Adding an OS

Dear Observium, My apologies if this is not posted to the right place— this question must have been covered many times but the archives of this list don’t seem to be accessible. I am looking for how to add an OS for our devices ( https://www.metamako.com ). I found this documentation ( http://www.observium.org/docs/developing/add_os/ <http://www.observium.org/docs/developing/add_os/> ) but it seems to be out of date, since there doesn’t appear to be an includes/definitions/os.inc.php file. There’s a definitions.dat file, but this is a binary. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Do I need to be paid up for the subscription edition to make contributions? More sensor issues with Dell equipment: (S4810) SFP receive power reading returns only 0's (In cli reasonable values are shown), but I guess I have to yell at Dell for this one... Issue wih temperature reporting from Dell 7000 series switch

Hi All There's a small problem with temperature reporting from the Dell 7000 (specifically 7048 in this case) switch. The device page reports the stack unit internal temperature multiple times (I'd estimate >100), none of which look correct: I've copied and pasted the top and bottom of the reports, to show the way three of them read 0. The current firmware version is 5.1.8.2 - It was also present on the previous version of switch firmware we were running (from memory something like 5.1.0.1). I'd presume this is the result of the Dell SNMP response, but is there any kind of a workaround available? The devices web interface does report at least plausible temperature values, so it's unlikely to be a failing sensor. This is on the current CE, but was also present on the previous CE. Run Alerts Checks

APC PDU alert question

Hello I have some APC PDU with two lines of plugs. The name of the first row of plugs are: "Bank 1" and the second row's name is Bank 2. The two banks have a summarized current value, this is the "Bank Total". I would like to create an alert for the Bank 1 and Bank 2 (if the current ge 7 send an alert) but not for Bank Total. Issues getting the unix-agent to work

After setting up my target host per instructions, I get this error: [2016/04/10 04:26:47 +0000] poller.php(6436): UNIX-AGENT: Connection on tcp://gitserver:33602 failed. ERROR: 111 Connection refused Selinux is disabled, firewall is disabled. I tried searching the mailing list archives but all I get is a 'not found' error. My server is running on CentOs7. I also tried Ubuntu14. My clients vary from Fedora, Centos7, and Ubuntu. I appreciate any and all assistance offered. Lewis

Syslog timestamps

When I look at a device's page, the syslog entries shown below are odd... Things that just happened will say "5h 20s". Hovering the mouse pointer over them shows the correct time on the entry. The Observium server and client I'm on both have the correct time. Are those time marks done using GMT? (I'm on Central DST, so that would make sense.) Can that be changed?

Hi all, Due to a MIB move, if you svn up to the latest release, you might encounter silly output from the SNMP library in PHP. This is the case if you have the php5-snmp module installed, and have added our mib directory to /etc/snmp/snmp.conf. To fix this, replace: mibdirs /opt/observium/mibs by mibdirs /opt/observium/mibs:/opt/observium/mibs/net-snmp I've updated the install docs to reflect this. Tom

No Auth_Mechanisms defined to add user

All, So I followed the install process to a T, and it was going very well until I hit this: ./adduser.php <my username> <my Password> 10Observium CE 0.16.1.7533Add User ERROR: no valid auth_mechanism defined. I am running Debian 7 VM, and all dependencies are there. $config['auth_mechanism] = "mysql"; is in the config.php Anyone else run into this before?

Question Regarding CISCO and TX Discards

Hy Observium Community I have a router, which is only accessible via SNMP from my company, and it shows up some TX-Discards Just look on this picture: [cid:image001.png@01D1903E.84B547A0] Unfortunately the company who is administering the Router tells me that they do not see any error. I really do not have a clue which kind of Tx Discards these are and how they can be shown in CLI. Does anybody have a clue which “show” Command I have to tell the guy from the ISP that he is seeing these kinds of errors, also. It is a CISCO2911/K9 and it is a Gigabit Ethernet Interface. Monitoring job status

Hi, is there a way within Observium to monitor a file system to check that a new file appears at a given time, or alternatively to monitor a log for an entry to appear? The idea is, there are some scheduled tasks running on a Linux server. We can have each task do something on completion, like write a file somewhere, write to a log, post to a database, etc. We want to see if Observium can watch for something like that and alert if it doesn't occur. Method is completely undecided at this point so any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks, -- Mark

Hi All, not sure if this is an issue with our mailcleaners or observium emails ? but our mailcleaners are now picking up observium emails as spam ? Score Description 2.0 TO_NO_BRKTS_HTML_IMG 2.0 XPRIO 1.3 HTML: images with 2000-2400 bytes of words 0.0 HTML included in message 5.3 we have a score of 5 set, so sadly just passes it the emails where never being detected with these TO_NO_BRKTS_HTML_IMG ? or XPIRO ? in the past, only recently? has the been any changes in the email alerts code at all ? Alert Notifications when Alerting is Disabled

To start off, I have read the FAQ and tried the points described there to fix this exact problem but it didn't help. I have one Proxmox host running a fe w LXC c o ntainers, Observium is installed on one of them and successfully gathered data from all of them for a few days then stopped and shows all of them as down.
