processors no rrd graphs

Hi All having a strange issue for some reason when i originally added a server, it only found 4 processors, (the server actually had 2 x quad core xeons) i did an observium update recently and suddenly 8 processors now appear but the processors graph is just showing ERROR now ive been able to find the issue the 4 new processors arnt putting any data into the rrd files ? Disable email alerts

Hi all, When temporarily disabling email alerts we used to set: $config['email']['enable'] = FALSE; As per: http://www.observium.org/docs/config_options/#email-backend-settings <http://www.observium.org/docs/config_options/#email-backend-settings> However this is no longer working. Device availability - possible feature request?

Hi For the purposes of alerting, is availability a a metric that can be used, and if not is it possible to add somthing where we could create an alert i.e. Type device device_availabilty le 99.5% Device Match * Entity Match * Delay 1 The issue I see is that the duration or scope is a defining factor, i.e availability over X days or X months etc

I/O Latency Metric Alert?

Hi, Is there an attachment point for alerts to be triggered from the metric of I/O Latency? Reason for asking is that I could do with an alert checker which would have spotted this issue (the scale is in seconds!): It went unnoticed overnight until it crippled a virtual host when users started accessing VMs on it this morning. The underlying fault was a RAID card issue, but nothing else detected it and I've just found that Observium 'knew' about it, but we have not alerts which would have caught this. Any ideas? Cheers! SNMP MIB Import

Device Commets and notes

Hi, I can see that a ticket has been raised for adding a place to add comments and notes to devices on ticket OBSERVUM-249 http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-249 The workaround is to use the Description field. However this field is too small to store much useful info, and cannot be read easily as the field does not expand to show more characters. IPMI

Hi, I have two servers both with IPMI ports enabled and working. Within Observium I have configured the IPMI Settings for both servers. For one of the servers Observium displays the relevant IPMI information (e.g, CPU Temp etc) however for the second server, the information is not displayed. Firmware are identical. I have confirmed the IPMI configuration a number of times and connectivity does not appear to be the issue. Anyway to troubleshoot this? Thanks Laurence

Hi, We configured a billing type CDR/95th, but notice the values for outbound & 95th percentile are the same.Screenshot of the historical usage overview: We have a subscription and this is on version 0.16.3.7703 (22nd March 2016).Today we updated to version 0.16.8.8068 (23rd August 2016). APC NetBotz. Support for 'Dry contact inputs'....?

Hello Not sure if this is the proper channel for feature requests. But it would be awesome to have support for the ‘Dry contact inputs’ on the APC NetBotz devices. Still not sure how to do a proper likeable snmpwalk so someone will probably shake their head and wave their fist in fury over this one. But hey, at least I tired. =) Snmpwalk output: http://pastebin.com/qcV8vX98 That one have 4 connected ‘dry contact inputs’ and you can see their name under for instance ‘emsProbeConfigProbeName.<n>’, ‘emsProbeStatusProbeName.<n>’ and ‘emsInputContactConfigInputContactName.<n>’ and then some... Also normal state and current state are represented in that walk. This particular netbotz is in charge of switching to secondary cooling circuit and firing those pumps up in case of failure on main circuit. Not seeing unix system graphs

I’ve got a CentOS 6.7 VM (that runs my Observium instance, currently at version 8068-stable) that I’m trying to monitor with the unix agent described here: http://www.observium.org/docs/unix_agent/ Installation of the agent went fine, as did the telnet testing from the host itself. I got a bunch of data via telnet. Also, SNMP has already been configured on the server and it’s polling itself properly (as far as I can tell) From my Observium web page, I see the system and can some details for it. The Overview shows me high level system info (kernel version, hostname, Location, uptime, etc) and the Event Log. Graphs only show Agent Execution Time, Ping Response, SNMP Response, and Poller Duration. From looking at the live demo on the Observium website, I’m assuming I should be seeing a bunch of additional data (processors, memory, netstat data, load averages, etc, etc, etc). I’ve taken a look at the device configuration settings and can’t see anything that I’m missing. Any ideas for what to look at next will be much appreciated. Thanks, Glenn Cooper

Observium group alerting?

