Error with poller.php with WMI and Exchange

Hello. We have started using Observium to monitor our environment. Just went to add an exchange server using WMI and received the following error when doing the poller.php call. Some of the info in Observium Updates, some does not. Any help would be appreciated. I am happy to supply any additional information that is required. Alert Checker Advice

Hello, I am struggling to get a couple of alert checkers built and am hoping someone can point me in the correct direction regarding my syntax. In the first one, I'd like to alert whenever a processor rises above 45% which is working great, however, I'd like to exclude loadbalancer devices from the check. Attached is a screenshot of my alert check, when I look at alert logging, I see that loadbalancers are still being checked. I've tried "type notequals loadbalancer" as part of the test with the same results. The second alert I'm struggling with is a battery alert based on a status alert with a status of "batteryNeedsReplacing" preferably only looking at device type equals power. I've attached my attempt at that alert as well. I've been through the documentation, but still can't seem to get my syntax correct. I appreciate any advice anyone can give. hostname shortening bug

Dear Team, we have noticed since a couple of days that some switches are shorten in the name. In detail: At the overview page under the section 'Status Warnings and Notifications' we got several switches shorten in name. For example the name is 'fra4.b.j1-switch1.acc' and in the given section it is shorten to 'fra4.a' and thats it. This behaviour is not occuring at other switches. Only at about 20% of our infrastructure this strange shortening appears. Fully random, no particularly order or chronological order to notice. I cannot get an idea why this is happening. The switches are added through hostnames as usual. First I thought this is caused by the dots in the name that they are somehow noticed as a kind of DNS suffix and that the names are shorten by this. But at other switches named by the same scheme this is not the case. Do you got an Idea why this is happening or what we can do against it? Kind regards, Sebastian

Hi All, I have configured only for down and traffic alert to be send via email notification but at the same time unwanted alert Mempool was sended to the email as well. How I want to disable Mempool Alert so that it wont send an email notification. UPS Input Current Detection

Hi, Got a weird issue with UPS data collection for devices that are in ‘Eco Mode’. (I’m not a fan of the mode, but some customers run them this way.) In brief, it means the UPS is running on internal bypass with the inverter synchronised but off-load. When there is a failure then it starts being a UPS again, quickly. This means that 99.9% of the time it has near-zero “Input Current” because the load is being fed from the bypass line. This seems to cause Observium to cease polling the values for the Input Currents (they are zero, or near-zero) on some of the three phases. The most annoying side effect is that they disappear and re-appear (depending if the value is zero or 0.1A) during each detection run, so the custom sensor values seem to get reset. Causing random alarms when the values drop to zero again. [cid:image001.png@01D26FDB.CB82BEB0] Interestingly, it does not seem to have this issue with the Bypass Current which (in this device) isn’t metered and therefore is always zero, but always gets found OK. There is residual current on Input Phase 2 and Input Phase 3 but rarely does it show anything on Input Phase 1 (until the UPS goes active). I hope that this all makes a small amount of sense - attached is a debug discovery and a debug poll of the sensors module for this example device. (The last run I did it found Phase 2 and Phase 3.) I have also attached an SNMP walk of the device. Hi All, Just want to ask any of you that using weathermap.I have problem in getting the right rrd files as shown in the picture as I thought it was /opt/observium/rrd/poller.rrd but it producing error. target: /opt/observium/rrd/poller-wrapper.rrd on config line 61 of configs//aism.conf had no valid data, according to WeatherMapDataSource_rrd I tried to get some info on the google but I failed.Any of you can guide me on this.Much appreciated. Custom percentile

non SNMP monitoring

Hi Folks, Just bought the professional edition and have spend the last days to get everything in place and working. Beside some issues with power monitoring for JANITZA power meter and APC UPS everything now looks good and I really enjoy the product. My problem is that I am not living on an island and more in a world of connected clouds where I don’t always have admin access to the device I need to monitor and in most cases there is no SNMP interface but REST or other API’s instead. In the past I used Cacti with mURLin and some basic ICMP, TCP and UDP probes (paping) which produced some MRTG graphs. I just wonder if I missed something with Observium on how to monitor non SNMP enabled devices or if there is something similar available like described here: http://olivermarshall.net/enable-ping-tests-in-librenms/ where they used nagios-plugins for LibreNMS? Large switch port modification

