Unable to Add Device from Web UI

Hello, hope someone can help. We are running 17.5.8587 rolling and we are unable to add a device using the WebUI, we get "Could not reach ServerName with given SNMP parameters using v2c." However adding a device from the command line with add_device.php and the same parameters works fine. Any suggestions welcome. Good day for all, I installed observium in red hat 6 and all seems good but graphs are showing no data, rrdtool is working, and and polling script is grabbing data from clients. - rrd directory permissions are 755 , owned by apache - tried to recompile rrdtool - crontab entries are working - recreated db Can you guys help me to troubleshoot? thanks in advance Kind regards, Patricio Hernan Besteiro

add_device.php ignoring port numbers - fix

Hi All, I recently added a list of devices that were behind the same IP address but each had different ports forwarded for snmp . I couldn't get the ports to be accepted as a variable using the add_device.php, one of my colleagues fixed the script so that it worked . Hi, Noticed that what seems to be all of our Cisco kit is no longer showing memory information in Observium (Running 8562 rolling)? If I look at one example Cisco device properties, the MIBS section looks like this, which suggests CISCO-MEMORY-POOL is suppressed and CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB is enabled. device_status metric

Unfortunately it gives lots of false positives, so perhaps I do not understand good enough how this checker checks if the connection is down or not ? Dear ALL, I am at version 0.16.11.8249 professional, this was working fine until recently, it is showing IPv4 traffic in GB's for some devices occasionally. Whilst other days it behaves normally. 500 error when rebuilding alert checkers

Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of standing up a new observium box and running into an issue where I create an alert checker for port errors. After creating the new checker, I click on rebuild and then get an HTTP 500 error. Attached is a screenshot of the configuration of the alert checker. I'm running 17.5.8561 (rolling) but did occur in a previous release and was hoping that upgrading would fix it but did not. -- Jay

Poller count

I'm frequently running out of memory on a 4 GB VM running CentOS7. The vm only runs Observium. I'm seeing a bunch of php /opt/observium/poller.php processes getting created and the box gradually runs out of memory and mariadb dies. I'm running version 8485. Any ideas? Thanks! Jay

RealTime traffic view problem

Is there a way to widen the auto generated limits across all system temperature oids? I tried adjusting the alert test conditions using arithmetic but I do not think it’s implemented. 95th percentile line wrong

Stuck alerts for sensors and statuses

Hi, Following a series of device upgrades and reloads over the last couple of days; we now have some 'invisible' stuck alerts: I cannot seem to find them anywhere, clicking them produces a blank list and even if you click the "Total" column. In this example I clicked the number "605" under Statuses but I get a page which only shows 595 items - so 10 missing, which equals the number of phantom alerts exactly. We had this once before and it was to do with devices, which are set to 'Ignore' for their alerts. We have 42 devices like this (a mixture of Lab and workstations) which unfortunately, would be a very large amount of manual checking. So I'm hoping there is a better way and I'm just missing it? :) So - any idea how I can find/reset/clear these items? Cheers! I've added print_message lines to see if my code is called. When I try another device e.g. a zyxel device I can see my code is executed. session problems with centos 7, php 70, and latest stable Observium

I’ve recently upgraded a commercial observium install to PHP 7 (from IUS) on Centos 7. Ever since, it’s been dropping my session and requiring a fresh login very very often. Sometimes as soon as I login, the links on the home page are telling me my session has expired, and sometimes everything works fine for hours. More often then not, I’m logged out within an hour though. This happens with basic mysql auth and ldap auth. I don’t see anything in the log files to indicate why the sessions are dropping, is there a debugging setting that can help me figure out what is going wrong? Any known gotchas under php 7.0 for the sessions? Looks like r7476 on the stable tree. Thanks, -Darrell

It start right away with the Enterprise entry's: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.14848.2.1.1.1.0 = STRING: "Version 1.62" Is there a way to add such an device? The values I'm interested in are in the enterprise part of the mib and could be easily retreated by a custom OID. But without an SysObjectId it seems impossible to add a device. Any Suggestions? Hello all, Today I added first Juniper MX480 to our Observium (Subscription Edition), but for some reason it doesn't discover physical interfaces. Loopbacks are properly discovered. What is interesting, when I look into "Inventory" I can see chassis, PEMs and FPCs. I've seen in the docs that MX960 is supported, so should be MX480. Cisco switches showing wrong Packet Size

