Hi, I'm a very happy Observium Community Edition user, keep up the good work! I have a Linux appliance that utilises Observium, Nagios, NagioSQL, Cacti, Splunk, etc. that runs as our Company NOC. I would like to simplify this and perhaps remove Nagios as I only use this for basic ICMP "Are you there" checks currently. I would very much like to test this functionality in the commercial edition of Observium before purchasing a subscription - is this possible please? EU Subscriptions and new subscription management system

Hi Guys, To get around the additional complexity complying with the EU regulations would require we've switched to a slightly more expensive, but more helpful payment provider which is now acting as a VAT agent on our behalf, usefully sidestepping all of the EU VAT issues. They also have a much friendlier and much easier to use API, so I finally got around to properly automating the subscription system. For the future to renew subscriptions, you'll need to create an account on the subscription management system and order via the button. At the moment it autogenerates usernames and passwords, but in future I'll make those customisable. You can find it at http://www.observium.org/subs/ Thanks, adam.

geolocation problems after update

hi all! after upgrading my svn version of observium noticed that the points are gone the map going to a strange location and coordinates "manual" in the geolocation option of configuration of devices. to not upgrade one by one and clear beyond coordinate option did a direct change in sql that functioned normally, it follows: UPDATE `observium`.`devices_locations` SET `location_lat` = NULL , `location_lon` = NULL , `location_geoapi` = 'google' , `location_manual` = '0'; after 5 minutes the points again appear on the map in the right way []s! -- Guilherme de Freitas Figueiredo

I have the same issue. We are running a bunch of DSLAM (Zhone and Keymile) and we want to monitor the numebr of calls, the temperature and so on (no more than 10 SNMP OID checks). How can I ask to add this kind of support? Can I write my own check files for this hardware and (if it's working fine) pull up on the main release? Where to start writing a custom check? Regards

Hi, I'm working towards building some additional OS and device definitions for Observium. At first, I would like to know if there is a way to add a specific OID to a device to be monitored. Other words, I have a device and the standard mibs are being monitored / graph'd. I'd like to add a specific OID to also be monitored / graphed. thanks

I'm following back up to the list, in hopes that others will find this and it will help them. Part of figuring this out was to track server (the host observium is running on) utilization in terms of Disk IO, CPU, Network IO, swaps, etc. In general we had to upgrade our server to handle a higher compute load / cpu load. We had been running Cacti on the same hardware platform with about 3x the devices, polling every 1 minute and no issues. When running Cacti we also used the C based poller environment (spine). Observium requires more CPU. We also increased our SNMP time out value in the config file. This helped mitigate the issue, but at the end of the day, more CPU fixed the issue. Now the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) has reduced and alerts / data from Observium is considered reflective of the devices status. Once we stabilize and goto production, I'll post our hardware / os configuration along with other relevant data for others to reference. cheers and thanks to those that provided on-list and off-list usable feedback. It's a little more complex if the OS is detected as Linux, since we don't have the ability to selectively add MIBs at the moment, we'd have to add that. The basic design ethos of Observium is that everything should be automatically discovered except where automation is realistically impossible. It's a long standing and quite strict policy which is responsible for basically every difference between Observium and Cacti. If someone can write a Cacti-esque template to graph something they want, why would that not just be added as a poller module? Because it's harder? But one means only 15 people use it, the other means all 10,000 observium users get it. I've long hated the cacti method of doing things, forcing the users to either write support for themselves or find some ancient badly written templates on a forum. This just means that half a dozen people write exactly the same support, and only half of the people who need it get access to it. It's way better to spend twice as much time writing some code which can be included in the release and automatically delivered to everyone. We've a few other internal design policies that people might not be aware of, but they're not so relevant here :) adam. Subscriptions in the EU

Hi Guys, If you're in the EU and you've had (or have in the future) your PayPal payment profile canceled, it's because of the EU VAT issues I posted about last week. After the 31st of December we will no longer be able to sell to customers in the EU (except the UK) and any payments from within the EU after that date will be refused. It's not clear when or if the EU will rectify these regulations, and the workarounds I've investigated so far won't work for us. If you're due for renewal in Jan/Feb/Mar or so and want to retain your sub, I recommend you do it before the 31st. Thanks, adam.

Alerts Not Sending or False Positives Received

Hello, I've configured config.php for device down alerts. However, they're not being sent when a devices is down or they're sent out when a device is not down. Observium - net-snmp process unresponsive

Hi gents, I have a CentOS 6.6 install with net-snmp running. I'm using SNMPv3 Auth and Encryption with Observium polling devices every five minutes. On one of my Centos server, the net-snmp process will die after 24-36 hours of running. It seems that CentOS is frozen to net-snmp 5.5 and I'm don't really want to use anything that I can't easily manage with "yum". The weird thing is that I have another server with the same config/CentOS version/Net-Snmp version and I have no issues with the snmp process on that server. Anything else I could try to troubleshoot the issue? Thanks!

Need to create sensors and better support for Ubiquiti radio devices

I'm looking for help to improve the support of Ubiquiti microwave radio support in Observium. Mainly focused on the AirFiber 24 and AirFiber 5 products, along with the Rocket series. Would need the ability to alarm on RF Signal level changes (out side of acceptable range, etc). Same with receive Ether CRC on the radio's ether interface. Anyone interested in helping. There would some $$ avail.
