Hello, First of all, congratulations for your great product :) I have been searching this the forum but I can't find an answer for this :( We are currently using Observium Pro v18.10.9500. I'm trying to configure emailing so that I would like to be notified on some alerts generated by some of the alert checkers but not all of them, but I'm not able to do it :( Currently I'm receiving email alerts from all of my checkers. User access levels

Hi, I have another beginner question please. I have setup Active Directory authentication, but how can I limit users to exact devices? I really do not want for some users to see anything else than they need to and all of them have level 1 access. And I can't see any option to limit them or assign user to device. Also it would be great to assign users to exact device group I have created. Thanks a lot Tibor

How to add a device which only responds to ping/icmp?

Hi How can i add a device which cannot (!) speak any snmp and only responds to ping/icmp requests? We have an Aruba wlan setup (Mobility Master and two Mobility Controllers) and i want to add the aps to Observium, so that they are monitored but only by ping/icmp. Many devices shown as down(dns)

Hello all, I can see in my observium installation that many devices changed their status to down(dns). This is a new installation and we migrated the configuration yesterday on a new server and devices were working properly. At around the same time (14:20:00) a lot of our machines changed their status to down. The message in the Event log is "Device status changed to Down (dns)". I tried to find what the problem may be but I can see SNMP are correct and dns records exist for the systems. Any ideas? Thank you, Marios

web console logon issue

Greetings, I recently ran into a problem with logging into the web portal for Observium. I enter the user name and password, and nothing happens, Has anyone run into this? I have run all updates and maintenance I could find on the support site with no luck. "reset limits" doesn't work with one switch

Hi everyone, I have a problem with the "reset limits" function: On a device with many sensors (305) I can't recalculate the limits using "reset limits" in the device-preferences. Normally a note with the message appears: "Reset limits for Current sensor foo"; they will be recalculated on the next discovery run." But with this device this message does not appear. Of course I don't know if it has to do with the number of sensors but it is the only device where the problem occurs. Can I reset the limit values directly via the database? Thanks! Helge

question about alert checker TEST

Hello, I'm using alert checker with quite standard check: ifInOctets_perc ge 90 ifOutOctets_perc ge 90 But sometimes the SNMP returns incorrect value like 134651%, especially in Nexus devices. I would like to prevent that with inserting test value like: ifInOctets_perc le 100. But i'm wondering if it's possible to do this in single rule in Observium that would look like this: (ifInOctets_perc ge 90 and ifInOctets_perc le 100) or (ifOutOctets_perc ge 90 and ifOutOctets_perc le 100) Or i need to create separate rules for both groups ? Hi, on several Stormshield firewalls, I read some issues: * the firewalls are detected as Generic devices, while some time ago they were correctly detected as Stormshield firewalls * some ports report wrong speed: e.g. on 8 gigabit ports same appliance, some appears with 4Mbps, 20Mbps or 1Gbps, even by correcting them in its properties The second one isn't simply a cosmetic issue, because threshold alerts are generated with ordinary traffic. Hi Team, I am seeing some issues when I go to php version 8.1 on the server running Observium. It displays `/opt/observium/html/idex.php` in raw format. Everything works fine if I go back to php 7.4. Is php 8.1 not supported yet on observium? Regards Renuka Arya

MySQL IO Wait

Hey list We keep adding devices to Observium, and it seems we're getting close to some tipping point for MySQL performance. Looking at output from "top" we frequently see high iowait: [cid:image001.png@01D89790.EF319B00] Looking at iotop, it seems that MySQL is the aggressor here: [cid:image002.png@01D89790.EF319B00] We figured syslog was the culprit at first, and tried disabling that for a while to see if stuff died down. It did not. Been playing a little with mytop, and even though we have a QPS around 780, it's not possible for me to nail down what queries are hogging the IO on the server. I googled around and did some changes to the InnoDB, and though I saw improvements, they were not as massive as I had hoped. This is what I currently have changed from defaults: [mysqld] # This is a little too much for the installed 8G in the machine and will be adjusted at a later time. Just trying stuff out now. innodb_buffer_pool_size=6G # We have fast SSD drives on vSAN innodb_io_capacity=1000 # Don't flush file write so often, be more relaxed. innodb-flush-method=O_DIRECT_NO_FSYNC So I'm kind of stumped here. It's not killing Observium totally just yet, but we have experienced some outages this week and will probably see more as we keep adding devices. Any recommendations will be much appreciated. Alert checker failing

Hi list Why does this fail: [cid:image001.png@01D8A68F.E52D3930] I tried with both "online" and "onLine", but saw no difference. I tried deleting and recreating the check to make sure nothing was stuck somewhere. It went straight to failed on the first poll. I'm trying to monitor a bunch of UPS devices. They are from diffent vendors, and some reports "normal", other reports "onLine". The ones reporting "normal" works fine, but the ones reporting "onLine" all fails. Mailing list migration

Hi Guys, We've migrated the list to a new setup running Mailman 3. It all seems to work ok, and I've important the historical archives which are now available at https://lists.observium.org/hyperkitty/list/observium@lists.observium.org/ It will likely be necessary to use the password recovery process for the Mailman account in order to access the archives and control the settings of your subscription. It might have migrated existing passwords from the old system, but who knows, Mailman 2 was ancient! This doubles as a test post! :D Thanks, adam.