Can the grouping system be utilized for alerting at this time? Example: setup alert checker to monitor device status of a group of devices and send single alert if any of those devices goes down. Or is the grouping feature only used for information viewing and scheduled maintenance? We are looking at options for suppressing amount of alerts that can occur at some of our larger locations. bind_cache failing to write via RRDCached

Hi, Having a good time today…! Got another oddity since the upgrade of the Observium server itself to 16.04 unfortunately :( In summary, all servers running BIND (they are still on 14.04) have now got zero ‘cache content’ stats since the Observium server was upgraded on Tuesday. However, all the other BIND stats are working OK: [cid:image001.jpg@01D1D944.38CA7190] Looking at the debug output, it is getting the data fine, and it’s writing out the values to RRDCacheD OK. I tried disabling RRDCacheD – it started working straight away. So, it looks like RRDCacheD (version 1.5.5 under 16.04) is unhappy with writing the ‘Cache’ elements content output for BIND. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s either: 1) something to do with the quantity of DS elements within that RRD (all 42 of them) 2) something relating to the use of an “!” in the name of the elements (that’s a proper random guess) The write attempt is: mupdate /opt/observium/rrd/x.y.net/app-bind-23-cache-default.rrd N:6:3:::392500:799:13060:27296:825744:29:17815:555:67263:160:8::9660:2238:49:382:23:14:::::::259181:22:2::45094::26347::::::6715::::::: My old RRDCacheD config was: DISABLE=0 OPTS="-w 1800 -z 1800 -f 3600 -s www-data -l unix:/var/run/rrdcached.sock -j /var/lib/rrdcached/journal/ -F -b /opt/observium/rrd -B" MAXWAIT=30 ENABLE_COREFILES=0 The new config has different parameters, so I’ve setup as follows: DAEMON=/usr/bin/rrdcached WRITE_TIMEOUT=1800 WRITE_JITTER=1800 BASE_PATH=/opt/observium/rrd/ JOURNAL_PATH=/var/lib/rrdcached/journal/ PIDFILE=/var/run/rrdcached.pid SOCKFILE=/var/run/rrdcached.sock SOCKGROUP=www-data BASE_OPTIONS="-F -B" Does anyone know of anything which could cause this? RANCID tab gone after update to 8068

As the title says, upgraded via svn to 8068 and the config tab is gone. Integration to smokeping still works, as well as the user agents and everything else, but no rancid. Rancid setup is still in the config file too. Anyone else seen it disappear after any update? On a side note, svn is reporting at revision 8069 while the gui is reporting 8068. Ldap issues with edit users

Hi All, If anyone is using the ldap piece, I need your assistance. When you navigate to users --> edit users, it says no users in database, then any navigation to any other link, it brings you to the login screen. Most of the time, it will never load the edit users page and you can no longer navigate anything. Closing the tab out on the browser doesn't help either. Observium becomes unresponsive. Very rarely, it will actually show the users. It seems like something is clearing some cache in the background. Anyone experiencing these issues with ldap? Thanks, ----------------------- Leo Dano

Time on X-axis of graphs is 1 hour off.

Hello What setting have I missed when my time on the X-axis on the graphs is one hour off (-1). Time of alerts are okay. So only the graph that shows -1 hour. ‘date’ on the server shows proper date and time. DHCP scope is exported by SNMP, for SCOPE capacity and usage, but given generic OID feature can graph a single data source, it's dificult to make that counter useful. Any suggestions? Problem to update machine location

Hi, I have moved some virtual servers to another data center. I have updated their syslocation code in their snmp file /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf Snmpwalk and poller display the right (new) syslocation code, but Observium does not. Which items did I miss on the checklist? Thx Bernard

App alerting

I saw a few weeks back a commit 8083 added "Add ability to store JSON data for apps.” and got all excited. Is this the starting for app-based alerting? I have amended my FreeSWITCH poller to store an array in my app name in readiness for the potential of some app-alerting goodness and see it now gets logged in a new column applications.app_json. If only there were a way to create an alert checker that polled it! :) Maybe like Device Match: "os equals linux” Entity Match: “application equals freeswitch”, condition: "peaksessionspersecond greater 10”? ubuntu upgrade 14.04->16.04; VRF list is not showing?

