How excatly does the alert and customer feature work in observium pro edition

Hi all, I tried asking this on the forum: http://observiumforum.com/forum/main-category/main-forum/78-thnking-of-buyi… but after 22 views no one hasn't answered.. I tried the IRC but it seemed to be closed? I was told by the bot that my chat messages wasn't sent to channel.. So now i try here.. I run a IT consultant company and we are maybe planing on using observium. For now we have a test installation of the free version running to much success! Besides the ease of use through SNMP we do look to the customer feature and alert feature you get with the pro edition. How much is built into the alert feature? is it only mail or does it also support text? What is ment by rule based grouping? And maybe the most important one of all. The customer feature? can i use it to separate my different clients so its easier to oversee what devices belong to what client? or is it more for the billing feature? This product looks vary promising!

I can see site2site tunnels as active and can see the traffic but can we also monitor its state and alert on this? Or get a site2site uptime number? High CPU SNMP ENGINE

I added Obersvium for one of our workstation cisco switch which has most ports filled up WS-C3560X-48 12.2(53)SE2 Now the switch gets huge CPU spikes at random times And it points to SNMP ENGINE PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process 263 959593774 37162365 25821 81.62% 19.01% 7.03% 0 SNMP ENGINE 263 960182122 37166258 25834 75.33% 12.91% 5.58% 0 SNMP ENGINE Is there a way to lower the cpu spikes? Polling script

Has anyone done a script where it can every 30 minutes or every hour read server names from a text file and add the device and discovery and poll it automatically ? I want to be able to add servers into the domain and have observium discovery them automatically via snmp. Sent from my iPhone

Integrated smokeping graph appearance

The integrated smokeping graphs don't have the same appearance as they do in smokeping itself. Is there a way to make the graphs have the same appearance? Also, the data represented in Observium doesn't appear to match smokeping when looking at the variance. I've attached examples. I realize that it's the same rrd being drawn but it's just the representation of the data that is different. Smokeping 2.6.8 and Observium 0.14.10.5883 Justin

Invalid device/port combination

After an upgrade a while back I began to receive a message "Invalid device/port combination" when selecting the hyperlink for a port on any device. I upgraded recently to 5770 and still experiencing this issue. The URL http://observium.domain.com/device/device=70/tab=port/port=10234/ gives the following message. High discovery time on Mikrotik ARP/NDP table

All, I'm seeing an issue where on some of my Mikrotiks, mostly the RB2011iUAS model, the arp-table discovery takes upwards of 200 seconds to complete. I was wondering if anyone else is seeing this, or runs these models and sees a high discovery time on them as well? Thank you, Nicholas Beacham

ActiveDirectory (LDAP) authentication very slow

Hi, I'm running observium from the latest TurnKeyLinux distribution and I'm having some trouble getting the AD to work correctly. I have copied the configuration from this page: http://www.observium.org/wiki/Authentication_modules#Active_Directory And made modifications to match our environment (Changing the DN's, suffix, prefix, groups and changed the STARTTLS to FALSE). Our AD is based on Windows 2008R2 To get it working I installed the php5-ldap on the TurnKey distribution using the apt-get install command (and did nothing else than reboot). The normal mysql will let me login as intended (speedy and no delay) - but when switching to LDAP I initially couldn't login "Authentication Failed" until I removed the following line from the configuration file: $config['auth_ldap_group'] = array("CN=Observium Users,OU=Groups,DC=ad,DC=example,DC=com"); (I had of course modified it to math our configuration) When removing the line I am able to login - but the login (and the following page loads) takes around 63 seconds. My questions is: * Why is the page load taking 60+ seconds when using LDAP OR how do I troubleshoot it (seems like a timeout situation) * Why do I need to remove the "auth_ldap_group" line to get it to work? Device Dependency

Is there any chance of getting some type of device dependency? I.E. We used to monitor with Cacti but now we are almost 100% with Observium. The IP SLA Jitter monitoring is great. (CISCO-RTTMON-MIB) Observium currently picks up and records this value. Interface descriptions are blank

Hello, We are using subscriber edition 0.14.9.5815, polling juniper QFX3500 switch (two switches - Virtual Chassis cluster). After adding the switch and running discovery.php, interface descriptions are recognized just fine, however when the device gets polled for the first time, all interface descriptions get removed.
