We will not provide assistance on the mailing list or IRC channel with running Observium on any platform other than Debian/Ubuntu." And I respect it. But I made everything to work perfect except one thing only and I am mad. On a RHEL 6 server I installed observium to /home/observium with observium (user) as owner running fcgi and not mod_php running as root / nobody or apache. Normal user. I made the cron work, permissions ok, everything ok under the normal user. The only thing I couldn't understand is the rewrite. I was getting a "No file specified" So I dig it. I had to change it from: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1/ to: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1/ [L] to make it work. And it worked. I can see everything like: host/devices/ host/device/device=2/ host/device/device=2/tab=graphs/ host/device/device=2/tab=graphs/group=system/ (and so on..) everything except this evil thing: When I am trying to edit a device properties to -for example- override the system location (Override sysLocation) I am getting this url: host/device/device=2/tab=edit/%2Fdevice%2Fdevice=2%2Ftab%3Dedit%2F/touch=yes/ Not Found The requested URL /device/device=2/tab=edit//device/device=2/tab=edit//touch=yes/ was not found on this server. I repeat, everything else works great. I can add devices, poller works, I can add users / dig and surf the frontend except this. Billing quota data collection

Hello, I have some ports in my billing environment that are pushing data outbound only. The table bill_data is not collecting on the ports that are outbound only. When I look at the setup of the billing id, it has a direction of in. Is the only way to change that direction to out is by editing the database directly? What determines that direction? Billing support ?

HI All, Really wanting to use the billing feature. I've installed the latest opensource version (Observium CE 0.13.10.4585) Running Ubuntu 13.04 i386 under openvz. Followed the instructions for Debian based install word for word. Added a hp switch and the below config to my config.php under the MySQL details: $config['enable_billing'] = 1; # Enable Billing $config['billing']['customer_autoadd'] = 1; # Enable Auto-add bill per customer $config['billing']['circuit_autoadd'] = 1; # Enable Auto-add bill per circuit_id $config['billing']['bill_autoadd'] = 1; # Enable Auto-add bill per bill_id In the web GUI under ports I don't see the billing option like is visible on the observium demo Anyone know what is going wrong ? No Graphs or no error messages on the Chart

Hello there, I followed the installation guide on the website and I was able to install observium on Ubuntu 12.04 with no issues but I don't see any graphs at all. I followed all the possible fixes and it still didn't fix the problem. Following are the fixes that I have done so far. (Updated the rrdtool to 1.472) (changed the permissions on RRD to root as the owner and the group) Below is part of the details when I ran "./poller.php -h all -d" (Note: this is only part of the logs or the message and I couldn't copy and paste the whole thing because it's so big ... Real-time graphs not handling much about 1gbps (64-bit problem?)

Hi all, I'm running community edition v0.13.10.4585 and polling a few C6500's and a Cisco Nexus 7k. I have a number of 10GE interfaces and 10GE etherchannel bundles. The 5 minute graphing appears to work fine, the numbers are accurate when I compare against another monitoring system in production. However, when I run a "real time" poll against an interface or port-channel, of any duration (2 secs to 60 secs), the numbers never crack much above 1gbps, and there are often negative numbers. This suggests 64-bit counters are not being used or being interpreted correctly, but I haven't looked at the code. Has anyone else seen this? If so, did I mess something up with the install or is there something I can do? Thanks, -- Stephen

Hey guys, I have the following alert checker: As you can see, the checker is applied only to server devices but I'd like to extend that to storage devices. Is there a simple way to modify the device match rule in something like "type equals (server or storage)"? I tried searching any suggestion on the wiki and on the mail archive, but I didn't find anything. Thanks for any hints, Stefano

Unix Agent

Still not quite understanding Unix Agent--- from the sounds of it, it has to be installed on all servers that Observium monitors? I finally have SNMP running on FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and from the FAQ's, etc, it really seems that I should bypass Net-SNMP with Observium. Regards, Ryan Milton