Hi, No luck trying to review the Observium Archives see if this was asked before, getting a Not Found off the web link. Running Observium 17.3.8438 (stable), question on MTU size on Cisco interfaces. On our HP ProCurve switches with Jumbo enabled, all displays correctly, see MTU as 9216 on the interfaces as expected. On our Cisco models with Jumbo enabled, MTU shows 1500 on Average Packet Size graph. I believe this is due to Cisco interfaces showing the MTU as 1500 even when Jumbo frames are enabled and are passing Jumbo on the switch interfaces. Seeing this on both Cisco models 2960s and 3K the Average Packet Size found to be 1500. Any chance someone have a work around for this Cisco problem, able to set the MTU up to 9216 for the interfaces? Appreciated! Jim

Device not visible

Hello! We have a device that is no longer visible in Observium. It is not in the device list and the search function can't find it. I tried to add it again to Observium, but get this message: "Already got device xyz." Running "./discovery.php -h xyz" returns this: "WARNING: 0 devices discovered. I am having difficultly getting a Cyan Z77 to detect properly as a Cyan device in Observium. I noticed that the mib files came loaded in the mib folder with the initial installation. I have not added any add on modules yet. Running CentOS 7. HyperV CPU usage

Hello, I'm running some windows 2016 HyperVs and I'd like to get the CPU usage including the VMs so I can see which HyperV is overloaded and balance them out accordingly but what I get at the moment is just what the host is using which is about 2-5%. I know performance monitor can gather these status so is there any way to get observium to latch on to that CPU stst rather than just what the host is using? Overview page - Statuses - Down Column issue

Hello all, I am running SVN revision 8457 from 2017-03-19. I noticed that the overview page on the Statuses Row, Down column, showed "2 alert" but when I clicked on the link it would show no entries. After looking at the code and contents of the SQL data I found out that I have two power supplies that have a "down" state. This is accurate. In html/includes/cache-data.inc.php line 439 the switch statement increments the $cache['statuses']['stat']['alert'] variable which is why I see the "2 alert" link which is correct. But the link from html/includes/status-summary.inc.php line 79 says: (Short version) generate_url(array('page' => 'health', 'metric' => 'status', 'event' => 'alert,')) I thought the extra comma after alert was odd but I added down and now the health page shows the two down power supplies. Collectd graph tuning

Not sure if other have the same issue, but my Collectd graphs show up occupying just half of the size compared to normal Observium graphs, plus the font size is so tiny that you can't really read it. I found in /opt/observium/html/includes/collectd/config.php that the following control the size of the graphs, and if I multiply the variable with 2 like in the example below, I get pretty close to the right size : // Array of paths when collectd's rrdtool plugin writes RRDs $config['datadirs'] = array($config['collectd_dir']); // Width of graph to be generated by rrdgraph if(isset($_GET['width'])) { $config['rrd_width'] = $_GET['width'] ** 2*; } else { $config['rrd_width'] = 270; } // Height of graph to be generated by rrdgraph if(isset($_GET['height'])) { $config['rrd_height'] = $_GET['height'] ** 2*; } else { $config['rrd_height'] = 120; } Clearly there should be a more precise way than just multiply with 2....I guess someone this list may know the proper way to solve this ? Device polling issue

Hi, I have been using Observium for a long time and I use it in my home. I have a pretty big lab network in my house. I get a lot of equipment for testing from my employer, NETGEAR. My discovery is every 5 minutes and my poller is every 2 or 3 minutes. Anyway, during discovery, the Processors on one of my products, WC9500, is constantly updating the event log, updating all processors to descr Processor vs descr Intel Xeon @ 2.00 GHz. Before I chose to inquire with Observium mailing list, I've been e-mailing back and forth with the wireless controller developers asking them to address the fact that out of all of my devices, the WC9500 is the only device that can't seem to keep the processor right, and keeps spamming my event logs. They immediately want to point blame at Observium, but I won't let them. Anyway, I just thought I'd check to see if anyone has also experienced any similar output during Discovery, and if you can give me any better clues to provide to my developers to show them it is an issue with the device and not Observium. In my testing to see how I could reproduce it, I spammed the device with snmpwalk requests to pull out the processor and it never faulted from "Intel Xeon @ 2.00 GHz", so I wasn't finding "Processor" there. WMI service query

