Hi all, my database is grow very fast. Is there a cyclic clean up which deletes unnessesary entries from the db to prevent garbage? How long are entries kept in the db? Can anybody tell me the syntax to reduce the rate-time for trap and log entrys in the database? many thanks Thomas

Hi Adam, mmh, thanks. -------------- snmpwalk -v 2c -c COMMUNITY HOST 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648 iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID -------------- where 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648 id is suppose to poll CISCO-VIRTUAL-INTERFACE-MIB, which is included in the Observium database and supposedly supported by the Nexus 6001. Prezados, boa noite! Gostaria de saber se ja é possível ativar o mapa do Google, igual ao da demostração, na página do observium, utilizando a versão comunitária. Gostaria também de deixar uma mensagem de protesto contra a política de versões comunitárias e pagas. Eu até entendo os motivos, mas não concordo de forma alguma. Issues with bind graphs - Where to start looking?

Hello everyone, I've identified an issue with storing of values that are grabbed by the unix-agent. Specifically, a problem with the bind sub-agent. Apparently, when req-in,QUERY exceeds a value of 2,147,483,648, the value that actually gets stored in the app-bind-122-req-in.rrd is: # rrdtool info app-bind-122-req-in.rrd | grep query ds[query].index = 0 ds[query].type = "DERIVE" ds[query].minimal_heartbeat = 600 ds[query].min = 0.0000000000e+00 ds[query].max = 7.5000000000e+06 >> ds[query].last_ds = "2147483647" << ds[query].value = 0.0000000000e+00 ds[query].unknown_sec = 0 This is despite the current value actually being: # ./bind | grep -i req-in,Q req-in,QUERY:2368417221 I initially thought there was an issue with a 32 bit vs 64 bit counter in the RRD itself, but it looks like ds[query].max is well above a 32bit variable's max value. I am at a loss as to where the problem may be and am hoping that someone on the mailing list can point me in the right direction. I can't believe I'm the first one to run into this issue actually... Here's what happens to my graph when this issue arises: This happens to other dns graphs as well, but it happens to this one the quickest, since it hits that 'limit' faster than the other counters do. Additionally, I'm running 0.14.3.5117 if that helps. If I restart named, the graph begins graphing properly again, but I don't want to consider that a 'fix', especially since I'd be resetting all of my bind servers every week. Doable, but not ideal. Monthly Thumbnails not Updating

It appears that my monthly graph thumbnails are not updating, but when I go into view the RRD from a monthly perspective the data is there. Check out the attached screen-shots to better explain the issue. CPU's on mikrotik

Servers appear quite nicely with a compound graph but my Mikrotik routers have one per CPU is this just something that could be done easily? delete ports?

I have looked and looked and can not find how to delete ports. There are many ports that are added when pointing to my windows machine for example, old interfaces, etc. tunnels that are not listed ipconfig /all, etc. How do you delete them? Do you have to edit the $config['bad_if'] to include the names of the interfaces you dont want? TIA

Rancid not working

Just to advice i am seeing a difference between "./discovery.php -h xxxx" and "./discovery.php -h xxxx -d". I had a PDU which was a bit broken. It's other three PDU mates were corrrectly discovered as apc. The broken one came back as "generic". after restarting the management interface (on PDU), i ran discovery manually (i didn't want to wait 5 hours for the next scheduled discovery). This didn't change the device. In looking to see if there was a "force" option, i found the debug option instead. Cisco ASA Reporting -nan on interface graphs.

Hi I have a Cisco 5525-X being polled from Observium, everything is fine except all the traffic graphs for the interfaces are reporting -nan as a value and showing no data. The environmental graphs such as temp, CPU etc are all OK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Wrong ports counter / reset counter

Hi, I've some weird behaviour with observium. Since some time the ports counter on the frontpage is displaying wrong values. Eg. It's showing that there are 264 ports down, but when I click the link, there are only 23 ports down. Also when I add up the up, down, ignored and disabled ports, the total number (13326) is less than the number observium shows under 'total' (14991) Does anyone have an idea where to look? Or is there a way to reset the counters? Thanks! Onno.

asynchronous interface alerting

Hi all, Is there any way of alerting on TX/RX load of an interface (ATM and other xDSL interfaces)? We use mostly Cisco and so we can configure bandwidth and bandwidth receive, so we could define the asynchronous bandwidths. Observium gets the ifSpeed from the bandwidth value, so if we define an alert for TX/RX load, it will almost always report on wrong loads. Interface bandwidth is adopted from the ATM sync speeds, but this is the TX load, the RX load isn't reported on the interface normally. We could define this manually or Observium could maybe get this from the DSL statistics. When I go to my settings: it tells me Device permission level no access! Best managed PDU for *NIX style systems for snmp support?

Hi, I've been using Observium for a few months now and really enjoy it! I currently have a fully managed/switched PDU which has been under RMA for what feels like forever and the best advice the manufacturer could give me was to return the unit back to my reseller?? I'm not quite sure what's going to happen with it yet so I just wanted to know what the best or most compatible PDU is for *NIX systems?? I'm running Observium on FreeBSD 10 64bit. Basically the current PDU I have keeps bombing out under SNMP queries as snmpwalking the device either comes up with "snmp timed out" or totally the wrong protocol?? It's supposed to support v1 and v3 but the MIB response I get is for v2c? I know that Observium supports APC and two others as per listed on the Support page on the site. Which one is the most NIX friendly? Having read the documentation for the APC models, they can be updated over FTP or SCP which is perfect unlike my current model which needs an M$ exe program and since my network is OpenSource only OS wise it's basically an issue..... It seems to be a bad SNMP stack in my opinion as I've never had any issues using SNMP previously with many different vendors for network and peripheral devices. Observium even goes as far as graphing my HP print servers Toner values which is soo cool :-) Can anyone give me any advice? -- I was actually looking at this model: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP… as a replacement. unix agent bind

i just added a bind machine successful to observium. Most of the stats and rrd's are working except for the resolving tab ( and cache content and outgoing queries). Is this because of the lack of stats from my bind? How to investigate this? the bind machine is just preforming recursion no authoritative zones. Thanks, Erik

"Overall Peering Traffic" graph broken

We are having an issue where the "Overall Peering Traffic Today" Graph on our front page is broken. When we try and use the option to "Disable broken graphs" it removes all the graphs from our front page. Is there any way to remove the "Overall Peering Traffic Today" graph without effecting the others? Thank you in advance for your assistance! -Shane