Hi. I'm getting some SNMP errors when polling my Mikrotik RB800 device. Hello We use Observium in conjunction with Rancid, we backup not only our Routers and Switches but also our UBNT Radios. The feature request is as follows, If we set a CPE radio to "Ignore device for alerting and notifications” the backup attempts will also stop For most of our radios we don’t ever ignore them, however in the consumer space there are clients who will switch off equipment every day when they are not home, or will unplug they are going away for a weekend or longer, We still poll these consumer radios so that we can graph traffic and packetloss etc, but are not really worried if the client switches them off, we don't proactively monitor consumer / home user radios. however when a number of clients do switch their kit off it fills up the screen that is used by NOC. Is there a way to still allow rancid from backup up a device that has been set to ignore?

Nested location menu glitch

Hi everyone! We recently updated to the latest CE version and happily saw the new improvements, the new map really rocks, and the small things are awesome too. What I would like to point out is one small glitch in the new (at least for us) nested location menu. We use $config['location_map'] to mass override the location strings of most devices (lots of devices don't cope with accented/special characters, so we limit the on device sysLocation and add human readable address later on), and we include exact coordinates in square brackets at the end of the new location string. And here comes the glitch, the split char for the nested menu is by default comma, so the new location string gets one extra split in the middle of the coordinates like: Locations > Some place > some other place [43.53 > 15.25] A solution that I found is to completely drop any coordinates from the end of the location string. For this I changed /opt/observium/html/includes/navbar.inc.php and added to the line 165: $location = preg_replace('/\[[[:digit:]NWSE,. -]+\]$/','',$location); As seen in context: foreach (get_locations() as $location) { + $location = preg_replace('/\[[[:digit:]NWSE,. -]+\]$/','',$location); // If location is empty, substitute by OBS_VAR_UNSET as empty location parameter would be ignored $name = ($location === '' ? some HP/Colubris SNMP data missing

We have several HP/Colubris MSC-3200 devices on our network, and while most of the SNMP data seems to be available just fine there seem to be a few things missing compared to what I can view in OpenNMS. I looked through the MIBs folder and it does appear that all the MIBs exist but it seems that some of the data isn't being exposed in the webUI. Specifically, OpenNMS exposes a "Colubris Public Access Users" that allows me to view how many users are logged in at any given time. In OpenNMS it seems to be nested under "SNMP Node Data > Node Level Performance Data". Is this something I have to create a graph for or is there some sort of configuration change I need to make to get Observium to scrape that particular data?

Direct link to group images change when group members change

Hi! I'm using the direct link to graph images for a portal containing data from other tools (Grafana etc.) and I've noticed that it seems the id part (marked in bold below) seem to change when the members of the group the graph is created from change....which happens every now & then due to auto-discovery). The result is that most of the time the graphs work, but if a new device is added or anything else is changed for a group view, the direct graph URL ID changes and from there on any old reference is invalid. I haven't looked into the code, but would assume that the ID should refer to the group ID and thus be constant, but it seems it's not. Any insight on how this works and how it potentially could be fixed ? deleted port issue during polling

Hello All, I am having an issue with one switch when I run discovery, the switch ports are added. Once the poller polls the switch, then all the interfaces are deleted. I am running the latest community version. Any ideas? Memory used bug I think?

HP Intelligent PDU support?

