Overal Transit Traffic Today

Hi all, I just visited the live demo on Observium's site and noticed that when you log in there's an overall transit traffic today section. On our version of Observium we don't have this, even though versions seem to be the same (Observium 0.16.10.8181 (stable)). I've had a quick look in the global settings but can't see how to enable this? Has anyone got this working on their installs, we'd like to have this feature on ours J Thanks in advance. Possible bug with device properties port tab and toggles

I was not sure of the netiquette of posting bugs in jira so I thought I would send to the mailing list instead. I have been having a problem with the toggle buttons on the top of the device properties -> ports tab. The problem started with the toggle buttons not working properly, when pressed all of the toggle buttons would function like the device save submit button. I seem to be able to recreate this problem and duplicate after doing a bit of looking at the code and testing, it seems to be an artifact of disabling the mouseover popups. Does not work: Global Settings -> Edit, Web UI tab, Mouseover Popus set to Custom/False Device properties -> port tab, toggle buttons do not function, merely submit page Works: Global Settings -> Edit, Web UI tab, Mouseover Popups set to Custom/True Device properties -> port tab, toggle buttons function properly Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or perhaps something I need to change on my side. I did a fresh up to date ubuntu install to validate and the same behavior happens there. Hello, I just decided to add my Ubiquity devices last night, and i keep getting event logs that the ports are down and up for my switches, and for the access points i get wifi0 and wifi1 are down. packetflux expansion units

Hi everybody.... Packetflux is officially supported by observium - I brought one base unit and 2 expansion units for testing (replacing my today used zenoss installation). Unfortunately observium does only import base version and not the expansion units with the temperature sensors.... Today I have added OIDs of the expansion units and assigned to the base unit manually.... But this not the way it should work.... Can someone confirm that packetflux is fully supported (incl. expansion units )? Any way to import them into observium? Thanks for your ideas.... We have several devices showing their storages, some of them don't need to be shown. rsyslog problems

Hi all, I have an issue with rsyslog after adding the script 30-observium.conf to /etc/rsyslog.d. Before that, rsyslog is logging, as expected, all the local events to /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog. After installing the script and restarting rsyslogd all the remote events are logged to MySQL and you can see them in Observium, but local events are not logged anymore. Seems to be an issue with the script for Observium in /etc/rsyslog.d and I got the same issue in a fresh installation, so I believe anyone else may had the same problem. The first installation is a TurnKey VM based in Debian Jessie. The second one is based in Debian testing (stretch). Both systems use rsyslogd 8.xx. I used the script recommended in Observium´s website. Any advice? When I have time to build and deploy a system, I don't want to have to wait days to get a licence issued because Paddle assumes that every transaction is fraudulent. Quick filters within device ports view

Hi, Has anyone else got problems when trying to select a quick filter within the Ports tab of a device? When clicking on one filter it seems to select all, hiding all ports. The reset does not release the applied filters, so need to remove part of the URL to get back to unfiltered view. ports mis-ordered

Hi running Observium 0.16.10.8181 (stable) and when you go into a device and click on "Health > Power" the ports are not being listed in order of ports 1,2,3,4,5. They are being ordered in a list like: 1,10,11,12,13.....,29,3,30 Can this be ordered correctly? See attachment thanks Rich

Small feature request

Hi all! I ran into this small deficit a few times, but now I decided to report it, maybe it gets the attention of other fellow users and/or of developers. So the small thing that I miss sometimes from the GUI is the display of the IP address of a device. In my opinion this information should definitely be listed on the overview page, but optimally it should also appear in the tooltip that appears when hovering the mouse (let's say after the FQDN in square brackets). And given the fact that a device can have many IP addresses, I would say lets display the one that the devices FQDN resolves to (mostly this is that I am eager to know). Yes-yes, I know, DNS solves most of the problems, but sometimes it is just easier if you know the IP address. Any opinions? Regards, Tylla

Syslog Rules

Hi All, Has anyone used the syslog rules/alerts yet? I've tried setting up some simple rules to alert if there are particular messages in the syslog but haven't managed to get any to trigger. I've tried making the rules even simpler, for example setting the rule to /port/ (which occurs in the syslog often) and haven't had it trigger either. If I browse to the syslog and use the message search function it does return results. The syslog has been configured and in use for some time - one of my colleagues set it up and followed the syslog integration guide. Is there any further configuration needed for the syslog rules to enable them or something? Many thanks for your help. Regards, Sam

Deleting device problems!

