Hi, How can we _Force_ the disablement of discovering hosts via LLDP/XDP? Normally when running poller.php, with '$config['autodiscovery']['xdp'] = FLASE;' set in config.php, everything is fine. However when running '/opt/observium/discovery.php', it finds a switch, and we have LLDP enabled on our servers and switches for other processes related to the management of servers. However this means that Observium takes over an hour to discover a single Virtual Cassis which has 192 ports, with over 100 active servers (all showing up in the LLDP on the switch). Obviously this is a waste of time, and unnecessarily stressful for the servers being scanned and the Observium server. Why is discovery.php not honouring '$config['autodiscovery']['xdp'] = FLASE;' as set in config.php? Cheers, Andy.

Device Properties - Ports - Toggle Not Working

I tried looking for mailing list archives but didn't find them online, please let me know where to look if I am mistaken. We are on Observium Professional 0.16.10.8181, stable svn update rev 8201 shown so looks up to date. We are having problems using the toggle or disable for an entire column on the device properties port page. I thought it might be a browser issue but I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE from different computers with no luck. Currently the button just behaves like the save button and submits the form instead of changing the status on the existing page. Any thoughts on what else I could check would be appreciated.

Device Down false positive

Hi Tom, well it cannot really be that the device is marked as down by alert. Test conditions are as follows: device_status_type ping device_status equals 0 If I understand it correctly, even if snmp is not reachable the device should NOT be marked as down, because it is pingable. Therefore I do not understand why it is still marked as down. Squash the Hamster!

No, let's not stand on the hamster, put the PNG could be a lot smaller. Using observium on a site with a slow line, during the login, the hamster takes longer to load than needed. When I throw the PNG into https://tinypng.com/ It shrinks from 359KB -> 67KB. Seems worthwile. Maybe some other PNG's can be shrunken aswell? Greetings, Marc

Hello folks, today I got kinda strange problem. I got a Server up and running fine but it is still shown as device down. "Device status changed to Down (ping)" After some debugging and digging into the workflow of polling and checking egc. I tried to redo the different checks that could lead to a device down. First of all: Is it pingable ? root@om:/tmp# /usr/bin/fping -t1000 -t 500 -c 20 -q 84.200.41.226 84.2xx.xxx.xxx : xmt/rcv/%loss = 20/20/0%, min/avg/max = 0.20/0.30/0.43 seems good to me - no idea why it should be down by ping. Is the hostname resolvable? Yes it is. Standart ping with hostname is working fine. Systems no longer show up

Good day everyone! We are no longer seeing anything via the webui. I suspect it is due to a loss of network connectivity over the weekend. Seeing the following in the db.log now: Failed dbQuery (#2006 - MySQL server has gone away) Initial investigation seems to suggest that the client has become disconnected from the mariadb server (they are the same system) and so I'm wondering if there is an easy recovery method. Restarting services has not worked and the server has been rebooted. Still no change. Any help is greatly appreciated! CheckPoint alert creation problem

Hello, I have a CheckPoint 2205 device. It is supported by Observium, so we love it :D I would like to create an alert for it’s fan speed. I do a normal alert like our other looks like: Device: hostname match *cpfw01* Entity match: sensor_class equals fanspeed Test condition: sensor_value greater 3000 With this settings if i push a Rebuild, it shows 0 entities. How can i check what is wrong? I tried to change the fanspeed to temperature, but the problem is similar, 0 entities after rebuild. I attached a picture about the graphs of the device. Hmm... if i run a „rebuild” there are see lot of devices but there is no any „FW” devices however we have more whit this FW prefix. May be this is the problem? It looks like this list doesn’t show all of our devices. Thanks Br Laszlo

ignore mount regex for freenas storage points

Hi All observium is picking up on the jails running on our freenas cube they are also picking up on a few storage points that are always full 100% of the time and I’m trying to exclude them from showing them $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] is what i need to do (i think?) but I’m not 100% sure what the regex should be? below are sample of the storage point names /mnt/Drive1/Jails/observium/dev /mnt/Drive1/Jails/plex/proc /compact/linux/prox /dev/fd any help would be lovely community! regards Simon

I've set the following in config.php but I am not sure if it will give the desired effect: $config['alerts']['interval'] = 0; Is this the correct way to achieve this? It's just taken till now to find why it broke (cause i have free time, i'm testing 0.16.9.8118 and found the error again) The problem lies in line 200 of html/includes/authenticate.inc.php (v0.16.9.8118) if (!$_SESSION['authenticated'] && (authenticate($_SESSION['username'], $auth_password) || // login/password in older versions, "$auth_password" was "$_SESSION['password']". by replacing "$auth_password" with "$_SESSION['password']"., AuthBasicFake works again. Potential RRD Cache bug with Unix Agent / Applications

