Guys, I've disabled polling sensors module some time ago but had some ignored which still show up in the GUI: [cid:image001.png@01D39C05.F6D4D830] When I click to check what those are, it's an empty tab: [cid:image002.png@01D39C05.F6D4D830] Is there any way to purge all sensors which have been collected prior to module being disabled? Guys, any plans to do similar to LibreNMS of exporting stats to Grafana for nice graphs? Hi, Does anyone know why my Observium stop generating graphics, what i think first was a trouble with the connection or the network, but them i add the Observium Server to the devices and it happens the same. Hard Disk SMART monitoring

Hi everyone! I recently stumbled upon a blog post <http://geekness.be/observium-unix-agent-and-smart-attributes/> about making the Unix Agent deliver disk SMART values as well. The only problem is the post is from 2014 and as I saw there has been quite some changes in Observium since that time. Is there anyone who managed to make this (or any other) solution to work? Is there some plan to integrate SMART monitoring into Observium? Regards, Tylla Ps: If I remember correctly there was some discussion about this a few years back but there wasn't any final result.

Hi everyone, when I am troubleshooting I often take a look at the port graphs. If I find an irregularity and want to take a closer look at it I have to fiddle around with the From and To Fields until I have the right time window. Therefore I would really like the graphs in observium to be zoomable. Log full of Interface Speed change messages for Fortigate 600D cluster

The event log for our FGT600D is full of many thousands of messages like below. All the same speeds etc but for each port over and over. I have several FGT60E's as well on the same level of OS but they do not have the same events. The 600D is in a A/P cluster. Not sure what I need to do to prevent the messages? Any suggestions? Device randomly now taking longer to poll

Hi All Im trying to work out why 1 of our switches has all of a sudden decided to now take 28s to poll, even tho using it for months its only taken 9s? From the 'tab=perf' of the device, its showing ‘ports’,’fdb-table’,’netstats’,’ospf’ are showng as really high, 9sec each really? I have restarted the equipment incase it was maybe that, same issue Ive upgraded to the latest firmware too but still the same issue? Any other ideas where I can look? Cannot login. can this be license related?

Hello Noticed yesterday that I had issues logging in to observium and the issues have continued. I don't get any error it just reloads the page and asks for user/pass, no "wrong password", "unknown user" nor "license error". I have looked in all logs I can think of but I cannot find a trace of what could be causing this. I have some sort of memory that there was some oddness when you renew your license. I can run 'svn update' though and if it was license related I don't think that works, right? Tried update AFTER I realised I cannot login, so not related to update. Nothing have changed in the environment or with the installation. Any pointers to where I should look for clues? Monitoring MPLS LSPs

Hello there. I've just started working on a new module to include support for MPLS LSPs. Since I only have access to Juniper hardware I'm only working exclusively with the MPLS-MIB but it should be fairly easy to support other MIBs (like Cisco's MPLS-TE mib) because the dataset is pretty much the same. I have the discovery and polling modules ready. If anyone with experience on the web interface wants to join me, please let me know. Luis

Alerts on custom OID

Hi, Trying to setup alerts on custom OID, my OID returns just a number and want to alert if it's above or below that. What do I use for the conditions? Im assuming fort the device associations I can reference by hostname or is there other OID/SNMP specific ones? I don't see this anywhere in the docs. So no clue what to put :) Thanks!

MIB support for UniFi APs and controller

Hello Id like to ask to add the support for UniFi APs (gen1 and 2 should be working, gen3 has issues as far as i know). Ubiquiti networks provide 2 MIBs which are attached. One is for the UniFi controller, one for all APs I saw that there is a feature request for the CE at [1], but as i read there hasn't been any real progress yet. If i can help somethin in this matter, please let me know (we have quite a bunch of gen1 and 2 APs, thats why i ask). In the doc it says under Alert Settings - this is only applicable to subscription edition. Does that mean just the first item (alerter = true)? Port Description parsing doesn't work for custom port desctiptions

HI, Ager setting up observium with distributed pollers we are no longer able to display stats for our custom defined ports, while Descriptions that are built work just fine ( Transit, Peering,Core ). For example in config.php we have the following. $config['int_groups'][] = "DCI"; Selecting DCI from Ports menu would display the following: [image: Inline image 1] I also noticed that port_descr_type column in ports table is not being populated resulting in description parsing not to work: [image: Inline image 2] Did anyone experience something similar ? Hello everyone, I am new to Observium and I have a question, can someone explain to me how the polling works? And the email alerts are sent when the device is down/up(Recover) or when the polling time is met? Hello, Recently we had a case when network infrastructure went down, and only after some time we fixed it. Observium noticed it and everything was OK. But in meantime of fixing it - Observium started to flood with alerts - this may be the correct case. But after we repaired the network - and everything was OK, we still had a flood of old errors and it continued about an hour or so. I tried to disable email alerts through config.php, supress all alerts through WEB interface - but nothing helped. So is there any manual way to stop the Alerting queue ? Thanks