When we are deleting a device we struggle with the time it takes, I have done a debug and this seems to be the problem: SQL[DELETE FROM `devices_perftimes` WHERE `device_id` = '593'] ROWS[-1] SQL RUNTIME[97.04324698s] ERROR[Error in query: (The total number of locks exceeds the lock table size) 1206] Can you help me with what I can do to fix this problem? Have you selected the right entity type when adding an alert-checker? Hmm... if i run a „rebuild” there are see lot of devices but there is no any „FW” devices however we have more whit this FW prefix. May be this is the problem? Hi, How can we _Force_ the disablement of discovering hosts via LLDP/XDP? Normally when running poller.php, with '$config['autodiscovery']['xdp'] = FLASE;' set in config.php, everything is fine. However when running '/opt/observium/discovery.php', it finds a switch, and we have LLDP enabled on our servers and switches for other processes related to the management of servers. However this means that Observium takes over an hour to discover a single Virtual Cassis which has 192 ports, with over 100 active servers (all showing up in the LLDP on the switch). Obviously this is a waste of time, and unnecessarily stressful for the servers being scanned and the Observium server. Why is discovery.php not honouring '$config['autodiscovery']['xdp'] = FLASE;' as set in config.php? Cheers, Andy.

Device Properties - Ports - Toggle Not Working

I tried looking for mailing list archives but didn't find them online, please let me know where to look if I am mistaken. We are on Observium Professional 0.16.10.8181, stable svn update rev 8201 shown so looks up to date. We are having problems using the toggle or disable for an entire column on the device properties port page. I thought it might be a browser issue but I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE from different computers with no luck. Currently the button just behaves like the save button and submits the form instead of changing the status on the existing page. Any thoughts on what else I could check would be appreciated.

Device Down false positive

Hi Tom, well it cannot really be that the device is marked as down by alert. Test conditions are as follows: device_status_type ping device_status equals 0 If I understand it correctly, even if snmp is not reachable the device should NOT be marked as down, because it is pingable. Therefore I do not understand why it is still marked as down. Squash the Hamster!

No, let's not stand on the hamster, put the PNG could be a lot smaller. Using observium on a site with a slow line, during the login, the hamster takes longer to load than needed. When I throw the PNG into https://tinypng.com/ It shrinks from 359KB -> 67KB. Seems worthwile. Maybe some other PNG's can be shrunken aswell? Greetings, Marc

Device Down False positive and snmpget

Hello folks, today I got kinda strange problem. I got a Server up and running fine but it is still shown as device down. "Device status changed to Down (ping)" After some debugging and digging into the workflow of polling and checking egc. I tried to redo the different checks that could lead to a device down. First of all: Is it pingable ? root@om:/tmp# /usr/bin/fping -t1000 -t 500 -c 20 -q 84.200.41.226 84.2xx.xxx.xxx : xmt/rcv/%loss = 20/20/0%, min/avg/max = 0.20/0.30/0.43 seems good to me - no idea why it should be down by ping. Is the hostname resolvable? Yes it is. Standart ping with hostname is working fine. Systems no longer show up

Good day everyone! We are no longer seeing anything via the webui. I suspect it is due to a loss of network connectivity over the weekend. Seeing the following in the db.log now: Failed dbQuery (#2006 - MySQL server has gone away) Initial investigation seems to suggest that the client has become disconnected from the mariadb server (they are the same system) and so I'm wondering if there is an easy recovery method. Restarting services has not worked and the server has been rebooted. Still no change. Any help is greatly appreciated!
