The “reserved” and “image” are filtered from all other devices by existing config.php – but obviously no brackets on these ones. $config['ignore_mempool_string'][] = '(reserved)'; $config['ignore_mempool_string'][] = '(image)'; However, the ‘processor’ one is actually wrong as it seems to be using the CPU0 usage but a strange maximum of 3.81GB instead of 7.81GB. I can’t filter this out because it will drop all ‘processor’ types. I remember something historic relating to this where the maximums were showing as around 4GB even though there is 8GB installed and someone (Adam?) found and sorted it. Hey, I would like to ask if it is possible to specify snmp timeout for a single device in Observium? I tried to do that in Device > Properties > SNMP > Timeout, but each time I try to change this empty field to 100 or 200… I get info: “Device SNMP configuration update is not required” Regards, Gabriel

using hardware sensors

Dear Observium community, is there any description of using hardware sensors? I've following issue. I'm operating a HP server with an Ilom under Ubuntu Linux. I configured in the device properties for ipmi: IPMI Hostname (IP address of the Ilom), IPMI Username (as configured at Ilom) IPMI Password, IPMI Userlevel (User) IPMI Interface (IPMI v2.0 RMCP+LAN Interface). Observium rekognized the sensors for temperature und fan speed. I did the same at an other HP server (same type) which is running ESXi 6.5 (HP customized Image). The Sensors are shown in the vSphre-Client and ESXi empeded host client UI. But for this host, Observium does not rekognize the sensors. How can this be explained ? Thanks. Lg. TF

Group with 500+ devices

Hi, I have a problem with device classification to specific groups. We currently have 750 devices added in our network. Some users can only have access to specific devices, which led us to creating a group associated with them. The problem is, that more than 500 devices belong to the group, and when we attach this group to a user, it lags like hell. The main window of Observium loads slowly, and the search works very slow. I dont think that the server is incapable of proccesing this quickly It's a server with 80gb of ram, 24core cpu. By the way, admin accounts work perfectly . Is this a bug? Or something needs to be done in order? Let me know, thank you.

Ruckus Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) controller

It seems that either the Ruckus MIB changed, or my expectation of function is different than reality. We run the Ruckus Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) to control our AP's. At the moment, Observium provides just the local attributes (CPU, NIC, RAM, Disk) of the virtual machine, but it was my impression that I was supposed to get a much larger subset of data regarding AP's, configured WLANS, clients and traffic, etc. It appears in the MIB properties that the data should be available, but perhaps there's been a change of MIB from the Ruckus side (in which case I would also like to pay for getting that updated). Attached is a screenshot of the Device MIBs and SNMP errors as reported by Observium. If you require something else, please let me know. I am using the most recent software version for both vSZ and the APs (R600). Observium is updated from SVN daily(ish). If this requires more heavy lifting or outside of the scope, then please contact me offline for pricing and timeline, and I'll sponsor the additions. Philippe [image: Inline image 1]

Generate an BGP group with only like clue the interface description?

Hello, We would like create alert on BGP sessions only on private peering. The only clue for detected these BGP sessions is the description on interface. But Observium seems don't can link session<->network ports. I don't find easy solution to match these sessions. Anybody have an idea? Observium seems to be able link one IP to network port. Is it possible for you add functionality to link BGP sessions (with their IP) to network port too? We could do a really great monitoring and see BGP sessions linked to the network port (on new tab?) :-) Johann

Alert cache bug maybe

Hi All, Im not sure if other people are having this issue or not, but since the caching has gone into Observium my alerts tab hasnt been working correctly? I’ve been getting the alerts perfectly fine! But the tabs are wrong? Attached shows the home page which shows I have an alerts FAIL, however when i go into the alerts page I have none? Also I haven’t been notified of a FAIL alert either? Caching bug maybe? Regards Simon

Hi there Just installed the Observium 17.2.8353 to monitor our network Great job! I need to handle a couple of issues: 1. Once I did Custom OID to monitor, How Can I set threshold or alarm limit to get an alert? For example, graphing fuel level, raise an alert on low value. 2. Some devices are recognized by the system-i.e. EATON SC Controller-, but sensors -voltage, current, power, etc.- are not. I can write a sensor.inc.php -same way as others into includes/discovery/sensors dir- but even with the debug option in command line, cant´t get it working. Any clue? Couldnt find the list archive ( mybe solved there, but....) link is broken Regards Andres.-

So I have it observium almost fully setup on FreeBSD 11 however I can't get Apache 2.4 to work. I'm getting a error that php is too old. Map marker icon size