Monitoring interfaces is about as industry standard as it gets. If we're not picking up a port, it's because your device is bizarrely not exposing it. Have you tried walking the ifTable and seeing if it's present? Hello, We are currently running Pro r8993 with 650+ devices and will be adding another 400 or so shortly, to support this we will try a deployment as described in some detail by Markus: http://blog.best-practice.se/2017/10/scaling-observium-horizontally.html We do however also have another edge case to deal with in the form of an infrastructure that we cannot look into but can send out of, the inhibitor is political and not technical. We are halfway to solving it technically however by using a poller remotely with wildcard host name matching as the 'remote' stuff has a common domain part. Our other 'normal' pollers however need to be told to exclude or skip polling / discovery of the remote devices. Can a wildcard skip or exclude be added to the poller-wrapper script for this purpose? Missing EngineID

Hi all, I am a new user of observium and I am doing some tests with few devices before deploying it on a wider network. When I try to add my first device (with -d option), it only partially works. Then at the end of the log I have this: SQL[INSERT INTO `devices` (`hostname`,`sysName`,`status`,`snmp_community`,`snmp_port`,`snmp_transport`,`snmp_version`,`os`,`snmpEngineID`,`location`,`sysContact`) VALUES ('172.16.192.102','Terlapini RB Sottotetto','1','public','161','udp','v2c','routeros','','Gussago','Elsy')] SQL RUNTIME[0.04079700s] Devices failed: 1. So, it seems that the script will try to add the device but with an empty EngineID field. The result is that the device is added (e.g. I can see it in the device when accessing e.g. via web interface, but when I click on it, it does not show up in the list with a reply that there are no devices matching the search criterias). I also noticed that if I try to add a second device with same EngineID problem, the SQL INSERT will fail with ' duplicate key' error. I have the impression that the EngineID is used as a unique key in the SQL DB and if it is empty this may cause problems. Am I right? In this case, I have to understand why I cannot get the EngineID from the device. Tnx Alberto

Graphing BIND with multiple views?

Hi all, I'm trying to graph BIND stats, which the normal method works well, but in this case the recursive-only server has multiple views configured and the stats returned by RNDC are broken into categories based on views. The Observium "Server Statistics" page looks accurate, but the Resolving and Queries page have almost data recorded (some data in "Errors" and "Incoming Queries" respectively, but not complete in either section). Professional SVN updates failing

I don't believe there is an HSRP tracker. It's definitely not in the sensor entity type. Alerts on Aggregate values or sums?

Bit of an RFE here, would like to be able to alert on the aggregate value for a group, or do sums in the alert checker test field, unless I’m just missing how to do this? My particular use check is adding up the total power for a 3 phase PDU (and a group for the power panel), and alerting if the total watts or amps are greater than 80% of the circuit capacity. Total Power Output on my APC 3 phase PDUs doesn’t work for me here because it’s dependent on the power factor of the connected devices, and that isn’t readily available in observium. Even if it was, I’d still need math (division this time) on two values. Sums/aggregates seem like the easiest route for this task. Thanks, -Darrell

The device was reachable and etc. I did a "rebuild' and they're reappeared again. What could be the cause ? NXOS ? :)

To reformulate it, changing the day/week/month/year history into something like day/week/month/year/10years... Hi, i have a problem with the Alerts, in the first case i dont recieve the emails alerts, after the update my alerts never send to my email. But before the update the emails alerting work fine... But my principal problem is the alerting notifications via email or slack or sms to differents groups and devices... Ex: I have 3 clients this clients have 50 devices each one... Problem with special characters on device descriptions / snmp location etc...

Hello We are using Observium CE as part of our monitoring systems at IslaLink / OranLink. A few weeks ago, we updated to the last CE version (17.9.0). Since then, we are experiencing problems with the interface descriptions that may contain some especial characters like “áóéñ…”. It also happens with the SNMP location string. Seems that this was an old bug that was already solved: Observium OBS-1396 UTF-8/ISO characters fail in SNMP location This is causing some events flood, and incorrect display. How do I correct this time discrepancy?

How do I fix the time discrepancy between my Observium server and the Observium UI? Please see the attached screenshot. The time on my server is correct but the time displayed on the UI is off by an hour. Also, the "Uptime" shown on the attached screenshot shows "Down 8h 4m 59s." Device names in Eventlog and Syslog Alerts.

