poller-wrapper.py not working on FreeBSD?

I have the following line in my /etc/crontab on FreeBSD9.1: */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/poller-wrapper.py 1 >> /dev/null 2>&1 I can manually run the poller (as root) but all monitored interfaces go to '0'. I re-read the docs a zillion times but obviously I must overlook something truly basic. What bothers me is that poller-wrapper.py doesn't work from the command line either, which means I must have something wrong in my install somewhere… Anybody using Observium on FreeBSD willing to share their cron setup? Making use of hdarray

Hi all, I've been trying to make use of hdarray (added in http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-233) but it seems like there's a bit of an issue with the patch: it doesn't contain the actual observium-agent module. The patch seems to have been merged into SVN's devel branch (http://www.observium.org/svn/observer/branches/devel/includes/polling/unix-…, for example) but there's no hdarray module in SVN's devel branch either (see http://www.observium.org/svn/observer/branches/devel/scripts/agent-local/) which should rule out the possibility of it being added in right after. Am I looking in the wrong place or is the hdarray module simply missing? Cheers, Henri Watson

You added it to the wrong crontab file because you didn't follow the instructions, despite the giant red box I recently added to make it super clear which file to add it to. Adam. graphics problem

Hi, yesterday I installed paul software according to the official documentation. I have successfully added the first servers (. / hostname add_device community versionsnmp). I see the tables of graphics but these are not populated with the actual employment. only yesterday just added the apparatus has plotted a bit. this is a section on the memory (ram) but I have all the same (see attached link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xjbnjcp7rsdoat/snapshot3.png) I also, as indicated in the wiki, added the following strings in crontab 33 */6 * * * root /opt/observium/discovery.php -h all >> /dev/null 2>&1 */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/discovery.php -h new >> /dev/null 2>&1 */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/poller-wrapper.py 1 >> /dev/null 2>&1 I reloaded the crond service: /etc/init.d/crond reload what is the problem? how can I solve it? thanks in advance greetings

For some reason not all my switches seem to be getting logs even though the syslogs are getting sent to the observium server. why is the DNS query rate so high?

Thanks for clues in troubleshooting a problem with high DNS query rates from Observium. I've been looking at Observium for network monitoring, and really like it so far, except that makes repeated DNS queries at a very high rate. For example, an Observium box monitors an old Cisco 2651XM router in the same physical location. Running a capture on the DNS server, we see the Observium box made over 200 queries for the router's hostname in a 7-second interval. Also, the DNS server correctly responded to every one of these, usually within 20 ms. What would cause so many DNS queries (and apparent non-caching of the responses)? This behavior is thrashing the logs on the DNS servers. This is with Observium Community Edition 0.13.10.4586 running on Debian Wheezy. Thanks again dn

Latest subscription version and Map issues

Evening all :-) I have had a quick look at the google page listed in the the doc, and also had a good search of google in general. I have a smallish but problematic issue with the overview page. In the old version (before update) I did not have any issue with this, howver the page defaults to the USA, and well I am in the UK - I have tried playing around with the region setting in the Docs (not a lot is discussed about "what" it actually does, but i have had a good play) to no avail. Google api doc page mentioned setting the region to "England" so I set : [map] => Array ( [region] => England [resolution] => countries [dotsize] => 10 [realworld] => [api] => google-mc [zooms_per_click] => 1 But it still defaults to the USA (middle of) :/ Now the second issue is we have set the device properties > System Location to be "Greenwich View Place, London, UK" which initially showed the devices in the correct place, then after an hour or two, its now 3 miles off to the East :( (and there I was thinking - wow thats good) :) So any help - guidance would be much appreciated :) -- Kind regards, Chris

Junos health monitoring removed?

Hi, Just a quick question. For some reason my temperature sensors disappeared on Juniper / Junos gear. Observium log shows many of these: Sensor Deleted: temperature junos 9.1.0.0 Routing Engine 0 Running latest version from pro/svn, just updated to 4670 to be sure. Any clues? Regards, Rutger

Searching in the FDB-Tables

Hi all :-) When i search for a specific mac-address inside the FDB-Table i get no results with the default search options. Only if i deactivate the Options for Vlan and VLAN names. Did the config setting mibdir get removed?

CE: Broken detailed Collectd charts

Hi I installed the community edition at the time of the split and have come across an issue with the detailed charts. When I click on the Collectd tab I see the various charts as expected. See the attached screenshot. However, when I then click on one of the charts to see more detail, I get the broken image icon. poller performance

Hi, I'm having problems with the performance of the poller. We have 200 switches and almost 16000 ports included and the poller is having trouble getting them checked in 5 minutes. With 20 threads it's working with a load of 15. When I add more threads it takes longer to get the data from switches. With less threads it also doesn't check all switches in 5 minutes. I'm using new fast hardware. I've implemented all the performance tuning tips on the observium site. I also disabled the checking of fbd-table, arp-table and mac-accounting. When I debug the poller the ports check takes the longest. About 90 % of the total time. 1 switch takes about 8 to 10 seconds now. Is there a way to speed it up? Maybe I can extend the check cycle time to 10 minutes? Distributed poller instances? Hello guys, I'm testing Observium in the company that I work, it's working great, however we realize that Observium is not getting the processors and memory utilization from ours FastIron SX family, which includes SX 800 and SX 1600. The Brocade MLX family that we use are working fine and we are able to get proc and memory, I guess that it's a MIB problem but I couldn't find it on google. Does anyone has this switches been monitored by observium?