Hello, I had a question concerning the WMI implementation in Observium. I’d like to be able to create an alert to track the state of a service. Using the following WMIC command I’m able to view the state of a particular service wmic -U DOMAINNAME/Username%Password //HOSTNAME.DOMAIN.COM "SELECT Name,State FROM Win32_Service where Name='vmicvss'" CLASS: Win32_Service Name|State vmicvss|Stopped Is it possible to turn this command into an alert somehow? I already set an email alert and it successfully send an email but it will keep send all UP and DOWN in split of a second. Different polling frequency for certain graphs

We are using the standard polling frequency of 5min, which is fine for normal (customer) interfaces. But regarding core interface (in our MPLS network) 5 min polling type does not show short outages etc. Is there any way to poll certain graphs (e.g. limited number with a certain tag) with another frequency (e.g. 1 min), Or do I have to have a another observium instance for that? All Ports Removed

Hello Everyone, I am having an issue with an Extreme Network switch. I add the switch and everything looks fine, the issue occurs after the first poll and all the ports get removed. All other graphs are working fine (power, fans, etc) when I got to ports page there is nothing. I have several other Extreme Network switches that all the ports show up just fine. Fortigate multiple CPU's not showing

Hi We have lots of fortigates monitored in observium (running rolling version 17.3.8418) and most of them have multiple CPU's (depends which model depends on what CPUs it has). Observium only shows 1 CPU but when looking at the fortigate we can see there are numerous CPU's. (eg. the one ive shown below is a Fortigate 1000D which has 8 CPU's but observium only shows 1). Alerting and device adding broken after update

Adam, We have the Subscription edition of Observium and yesterday I upgraded to the latest build. After the build update was completed, I also updated my php version from 5.4.16 to 5.6.30 . After doing this, I am no longer getting email alerts and cannot add new devices. Any idea to what has went wrong here? What next step should I take? I have a Raspberry PI3 device that I am testing Observium CE on before buying the subscription version. However, I added a cisco device that supports VRFs and the page shows 5 but it is blank. I have an Observium CE 0.16.10.8128 running on a turnkey appliance and that is running fine....though the OS is Debian 8.4. The BGP page loads fine. Haven't seen any other issues as of yet. It doesnt matter the vendor brand, it happens with Cisco and Force10 Exascale E1200i. Vrf polling question

Good morning guys during implementation observium I experienced issue with vrf polling I can't solve and also didn't find respective answer in forums. Let me introduce problem itself. We have Cisco based network with big number of vrfs. Every single vrf doesn't have only one RD, but unique RD per device. Even this last octet on all distinguishers is same so for example Vrf 1 on R1 is rd 1.1.1.1 Vrf 1 on R2 is rd 1.1.1.2 Is it possible somehow edit web interface to show all vrfs grouped by name or last rd octet as primary key, because right now I see in observium big bunch duplicated vrfs. Hope my trouble is understandable and some solution exists. Thanks Jan

First time I've run into this issue... I added a device. It shows up fine in the device hitlist. But when I click on the device name for details I get: "No valid device specified A valid device was not specified in the URL. Please retype and try again." Any idea why this would be occurring? No way to delete/readd the device too because of this. Observium LDAP with TLS

Hello, We are trying to enable TLS on top of ldap connections. Once, i change startls to FALSE or required $config['auth_ldap_starttls'] = TRUE; $config['auth_ldap_starttls'] = 'required'; I get the following message: [image: Inline image 1] What does it mean exactly ? Version mismatch ? Cert error ? When I check packet capture, i see the following: [image: Inline image 2] And inside the client response ( packet # 9 ), there is this: [image: Inline image 3] Does it mean that observium can't find a certificate ? If so, which directory should i place certs ? I have another app on the same box that is using ldap with tls and it is working just fine. Also, what TLS versions are supported by observium ? I switch to the latest php version and suddenly all graphs stopped working. Xinetd for UNIX Agent