We are adding quite a few locations to our install and after adding the first batch our front page map ends up with quite a bit of overlap while we have many more to add. It got me thinking if we could just make the individual markers smaller it would work better for us. Looking into the settings it seems there was an option for: $config['frontpage']['map']['dotsize'] = 10; Changing this seems to have no effect and a quick glance it does not seem to be used anymore Doing a little more digging in the code it looks like the html/includes/map/leaflet.inc.php has options defined to add the svg icons with static sizes with the following: var icons = { ok: L.icon({ iconUrl: 'images/svg/ok.svg', popupAnchor: [0, 16], iconSize: [24, 24] // size of the icon }), alert: L.icon({ iconUrl: 'images/svg/high_priority.svg', popupAnchor: [0, 12], iconSize: [32, 32] // size of the icon }), }; It seems just changing the values in iconSize: [X,Y] accomplishes what we would like to do to make the marker size a bit smaller and the maps to be more clear with many more sites added. authentication timeout or random logout

LDAP Debug Support

Can anyone point me in the right direction for debugging LDAP authentication? Running the most current stable release of the Professional edition currently on CentOS 7 (in our test environment). Upgraded PHP to 7.1, as the older PHP we had installed was not working, now I cannot log in. It just loops me back to the main page. I was also getting TLS negotiation errors (with a blank error message) though I seem to have solved that particular issue for now. I can't seem to figure out how to enable debug logging though so that I can find out what's going on...

Not sure if this is the best place to ask these questions, but I haven't had any success with direct emails to keep this off the list. Might have sent them to the wrong address. I'm interested in getting the subscription, or Pro, edition of Observium. I've been asked to see if we can get an eval so we can determine if the enhancements either improve compatibility with Brocade VDXes, and/or if the additional features we would gain are of value to us. We are also a registered nonprofit in the US if that qualifies us for free access to the subscription edition. Thanks for any help!

Selectively enable polling fdb-table

Hi, We have globally disabled polling fdb-table, i.e in in config.php we have $config['poller_modules']['fdb-table'] = 0; Now we'd like to selectively ENABLE polling of the fdb-table, but only on a subset of devices. Is there a way to do this? From what I can figure out it's only possible to do it the other way around, that is enable fdb-table polling GLOBALLY and then device by device DISBALE polling. But we'd like to have polling OFF by default and then selectively enable it on a few devices. Any ideas? SSH, HTTPS, HTTP etc.. is there a way for those items to also appear on firewalls? as that would be really nice to have.. Just wondering what the best way is to set the default sensor limits? For example, I would like to set the battery temperature sensor max to 50C for all of our UPS units instead of the current default of 91.36C which would basically mean that the ups has melted into the floor.

Hi All, Is there an additional plugin for managing user and group for Observium? Or anywhere we can modify for user customer's portal purpose? Eg: For customer web accessing, we only provide normal user permission applied with limitted device or port access for that customer only and it should not display Overview, Grouping, Weathermap, Routing module.... anywhere we can disable that kind of module to accomplish? AD Ldap Authentication Debug

Hello, I'm trying to setup AD Ldap authentication and getting nowhere. I'm running observium version 17.1.8318 and PHP 7.0.15. I have ldap enabled and I have verified that with phpinfo. When I try to login with these settings in my config.php it just goes back to the login page with no failed login message or any other notice. Syslog alerting OSPF state change

I set up syslogging then creating the alert check looking for /FULL\ to\ DOWN/ for cisco i manually triggered the events in my network on a unused path and the syslog messages came in but i didn't get any triggers on the alert checkers. Is there something wrong with my setup or alert checks? Where would I start looking?

Observium wrong graph traffic statistic

Dear Team, I just install Observium and as I observed the graph traffic statistic seem not accurate compared to my Cacti graph monitoring system then I ask my Network Engineer to check which one is accurate traffic between Observium and Cacti, as the result after checking real traffic on my router device, Observium seems not accurate. Note: Graph statistic value is different is around 1GB, this is a huge number. Can anyone explain why or anyone experiences like me? Traffic graph don't work over 100G?

Hello, On our network, we have aggregate ports with multiple 100G ports. When the trafic is over 100G, the traffic graph don't work : http://imgur.com/a/JvzIB But the another graphs, like "Unicast Packets", works without issue. Johann

Problem with Status Summary (Port down)

Hello, I have a little problem. In the status summary on the frontpage one port listed as down: [cid:image001.png@01D27BE4.30D4AD50] If I click on the "1 down" I don't see any port listed: [cid:image002.png@01D27BE4.30D4AD50] Is this a bug? Inventory expansion not working

Hi Observium team, Just tried to expand the inventory for one of our machines, but it doesn't appear to be working. The expand button is there but doesn't appear to do anything. Same issue in both Chrome and Firefox. We're running version 17.1.8318. Kind regards, Alex

Policy class name not display on Observium Pro

Hi All, I'm wondering on CBQoS graph, can we include the policy name display from router/node? Eg: CUST-A / class-default (output) CUST-A / class-default (input) As I observed this look fine on Observium Community Edition for CBQoS graph display policy class but not on Professional edition? why? Can anyone guide me where can we enable that features for Observium Pro? Thanks