Hi, I noticed that some (longer) device names aren't showing complete in the eventlog and syslog alerts. Can i fix this some how? Also, is there a possibility to add colors (red,green) to the syslog alerts? Some screen shots. Aggregate vs individual port graph maximum value & 95th % on bits graph

I have two graph questions that I haven't been able to get an answer on via IRC, so I thought this might be easier since I can include more information up front: 1st Question: A 2-port aggregate graph (agg_bits.png) shows a maximum value based on :AVERAGE while individual port graphs (port1_bits.png, port2_bits.png) for the ports that make up the aggregate show a maximum value based on :MAX. Is this intentional? If not, would it be possible to remove or toggle graphing average vs. maximum data on individual port graphs? I think both data points are useful, but in general when providing graphs the 5-minute average the only data we'd want to show them. More data below. 2nd Question: The "bits_old" graph includes 95th % both graphed and in the legend. Would it be possible to get the same for the other bits graphs, or at minimum, just bits? I did some digging and didn't find a means to use options via graphs.php to generate it myself. Ciena SAOS thresholds using incorrect OIDs

We recently added some Ciena 3942s and 3904s to our monitoring, and found that Observium (CE 17.9.8859) is picking up the wrong OID for some sensors. It seems that the same OID was reused for a couple of checks where they should have been the next in sequence, causing optics Tx power and voltage to not be properly checked. Alerts for an APC UPS

I want to generate alerts from our APC UPS. Mostly I want to be alerted it if goes onto battery backup power or if the battery needs replacing. Are these alertable? If so, does anyone have any example alert checkers they could share? Cheers, Tim

Grouping both ends of Core P2P links into single Graph

Hi, We are evaluating Observium at the moment, and we have many point-to-point links in our WAN as everyone should ;) Each end of the same p2p link is labeled to be identical; interface Te1/1/1 description CORE:DeviceA=DeviceB This results in two graphs in Observium. One for DeviceA (labelled "CORE:DeviceA=DeviceB") and one for DeviceB (labelled "CORE:DeviceA=DeviceB"). However as they are connected back-to-back to each other they show the exact same information (just "in" and "out" reversed obviously). Is it possible to merge these two ports/graphs into a single logical Core link? This would significantly save on screen real estate (halving the Core page at the least) and make tracing paths through the network much more logical. Similar to how the Customer graphs aggregate multiple ports with the same description together. But I guess throwing away one side of the link maybe? Details for each end could still be seen on the specific device's page to view locally significant things like port errors etc Thanks, Andy.

Hi all - I've noticed that some of my devices display an option to connect directly via SSH etc. as per attached screenshot but unfortunately not all devices provide this option. I presume this is device dependent since it appears that my Cisco & Mikrotik devices display this option but not Huawei or my Brocade switches Is this an Observium config or device based? Huawei Sub-interfaces - no traffic captured

Hi all - I've recently migrated a number of services to new Huawei kit and successfully discovered the device and all sub-interfaces etc. My problem is that Observium is not showing any traffic against any of the sub-interfaces. I can see the aggregated traffic fine but not at the sub interface level. I don't have the same problem on my older Cisco h/w Would appreciate any feedback on how to troubleshoot. Mal

Hi, I have a one question regarding migration devices in Observium from SNMPv2 to SNMPv3. I have in the Observium in this moment around 300 devices and want to use SNMPv3 instead of current SNMPv2c. How to trigger of checkpoint FW state in observium?

We're running observium pro stable release 17.10.8930 and are monitoring several checkpoint firewalls with it. I'm trying to figure out how to generate an alert when the firewalls fail over or when a state change occurs. I see that it's being polled as it's displayed for the device header. as you can see attached. This comes from checkpoint from the 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.5.6.0 OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2620.1.5.6.0 = STRING: "active" But I don't see any method to select that as an entity type? Anyone have any pointers?

unable to display openvpn graphs

Hi all i have recently added my openvpn server to observium server for openvpn application monitoring. i have installed {{ xinetd and copied the openvpn script to }}/usr/lib/observium_agent/local/openvpn path. I have opened the openvpn server management port by adding 1st line as "management 10.100.115.220 49000 /etc/openvpn/pass.txt and then restarted openvpn and xinetd. When i checked using netstat on openvpn server the server is listening on tcp port 49000.{{}} i can access the management console of openvpn when i run the following command from my observium server "telnet 10.100.115.220 49000" followed by a password. But i cannot see the graphs of load and users connected in the Web GUI. I have checked RRD folder also of the device there is no rrd file named openvpn.rrd or so. The unix agent is already added to observium server and when i do "telnet 10.100.115.220 36602 | grep openvpn" then i get the following output : (nobody,223056,32312,0.2) /usr/sbin/openvpn --config vpn-routing.conf --daemon vpn-routing (nobody,195680,15056,2.3) /usr/sbin/openvpn --daemon --writepid /var/run/openvpn/vpn-bridge.pid --cd /etc/openvpn/ --config vpn-bridge.conf But i cannot see the graphs in web gui someone please help.