Tried a test upgrade here on a system running observium professional (0.16.8.8086). Ubuntu upgrade went fine, added in mcrypt, php7.0. Was able to get into observium and most items looked ok that I could find with the exception of the VRF listing. (attached) The other areas, BGP, OSPF, etc all list out fine. The VRF section, as you can see lists the 2151 VRF's that we have but they are not displayed/listed. I checked php.ini, memory limit was set to 1024M which is the same I had w/ php5 under 14.04. Went back to 14.04 and figured I'd ask if anyone here who's done a similar upgrade has seen anything similar or any ideas on what else I can check?

Hi there. Since the 19th of July, when I most probably svn up'ed, I have two identical devices that spams the logs with "Interface changed: [ifAdminStatus] '' -> '0'". They're 2 Tandberg LTO libraries and the're no sensor monitored in it, since not supported, but only the admin interface availability. Hello, I’m using Observium on a virtual machine, with rrdtool 1.6.0 and rrdcached. For now, it takes up to 80 seconds to poll 87 devices. I'm just curious - is it good or bad time? poller-wrapper.py(10710): /opt/observium/poller-wrapper.py: polled 87 devices in 77.74 seconds with 12 workers Regards,

Openstreetmap / Cartocdn wrong certificate

Hi All I just came back from vacation and updated Observium. The map is now done with OSM/Carto, which is nice, boot it took me a while to find out why no map was loading. As it looks like all the cdn nodes have no SAN for *.basemaps.cartocdn.com The tiles get loaded in my browser from a.basemaps.cartocdn.com b.basemaps.cartocdn.com c.basemaps.cartocdn.com After adding an exception for these, all works well.. Does anyone have the same issue? Observium LDAP Edit Users very buggy

Hello, I think I may have found the specific device access only via the Edit Users area. The only issue is that it is hit n miss. I sometimes can see my ldap users that have logged in and sometimes not. Once I do see the users, I edit one and give that person access to a group, but if I click any link, it puts me back at the login page. Which takes a few tries to log back in. Then sometimes when I click the edit users, no users show up. Is this part of the bugginess of Observium and LDAP integration? I am using the latest version per Subscription. Ughh, need help. ldap login levels and narrow what they see?

We currently have ours using ldap and have a specific ldap group as admins "level 10" We also have a level 5 login which is not admins. Is there a way to narrow down what the non admins see as far as hosts? Thanks, ----------------------- Leo Dano

Rancid integration - config tabs won't show up

Hi @ll First, I want to give you guys from Observium a big thumb up because having a such easy webapp, so easily maintainable, so powerful and all without marketing layers and super complicated licensing makes you kind of unique on the market. Now to the issue, I'm trying to integrate my rancid files into the latest stable version of Observium (did it last week following official observium tutorial). Now I have multiple entries in the config.php (because of multiple router.db files/directories in rancid) : $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper1/configs/"; $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper2/configs/"; $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper3/configs/"; $config['rancid_ignorecomments'] = 0; All the /var/lib/rancid/ directory is chowned by rancid:rancid. www-data is in rancid group. I restarted apache2. I cleared the cache from browser. I checked the config in the observium web-interface and it's correctly read by the server (I see the lines above). I checked the hostnames, and the ones I am backing up with rancid are matching the ones registered in the observium. But there are some observium devices I am not backing up yet. Interface percent usage (ifInOctets_perc) going above 100

Hi there, I've configured an alert that checks if ifInOctets_perc exceeds 80% utilisation and I'm finding that the alert is being triggered for normal amounts of traffic. What steps can I take to resolve this?
