Hello, I just purchased the subscription version and am looking into setting up Alert checkers. How do I get an alert checker to run? I was referring to documentation and looked the DEMO and it looks like the checker will determine a pass/fail. I have set one for storage [cid:image001.png@01D14DF5.9B1B9F20] Is there something else I need to put?

it’s not “broken” in the sense that CSCO officially considers multicontext snmp the “by-design” method (and I have the TAC cases to prove it). remember, snmp *works* which means it’s for grouchy old [grey|neck]beards. netconf & shiny-api-disaster-of-the-week are supposed to rule the new agile! world! of! devops! 95th percent billing

Hi, I just want to clarify the burstable rate calculation which should work as below according to wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burstable_billing#95th_percentile) : “ Bandwidth is measured (or sampled) from the switch or router and recorded in a log file. In most cases, this is done every 5 minutes. At the end of the month, the samples are sorted from highest to lowest, and the top 5% (which equal to approximately 36 hours of a 30-day billing cycle) of data is thrown away. The next highest measurement becomes the billable use for the entire month. “ Is observium applying the same calculation on BILLING feature ? Is it possible to download RAW file in which has sample of every 5 minutes ? Regards, chanty

ALert on Vlan change

Hello all. Is there a way, or can it be programmed, to get an alert when a port gets set on a particular Vlan or is moved out of it? Example: We have networks (vlans) where admins are put into. Not receiving email notifications. Has there been a change in Alert system I need to know about?

Hello, I recently updated my Observium installation; I'm now running 0.16.1.7473. I haven't changed any configurations. I followed procedure, as far as I know: polling was finished, I did the 'svn up' followed by './discovery.php -u' and everything looked fine. However, I should have just received an email both when a port I'm monitoring went down, and about half an hour later when it recovered. Looking through the alert log, I see the entries that say 'Alert notification sent' followed later by 'Recovery notification sent'. I didn't receive either notification, there's nothing in the mail queue, and maillog doesn't show any attempts. This was working perfectly before my update. I'm afraid I don't remember which version that was, but it was from about a week before I saw comments in the mailing list about the change in layout on the front page. Just wondering how hard it would be to implement the following features, please le tme know if these already exist and I've just missed them! 1) Close window button on the hover popups. I think the pop ups are great but I find sometimes they don't disappear, a small X button on the top RH corner would be fantastic! 2) Adding AND and NOT to the Device/Entity filters It would be fantastic to have a little more flexibility in the filters used for Alerts and Groups etc. Would it be easy enough to be able to use AND and NOT statements? Recent update beaks Rancid for Cisco ASAs

Hi, We have recently updated our version and the generate rancid script is now using the wrong type for the Cisco ASA devices. The type used for the Cisco ASA should be "cisco", it has recently changed so it sets the type to be "asa" This causes rancid to fail with an unknown type. Can this be corrected? I’m looking at updating to the latest stable release, my current version is 0.15.6406. I updated my staging instance to 0.16.1.7433. When looking at the documentation I didn’t see anything new, but in the change log it looks like some changes have made to alerts, do you have documentation on this? —Jeff

SFP sensor alerts

Hi All, What is the best way to suppress alerts for Transceiver TX Power generated when a port is admin-down? cisco-entity-sensor mib has a default minimum value of 1mA, which is a perfectly valid minimum value under normal "up/up" conditions, but if the port is admin-shut it will switch off tx power, which is ok for admin-shut. Same situation for RX-power. Is there a way to take the admin status of the port in account for this kind of sensor readings? (ASR9k, IOS-XR) Thanks, Martin

Port Errors Showing for Alert-Disabled ports

Hi, Not sure when it started, but we now seem to get “Port Error” alerts on the main page for ports which are set to have their Alerts disabled, for example: [cid:image001.jpg@01D1494E.A318C000] On the device in question, they are indeed ‘No’ under the Alerts toggle: [cid:image002.jpg@01D1494E.A318C000] There are a large number of ports like this on our network with IP PDUs and similar, all of which have 10M/Half links and exist in a state of near-constant input errors as a result. This is of no concern at all and should be ignored (hence the toggle). Any suggestions? Is the Alerts toggle broken (for this feature on the main page) or is there another way to shush these, it’s kind of making the main page list a bit defunct ☺ Cheers all! UNIX agent Postgres versions

Hi everyone! I was in the process of configuring the UNIX agent and I found (as written in the documentation too) that the script only supports Postgres version 9. But after experimenting a little bit I realized that the script works perfectly with the 8.4 version. I was able to test with an 8.3 which was working as well. So maybe the script should be changed to enable any 8.X version. Anyway I created a patch and attached it. If some of you find it helpful then maybe post the version which was working, so we can update the version string. Regards, Tylla

Problem adding devices after upgrading to 0.16.1.7393

Hi... Yesterday I upgraded my Observium to Version 0.16.1.7393 via svn. The "svn up" did follow an immediate "./discovery.php -u" and a flush of the browser cache. But when I try to add a device I get a somewhat incomplete screen. See attached screenshot. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong? Thanks for your help, Roland

Hi Adam... Thanks for your reply... I tried deleting the html folder plus svn up but it did not help... I am using FF43 and Chrome 47. I can reproduce it with both browsers... But I found a way now on getting the panel back! I reduced the browser window width to at least the half of my screen (I do have 1980x1200 resolution). Then bling it popus up. As soon as I make it wider than 50% it goes away. Reproduced it with FF and Chrome on windows. Looks indeed like a CSS issue.
