53:16-- http://www.observium.org/observium-community-latest.tar.gz Resolving www.observium.org (www.observium.org)... 37.187.79.83 Connecting to www.observium.org (www.observium.org)|37.187.79.83|:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... Read error (Connection reset by peer) in headers. Retrying. I couldn't find any solution. I use static IPv4 address and DNS servers. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS works on VCENTER Virtual Machine Version: 11 and Network Adapter is VM Network. Any solutions? Thanks.