Having an issue getting the agent to behave itself on a server. Getting this error when looking at xinetd status: Must specify a server in observium_agent I double checked all of the file locations and they are all correct. We have the unix agent running on other servers with an issue, this one is just being challenging. Has anyone else seen an error like that before? I am currently using the latest community edition and looking to go to the professional subscription. With a Cisco ASA 9.4(3)6 and graphing the Remote Access Sessions, I am seeing odd data and it looks like others have had the same issue for a couple years now. Minor graph problems

Ever since I moved our installation from CentOS6 with PHP 5.6 to CentOS7 (7.3) with PHP 7.0, I've noticed that the MRTG, "Graph Maximum" and "Graph Trend" menu items don't do anything. All of them used to work great. Is this enough information to signal to anyone what particular PHP package or PHP configuration entry might have been missed? I'm hoping the combination of these three is a smoking gun that signals "X is missing". Thanks.

Simple service checks?

Hi All Very new to observium, so please forgive me if this is a silly question :-) In order to migrate away from nagios we also want to be able to track non-snmp values. For example; - Response time of web sites (is response correct, if so report response time) - SSL Certificate (is cert ok, if so report number of days left) … and similar Very easily scriptable checks, I just can’t work out what to do with them. Ideally I’d like to create a device that doesn’t respond to SNMP checks but gets data from a local script. Is this achievable or am I completely misusing Observium? Simply trying to get everything monitoring from one place :-) Mark

SVN Update doesn't seem to update observium

Hello All, I submitted a patch and it was commited in r8368, but when I run svn update to r8428 I dont get any of the changes. Anyone know whats wrong? We are running the subscription edition, if that matters. Hi, I have been using observium for a while and I am pleased with it. Now when I try to integrate LDAP, I can't find the logs to troubleshoot. I activated LDAP and it connect correctly, the query looks good but no go. Log from my LDAP server [06/Mar/2017:16:41:55.102124385 -0500] conn=255138 op=1 SRCH base="cn=users,cn=accounts,dc=domain,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(&(objectClass=posixaccount)(uid=dave))" attrs=ALL Does anyone have suggestion how to activate the loggin for ldap on the PHP / NGINX / Observium side? I got observium working almost exactly how I want it, but I have an issue with Windows cpu numbers. The graph looks fine (I think), but the numbers are weird. The max numbers look like a percentage, but the now and Avg show odd things like 640.5m I have no idea what that means. Also, the processor is never identified properly. I would happily change to wmi for Windows devices, but I'm not sure how that is done, or if it is stable. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences with wmi and observium? Thanks!

Discovery creating & deleting inventory entries

Hi All, When I run discovery.php on our Nokia 7210 Service Access Switch (Alcatel-Lucent TiMOS) it creates and deletes inventory entries and the valid entries are found at the bottom of the page. See screenshot below. Are these deleted automatically after some time? I found that there is an inventory.inc.php file for the housekeeping script, but it is not included in the options when running housekeeping.php. Does this mean that inventory.inc.php is deprecated? To delete them, I just edited the script myself and ran it. artificially high (100%) CPU usage reported from routing engine on Juniper MX-104 w/ 550 interfaces & solution