Hello We have some HP Intelligent PDU (AF252A) with External Bar. (AF547A) I added it to Observium (0.16.8.8039) but it shows only a very basic detail from the PDU. Only the Ethernet and a Loopback interface shows, not the current usage like any other APC PDUs. Possibly to add this device to the supported PDUs? If need i can create debug outputs. Thank you all for any response and for the great observium tool! I was wondering if obserium could monitor my HP Proliant power consumption (on Linux server). During my initial search I found 2 items in JIRA: http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-476 and http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-1834 After installing the hp-snmp-agents and activating them in SNMP I see information in snmpwalk (using this as resource: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:-mM1kr6Ubv0J:thejimmah… ) But unlike JIRA issue-1834 suggests only very few information was added. 59m 28s srv01 Asset_tag -> 59m 28s srv01 Serial -> CZJ2XXXXXX 59m 28s srv01 Hardware -> HP ProLiant ML350 G6 x86 [64bit] When looking at the following Nagios check a lot more information could be added: https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Hardware/Server-Hardware/HP-%… Has anybody tried adding extra information for HP servers? Setting up alert types and curious if those referenced in the documentation is generic for all supported devices? Currently testing Observium in lab environment with an initial 90 HP devices to possibly propose migrate away from Nagios. I don't see in the documentation if there is a performance limit reached if and when I add another 40 devices. 32 vs 64 iftable counters

Adding a ptpd application to unix-agent

Hi, I have been playing with ptpd on my network to see how it behaves compared to ntp. I really like the observium monitoring of ntp. I use Observium CE 0.16.10.8128 (6th October 2016) on FreeBSD 10.3 & 11.0 So, I had a crack at implementing ptpd as an application for unix-agent guided by http://observium.org/docs/developing/add_app/ which says: “• RRD formats are defiend in includes/definitions/rrdtypes.inc.php” But this doesn’t exist in my installation and I am suspecting config['rrd_types'] is defined in includes/definitions/definitions.dat which I don’t know how to read. So when polling the servers with ptpd, I get this error: “Cannot create RRD for type ptpd-slave - not found in definitions!” Is there anyway I can get past this? Or is this something I shouldn’t be doing? Authentication log bug

Hi Adam and team, We found a bug in the authentication log this evening. One of our guys tried logging in to our Observium but couldn't remember his username. However, when he tried logging in he used an uppercase letter in his username, and it still allocated the attempted login to his user account, even though Observium uses case-sensitive usernames and the attempted login would be different from his actual user account - his username is "lee", but he (incorrectly) tried "Lee". Testing with my own account shows that any username with the same spelling will show up under that account, even though the users are not the same. Kind regards, Alex

Just purchased the Pro version of Observium (damn good looking stuff) and am running 0.16.12.8292. Looking at the JIRA, I understand that AVTech devices are a pain due to the way the vendor writes the MIB. Nonetheless, their equipment and expandability is good, and they do provide SNMP data that can be harvested. I've purchased, and intend to standardize on the 12E model of the device. I see that the 4E and the 24E are Observium supported devices (to some degree). Who can I hire to get the 12E inserted supported by Observium at the current MIB version as provide by AVTech? Moving Observium

So I have my new CentOS7 system ready to go, moving from a CentOS6 VM. I thought I'd found it before, but I can't find instructions for moving observium to a different system (same x86_64 architecture). I can move the RRDs, but isn't there more to it, like migrating mysql data? I've looked through the documentation. Perhaps I'm just looking for the wrong text. Any links someone can point to, or instructions for moving from one host to another? Thanks. Bill

Question about port tags.

Hi guys, I have two ports in my environment with some tags on it. Observium recognizes it as a Customer and some other details. But the thing is; one port is a stacking port without label (1/2/3, what you don't see), and the other one is disabled and also without a label. Maybe I overlooked something. Never created the labels in the first place. The question: how can I clean this up? Observium Polling via SSH

Hi All, I have an environment that uses Observium but a lot of our systems that we need to keep track of and poll are having ICMP echo requests turned off which makes polling a little difficult. So after making backup copies of the files I am starting to make a module that polls via SSH. Currently it's in the "works under conditions X" stage and I had to bake it into some of the includes code (hence the copies). I guess my main question is this something anyone is interested in being submitted as an option? I'm currently working on the ability to make it more of an automated process, and set up a flag that toggles whether the poller works with ping or ssh. But, if this is so niche that it's not really something cares about then cool, but I thought I would ask in case it could be a useful feature to add for others? And, if it is something that might seem useful then if there's a preferred method of adding it over putting it directly into the existing code I'm perfectly willing to go that route instead so I'm not messing with anyone's flow.