Hi, Not sure if this is a bug, or a cannot fix, but; If rrdcached is running and "$config['rrdcached'] = "unix:/var/run/rrdcached.sock" is configured in config.php, the graphs for the Unix Agent do not work. I can understand why Smokeping does not work if it does not know how to read and write from the unix socket (so we created a link to SmokePing in the Globe menu). But I cannot think why the Observium UNIX Agent does not work, as that is a part of Observium, and the rest of observium works with rrdcached. I can only guess that the UNIX Agent poller is not writing to the UNIX socket and is still trying to write to /opt/observium/rrd/, however when I disable RRDCache and remove the rrdcached line from config.php, all the old data appears. This makes me think that the UNIX Agent poller is writting to the socket correctly, and it is just Observium itself that is failing to revert to reading from the UNIX socket for Applications etc. Cheers, Andy.

Hello, I updated my Ubuntu VM from version 14.04 to 16.04 (LTS). After doing so PHP was not working as Observium's GUI wouldn't load. I updated PHP and PHP MYSQLI accordingly. I'm on v7 now. I was able to get to the login screen and login, however, after, I get a blank window. running observium on freebsd

quering raid status on adaptec, lsi, 3w cli

Is there a way to get the current raid status of the common controllers? We are using several LSI 9xxxx series some adaptec 6405 8405 and from time to time 3ware controllers. I've noticed that there is a discovery module for raid but if enabled nothing happens. Looking into some codes even through the unix agent there is only cfggen but no support for megacli like stuff. Any workarounds? Other methods to get the status? Checker/Alert Notification Issue

Hi, I have a BGP alert checker / notification that doesn't seem to be working like it used to. The check applies to only about 140 peers. It's the standard test that the documentation provides. Enitity/Device match are * and the test is: bgpPeerAdminStatus equals start bgpPeerState notequals established I've noticed recently that I have only been getting some device notifications while the others don't even make it to the mail queue, however observium says that a notification was sent. I've tried deleting the alert checker and recreating it with the same results. Context switches since upgrade

I upgraded our community edition on Monday from the previous release dated 5/4/2016 to the latest release. I'm using observium to monitor the VM on which it is running, which is CentOS 6. The context switches graph has gone from hovering around 3500 to about 4200 immediately after the upgrade. System interrupts have increased by about the same percentage, and System I/O and Load Average have bumped up slightly. Are all of these typical of this upgrade? Nothing else was done to the system or to the devices being monitored. The increase in all these graphs (and a corresponding significant decrease in Observium performance) all correspond exactly in time to the upgrade. I've been wondering why it's performing worse, and then I noticed these items. Just looking for ideas or any helpful suggestions, and if this is to be expected. Thanks. Bill

Carel / pCo Discovery

Hi all, I see that there has just been an update to the detection of the Carel pCo controllers, which has added a lot of new sensor definitions for many people I expect (a good thing would have been an awful lot of work for someone which is appreciated of course!). Unfortunately, as the pCo is a programmable unit (and we are an OEM/unit programmer for Carel) we use the units for a large number of custom applications across a number of our facilities and customers. Previously we weren't getting any sensor-specific information via Observium for these units (just network, CPU, ram etc.) which is OK as we use other BMS systems to get the environmental data. Since the last update, we are getting a load of sensors but unfortunately (since our units are programmed by us) they are now showing alarms across most of the output, for example: The values being polled are also non-sensical because whatever the OIDs which are being used are either not aligned to anything we use or just totally irrelevant values. Humidity example below (obviously it's not 3,4 and 16 %): Interestingly, we do also have some 'official' Carel chiller controllers (running genuine Airedale control pCO units, not our own) - and these are also showing crazy values as chillers (no matter where you get them from) do not have 'Delivery Air Temperature' or 'Humidification Proportional Bands' as they don't' deal with air directly - for example: So it appears the detection logic is not just limited to incorrectly identifying our own custom controllers but also those of other manufacturers like Airedale, who also use Carel OEM pCO hardware like us. With all this in mind, can I ask what is the best way to prevent these devices from being detected as " Carel pCOWeb (Chiller Unit) ". So that they go back to being simple pCOWeb units with basic stats like Ethernet and CPU? Example device data is: So like I said at the start, I fully appreciate there was a lot of effort by someone to get all these sensors setup and that's great for people using the software they were configured to detect. Hi, I'm trying to build out an BGP peer alert for a specific vrf/mpls customer. RRD Graphs Not Generated.

Hi, I upgraded this morning to the latest version and for some reason the graphs are now not being generated (rrd). I do see the files being updated (date and time looks as of now). You can see here for example the CPUs are 100% (should be) however the graph shows nothing. [image: Inline image 1] Any ideas? Thanks Laurence