Observium has been recording artificially high CPU for RE0 on my MX-104, and I finally spent the time to understand what was going on and look for a solution. Here’s what I found in case it helps someone else. I say artificially because monitoring the system from the CLI reported 30-40% CPU usage with significant spikes during SNMP polling, but Observium constantly recorded 100% CPU usage. First up, I got the juniper to stop reporting on it’s internal interfaces and a bunch of others that show up by default. This removed a bunch of interfaces that existed but never had data and observing was polling. This cut the poll time down a fair bit, so I mention it if you haven’t used it on a juniper before. If you want this, it’s: snmp { filter-interfaces { all-internal-interfaces; interfaces { <other interface you don’t want stats for here>; } } } I also went through and turned off all the modules it wasn’t using or weren’t producing any data in polling or discovery. Helped a little more, but exposed something odd. When I would run polling on just the processors module, it would report CPU usage that matched what I saw in the CLI. When it ran as part of the whole host polling, it reported 100%. Figured out it was polling the processors after it had polled sensors and the 550 interfaces on this router, and that has run up the CPU utilization while it was polling, so the RE was reporting that instant CPU usage while it was still high. Not sure it was the best way, but moved the processor module to the head of the polling queue, and now I’m getting a CPU status that is more representative of the general load on the RE, and not the 100% usage the SNMP polling was causing. This router has always had this many interfaces, so as far as I can tell, a change in polling order caused this behavior and not a growth in interfaces. Observium-OpsGenie integration

I'd like to know if there are any changes in the latest updates of Observium that could affect Observium - OpsGenie integration. Today, one of our customers came up with a problem. He says Observium alerts aren't being forwarded to OpsGenie. He also says that he didn't change any configuration in Observium and in OpsGenie. We've confirmed that he didn't change any configuration in our side. We also asked him to check his Observium configuration and compare it with our docs. He's checked and nothing is wrong. So, we wonder if there are any changes that affect OpsGenie integration in Observium in the latest updates, maybe some changes in the backend. Could you please check and return to us? Configured those email Ids in .php file as well as in GUI. Due to some reason I have removed those email Ids to stop sending alerts. Now Observium starts collecting email ids from ‘snmp contact’ configuration of device and sending alerts to this email id. Please let me know what to configure so that Observium would not be able to send emails to the email id which is configured in snmp contact of network device ? So, I installed the CE edition on an Ubuntu vm (rather than use the Turnkey appliance), and I now see Cisco memory usage, but all of my graphs, for all devices, show no values. Every graph just shows -nan Not sure what is going on there. Thanks

Unable to parse header `DSName' rrdtool

I have a few different rrdtool graphs that are outputting "RRDTool Output: ERROR: rrdc_fetch: Unable to parse header `DSName'" So far I've only noticed it on specific Citrix Netscaler graphs, the Netscaler SSL ones nsSslHandshakes, nsSslSessions, etc and TCP Connections and TCP Packets for the netscalers are all in the same state with Unable to parse header `DSName'. Migration CentOS 6 to 7 - Graphs Failing

Our Observium professional server file system was recently damaged beyond recovery. Fortunately the database and the Observium directory had been backed up the night before. The older server OS was CentOS 6 and the new OS is CentOS 7 (both 64 bit). The Observium directory was restored and the database imported; now the Observium web page is working well, with visibility of all devices, historic stats/states/graphs etc. The cron jobs are running and polling etc. - the state of devices updates dynamically via the map too. However, there are no updates to the any of the graphs. I'm not sure if there is a database problem, RRD problem or file permissions problem. Placing /debug after various pages does not reveal any problems. Can anyone recommend other places to look for debug/logging information? Thanks in advance Darren

Sorry, but I don't see any attached graphs. I do believe that Cisco memory graphs are working for other people, just not for me. When I go to graphs, system, all I see is processors and device uptime. Not sure where to start troubleshooting and/or correcting this. I should also note that I am using the Turnkey Linux appliance. Should I be seeing memory usage graphs on Cisco devices?

I have various Cisco devices ( catalyst switches, ios routers, ios-xe, etc), but none of them are showing any memory usage details in observium. I was surprised by this as observium did a remarkable job of recognizing and displaying information for things that most snmp tools do not, Qnap for example. It does recognize my Cisco devices and reports back on just about everything, but memory. Other tools I tried, such as Manageengine, PRTG, etc reported the memory with no issue. So, I'm skeptical that there is anything wrong with my snmp setup. I would really love to get memory usage for my Cisco devices. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks

