Context switches since upgrade

I upgraded our community edition on Monday from the previous release dated 5/4/2016 to the latest release. I'm using observium to monitor the VM on which it is running, which is CentOS 6. The context switches graph has gone from hovering around 3500 to about 4200 immediately after the upgrade. System interrupts have increased by about the same percentage, and System I/O and Load Average have bumped up slightly. Are all of these typical of this upgrade? Nothing else was done to the system or to the devices being monitored. The increase in all these graphs (and a corresponding significant decrease in Observium performance) all correspond exactly in time to the upgrade. I've been wondering why it's performing worse, and then I noticed these items. Just looking for ideas or any helpful suggestions, and if this is to be expected. Thanks. Bill

Carel / pCo Discovery

Hi all, I see that there has just been an update to the detection of the Carel pCo controllers, which has added a lot of new sensor definitions for many people I expect (a good thing would have been an awful lot of work for someone which is appreciated of course!). Unfortunately, as the pCo is a programmable unit (and we are an OEM/unit programmer for Carel) we use the units for a large number of custom applications across a number of our facilities and customers. Previously we weren't getting any sensor-specific information via Observium for these units (just network, CPU, ram etc.) which is OK as we use other BMS systems to get the environmental data. Since the last update, we are getting a load of sensors but unfortunately (since our units are programmed by us) they are now showing alarms across most of the output, for example: The values being polled are also non-sensical because whatever the OIDs which are being used are either not aligned to anything we use or just totally irrelevant values. Humidity example below (obviously it's not 3,4 and 16 %): Interestingly, we do also have some 'official' Carel chiller controllers (running genuine Airedale control pCO units, not our own) - and these are also showing crazy values as chillers (no matter where you get them from) do not have 'Delivery Air Temperature' or 'Humidification Proportional Bands' as they don't' deal with air directly - for example: So it appears the detection logic is not just limited to incorrectly identifying our own custom controllers but also those of other manufacturers like Airedale, who also use Carel OEM pCO hardware like us. With all this in mind, can I ask what is the best way to prevent these devices from being detected as " Carel pCOWeb (Chiller Unit) ". So that they go back to being simple pCOWeb units with basic stats like Ethernet and CPU? Example device data is: So like I said at the start, I fully appreciate there was a lot of effort by someone to get all these sensors setup and that's great for people using the software they were configured to detect. Hi, I'm trying to build out an BGP peer alert for a specific vrf/mpls customer. RRD Graphs Not Generated.

Hi, I upgraded this morning to the latest version and for some reason the graphs are now not being generated (rrd). I do see the files being updated (date and time looks as of now). You can see here for example the CPUs are 100% (should be) however the graph shows nothing. [image: Inline image 1] Any ideas? Thanks Laurence

problem with snmp and brocade icx 6450

Hello, we have a brocade icx 6450 we enable snmp v2c on it and all of our other network monitoring can connect it (solarwinds and manageengine) but in observium can not connect, we check it with snmpwalk it seems snmpwalk can not connect to it , also we verify all things from our siwtch and it is ok, any idea how can we solve it? thanks

scaling graphs through variable

Hi, in our WAN we have multiple 100's ALIX boards connected through VPN. On eth1 we can scan all the info on the sublocations. On eth0 & eth2 we have various internet (local breakouts) connections with sometimes async ADSL modems. Is it somehow possible to retrieve a variable (that i have to insert manually / firewall) like ifAlias? It would be ideal to have up & download links per eth0 / eth2 parsed into scaling graphs on the ports tab. This way i can make alerts as we have no bandwidth throttling Regards, Martijn

Hello list I'm wondering if some of you are using observium as an alert system in a 24/7 NOC? I would like to have one window with open alerts, both from the alert checks and syslog alerts. Hello list I'm having some problems with syslog alerts. RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Oct 17 11:44:17.872 : isis[1010]: %ROUTING-ISIS-5-ADJCHANGE : Adjacency to ****** (Bundle-Ether1.7) (L2) Down, Holdtime expired RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Oct 17 11:46:05.893 : isis[1010]: %ROUTING-ISIS-5-ADJCHANGE : Adjacency to ******* (Bundle-Ether1.7) (L2) Up, New adjacency I'm using the regex "/Adjacency.*Up/" and "/Adjacency.*Down/" The "/Adjacency.*Up/" alert is working fine, but the combo Adjacency and Down doesn't alert. If I match only on Adjacency or only on Down I do get an alert, both these two together don't work as expected. Any workarounds or a different regex I should use? Regards MKS

Looks like it's now defaulting to OpenStreetMap. I think it looks better, but it looks like none of my map config settings are working now. Are there new settings to use? syslog integration issue

Morning, I try to implement the syslog.php features inside our Observium instance. on debug mode, we got syslog info inside the logs/debug.log file. But on the web side, impossible to get any message from the syslog. I'm not sure which area i need to investigate to get it done. Some help will be appreciate. Maintenance and down devices

I've made a small change to change how down devices are displayed when in maintenance mode that seems generally useful enough to include in the distro. It scratches my itch of being able to quickly see what downed devices have scheduled maintenace. It would probably be useful to extend to more areas like the color of device links and other entities. Unable to add Host

I noticed the Wowza MIB was in a recent update from SVN so I tried adding one of my hosts to our Observium server and it states: No reply on community t-public-ss using v2c. Could not reach 'HOSTNAME' with given SNMP parameters using v2c. I have done an snmpwalk from the Observium server to the host in question and it works properly.