Hi list, Sorry if this had been asked before, but I'm unable to browse the mailing list archives. I have set up syslog parsing with Rsyslogd, like documented [1]. The syslog.php script does receive the logs and saves them in the database. Parsing logs from both Cisco Catalyst (IOS) and Cisco Nexus switches, I discovered that the NXOS logs are parsed incorrectly (see screenshot [2]). Hi All, I think weathermap is not part of Observium, but if anyone has the same issue with me please share Since I tried to created a few maps via web using weathermap editor like example1.conf, example2.conf, example3.conf and point it to like /maps/example1.html, /maps/example2.html, /maps/example3.html Then I tried to open each map, but all maps will link to the same content instead (like in the same example3). Hello, sorry for a maybe stupid question but I searched the Observium docs and FAQs and tried to search the mailing lists archive but latest was not available because the link to 'observium Archivs' on mailman's web interface leads to a 404. Is there an API to Observium and if is there a doc anywhere? Maybe I'm blind but I cannot find any related information if I inserted 'API' in the search field of the Obeservium docs. Google finds some pages that talk of " $config['api']['enabled'] = 1;" and/or query strings for an api.php - I do not even have an api.php in my observium installation. Some Observium values should be made available through a CRM and an API might be a smooth solution. Any tipps appreciated! Thanks, Uwe

Hi All, I have one question related to aggregate maximum of graph I have sum up two ports together but it is actually not accurate Eg: one port: 10.54 Gb and another port: 10.95 Gb So total of max should be 10.54+10.95 = 21.49 but the real on graph is showing 21.34 instead Can anyone help to explain me about this? Graph direct link changes when group membership changes

Hi! I'm using the direct link to graphs for a dashboard. Not sure this was the intended usage, but I found an issue that I think could be avoided related to this. It looks like graphs in this view are getting encoded IDs that somehow relate to the devices in the group, so the URL looks like this below. The issue is that when having lots of devices in a view, the id field gets really long and eventually will cause the graph creation to fail....however another and bigger issue is that it seems the id actually change when new devices are added (which happens during auto-discovery). Is there any way to fix the id to a numeric number like used with other graphs ? http://observium/graph.php?to=1487801959&id=WyIzMjE5MSIsIjMyNTE1IiwiMzMxNjM… /Jesper

Can't write new info to Observium

Hello all, never happened to me before, but Obsevium acts strangely lately for me. When trying to add a new device via web, it sucessfully adds it, but it's page appears to be missing. It says something like 'You entered a device which does not exist' or something similar. What is more, when I want to manually change device's description on the web, it says 'Device record updated'. But the info that I've written has not appeared. What could have caused this? I don't remember doing any changes to my Observium server, except doing an update. Version 17.2.8364 (stable) Everything else works as it should. Thank you

ASR9k RAM Changes

Hi, Have there just been some changes to the ASR9k RAM detection? Suddenly after the overnight svn up we are seeing this for all 9k chassis: [cid:image001.png@01D28C23.56E5F220] These 3 new items are in alarm. The “reserved” and “image” are filtered from all other devices by existing config.php – but obviously no brackets on these ones. $config['ignore_mempool_string'][] = '(reserved)'; $config['ignore_mempool_string'][] = '(image)'; However, the ‘processor’ one is actually wrong as it seems to be using the CPU0 usage but a strange maximum of 3.81GB instead of 7.81GB. I can’t filter this out because it will drop all ‘processor’ types. I remember something historic relating to this where the maximums were showing as around 4GB even though there is 8GB installed and someone (Adam?) found and sorted it. Alert regeneration via cli?

Is there a way to regenerate the alerts from the cli? We have some checks that alert based on port state, dependent on conditions within a port description. But that matching is only performed during the alert regeneration, not during polling. So if the port description gets updated, the alert still triggers based on the old condition match... I'm thinking of running a regen via cron on a regular basis to try and minimise the false positives. Unless somebody has a better way to achieve a similar outcome? Thanks, Michael

Poller wrapper history graphs not updating

Hi! I have moved an instance from a physical server to a VM by moving over the database & RRD files + Observium $HOME. All works except one minor thing : The poller wrapper history (/pollerlog/ page) graphs do not update anymore. Also the RRD files do not update their timestamp since I moved the files to the new VM. The poller discovery/timing part of the same page does work properly, so it's only the top two graphs missing (or rather the graphs are there, but no new data is being added). Any idea why ? /Jesper

Hi All, I’ve got up this morning to find our nightly SVN UP has messed up the memory graphs for all our switches/servers/etc…? What appears to be be happening is its looking for the file 'mempool-HOST-RESOURCES-MIB-65536.rrd' which doesn’t exist BUT 'mempool-host-resources-mib-65536.rrd’ does exist Case-senstive I believe Anybody else had this issue? using hardware sensors

Dear Observium community, is there any description of using hardware sensors? I've following issue. I'm operating a HP server with an Ilom under Ubuntu Linux. I configured in the device properties for ipmi: IPMI Hostname (IP address of the Ilom), IPMI Username (as configured at Ilom) IPMI Password, IPMI Userlevel (User) IPMI Interface (IPMI v2.0 RMCP+LAN Interface). Observium rekognized the sensors for temperature und fan speed. I did the same at an other HP server (same type) which is running ESXi 6.5 (HP customized Image). The Sensors are shown in the vSphre-Client and ESXi empeded host client UI. But for this host, Observium does not rekognize the sensors. How can this be explained ? Thanks. Lg. TF

Group with 500+ devices

Hi, I have a problem with device classification to specific groups. We currently have 750 devices added in our network. Some users can only have access to specific devices, which led us to creating a group associated with them. The problem is, that more than 500 devices belong to the group, and when we attach this group to a user, it lags like hell. The main window of Observium loads slowly, and the search works very slow. I dont think that the server is incapable of proccesing this quickly It's a server with 80gb of ram, 24core cpu. By the way, admin accounts work perfectly . Is this a bug? Or something needs to be done in order? Let me know, thank you.

Ruckus Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) controller

It seems that either the Ruckus MIB changed, or my expectation of function is different than reality. We run the Ruckus Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) to control our AP's. At the moment, Observium provides just the local attributes (CPU, NIC, RAM, Disk) of the virtual machine, but it was my impression that I was supposed to get a much larger subset of data regarding AP's, configured WLANS, clients and traffic, etc. It appears in the MIB properties that the data should be available, but perhaps there's been a change of MIB from the Ruckus side (in which case I would also like to pay for getting that updated). Attached is a screenshot of the Device MIBs and SNMP errors as reported by Observium. If you require something else, please let me know. I am using the most recent software version for both vSZ and the APs (R600). Observium is updated from SVN daily(ish). Hello, We would like create alert on BGP sessions only on private peering. The only clue for detected these BGP sessions is the description on interface. But Observium seems don't can link session<->network ports. I don't find easy solution to match these sessions. Anybody have an idea? Observium seems to be able link one IP to network port. Is it possible for you add functionality to link BGP sessions (with their IP) to network port too? We could do a really great monitoring and see BGP sessions linked to the network port (on new tab?) :-) Johann

Alert cache bug maybe

Hi All, Im not sure if other people are having this issue or not, but since the caching has gone into Observium my alerts tab hasnt been working correctly? I’ve been getting the alerts perfectly fine! But the tabs are wrong? Attached shows the home page which shows I have an alerts FAIL, however when i go into the alerts page I have none? Hi there Just installed the Observium 17.2.8353 to monitor our network Great job! I need to handle a couple of issues: 1. Once I did Custom OID to monitor, How Can I set threshold or alarm limit to get an alert? For example, graphing fuel level, raise an alert on low value. 2. Some devices are recognized by the system-i.e. EATON SC Controller-, but sensors -voltage, current, power, etc.- are not. I can write a sensor.inc.php -same way as others into includes/discovery/sensors dir- but even with the debug option in command line, cant´t get it working. Any clue? Couldnt find the list archive ( mybe solved there, but....) link is broken Regards Andres.-

Map marker icon size

We are adding quite a few locations to our install and after adding the first batch our front page map ends up with quite a bit of overlap while we have many more to add. It got me thinking if we could just make the individual markers smaller it would work better for us. Looking into the settings it seems there was an option for: $config['frontpage']['map']['dotsize'] = 10; Changing this seems to have no effect and a quick glance it does not seem to be used anymore Doing a little more digging in the code it looks like the html/includes/map/leaflet.inc.php has options defined to add the svg icons with static sizes with the following: var icons = { ok: L.icon({ iconUrl: 'images/svg/ok.svg', popupAnchor: [0, 16], iconSize: [24, 24] // size of the icon }), alert: L.icon({ iconUrl: 'images/svg/high_priority.svg', popupAnchor: [0, 12], iconSize: [32, 32] // size of the icon }), }; It seems just changing the values in iconSize: [X,Y] accomplishes what we would like to do to make the marker size a bit smaller and the maps to be more clear with many more sites added. Does anyone else have issues with random logouts on 17.1.8318? I will be working on or looking at something, clicking menu's, and then all of the sudden i'm at the login screen. LDAP Debug Support

Can anyone point me in the right direction for debugging LDAP authentication? Running the most current stable release of the Professional edition currently on CentOS 7 (in our test environment). Upgraded PHP to 7.1, as the older PHP we had installed was not working, now I cannot log in. It just loops me back to the main page. I was also getting TLS negotiation errors (with a blank error message) though I seem to have solved that particular issue for now. I can't seem to figure out how to enable debug logging though so that I can find out what's going on...

Not sure if this is the best place to ask these questions, but I haven't had any success with direct emails to keep this off the list. Might have sent them to the wrong address. I'm interested in getting the subscription, or Pro, edition of Observium. I've been asked to see if we can get an eval so we can determine if the enhancements either improve compatibility with Brocade VDXes, and/or if the additional features we would gain are of value to us. We are also a registered nonprofit in the US if that qualifies us for free access to the subscription edition. Thanks for any help!

Selectively enable polling fdb-table

Hi, We have globally disabled polling fdb-table, i.e in in config.php we have $config['poller_modules']['fdb-table'] = 0; Now we'd like to selectively ENABLE polling of the fdb-table, but only on a subset of devices. Is there a way to do this? From what I can figure out it's only possible to do it the other way around, that is enable fdb-table polling GLOBALLY and then device by device DISBALE polling. But we'd like to have polling OFF by default and then selectively enable it on a few devices. Any ideas? On network devices if you hover over the cog on the right hand side you get a bunch of connect via.. SSH, HTTPS, HTTP etc.. is there a way for those items to also appear on firewalls? as that would be really nice to have.. Im having trouble making it work. I followed the steps to a T but... no luck. I even made a network map with 2 devices but I'm not sure that's even correct because the weather maps never load. Setting default sensor limits

Just wondering what the best way is to set the default sensor limits? For example, I would like to set the battery temperature sensor max to 50C for all of our UPS units instead of the current default of 91.36C which would basically mean that the ups has melted into the floor.

Hi All, Is there an additional plugin for managing user and group for Observium? Or anywhere we can modify for user customer's portal purpose? Eg: For customer web accessing, we only provide normal user permission applied with limitted device or port access for that customer only and it should not display Overview, Grouping, Weathermap, Routing module.... anywhere we can disable that kind of module to accomplish? We just want a normal user see only device and port are allowed only. Please check as bellow picture Can we just disable these red box for normal user accessing? AD Ldap Authentication Debug

Hello, I'm trying to setup AD Ldap authentication and getting nowhere. I'm running observium version 17.1.8318 and PHP 7.0.15. I have ldap enabled and I have verified that with phpinfo. When I try to login with these settings in my config.php it just goes back to the login page with no failed login message or any other notice. Syslog alerting OSPF state change

I set up syslogging then creating the alert check looking for /FULL\ to\ DOWN/ for cisco i manually triggered the events in my network on a unused path and the syslog messages came in but i didn't get any triggers on the alert checkers. Is there something wrong with my setup or alert checks? Where would I start looking?

Observium wrong graph traffic statistic

Dear Team, I just install Observium and as I observed the graph traffic statistic seem not accurate compared to my Cacti graph monitoring system then I ask my Network Engineer to check which one is accurate traffic between Observium and Cacti, as the result after checking real traffic on my router device, Observium seems not accurate. Note: Graph statistic value is different is around 1GB, this is a huge number. Can anyone explain why or anyone experiences like me? Traffic graph don't work over 100G?
