Custom port service type?

My port naming convention for core ports doesn't follow the "Core:" spec required by Observium. Is it possible to specify a custom type, or perhaps change the default? I'd love to see my core ports with a click of the Ports drop-down hopefully by avoiding having to reconfigure over 400 port descriptions. I can't see anything in defaults.inc.php and I'm not well enough versed in php to really know how to go about looking through the php code to try and find the answer. My google-fu is failing me too, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Smokeping / Ping Tab - 3rd Graph?

Hi, Just setup Smokeping integration (and generated targets using Michiel’s groovy script – thanks!). Anyway, it’s all working fine for all the hosts but I’m not sure what the 3rd graph on the Ping tab is meant to show, called localhost. It appears on every single host’s “Ping” tab. Have I just failed to configured a hostname *somewhere* or is this graph meant to display something else? When you click on it you just get an “Insufficient Permissions” message, image attached for reference. Hi, Can any of the devs explain why Observium phones home (to update.observium.org) when it runs discover.php? What data is being sent and why isn't this behaviour explicitly mentioned anywhere in the docs or on observium.org? Thanks, Dermot

User editing was turned off a year or two ago because of spam. Running the script on every rrd is not advised. Only run it on things with spikes! I'll have a look at the page. Adam. From what version to what version? What event log entries don't work? What things that you expect to generate email alerts don't work? Eventlog stopped working after upgrade

Hi, after upgrading Observium via svn there are no event logs and we are not getting e-mail alerts. Where should I look for problems, can you point me to a direction, what to look at? Thanks, Hynek

Hello Devs, I have done some work on Asterisk monitoring for Observium. I had an off-list chat with Adam to help me complete the work and to get the patch applied to Observium. I think he got busy with other work (or just ignoring me :) - it's all good ) so I am looking for someone to help me get this into Observium. I have an almost working code base, I just need some help in getting the graphs to display and perhaps some other work. I can give you access to an Asterisk box via SNMP, a static IP will be required. I am also willing to do the coding, I just need some guidance :) Feel free to contact me off list. Thanks, Pieter

Its not obvious what the problem is. The spikes seem to be evenly spaced, which is odd. Its likely either a bug in the switch SNMP stack which is returning zero or referring to the 32bit counters, or a network congestion issue caused by a crown job. Do all of the devices have the same software versions? Adam. Checkpoint Firewall Support?

I'm just starting to look at observium for some monitoring. I see that it supports cisco based firewalls (ASA/PIX) but it does not currently support checkpoint. Checkpoint mainly runs on top of redhat linux. I'm able to get the general linux stats but not the firewall specific stats (connections/vpn/etc) similar to what's available with the cisco asa support. Basically, I'm asking if anyone has managed to get this to work. Or barring that, any information as to how to add support? Steve

debian7 interupts raised 10x times

Hey anyone upgraded to debian7 and noticed interrupts raised like 10x times? At first I though it server specific issue, but when I upgraded completely different hardware and noticed same thing even w/o booting into new kernel. So we had at one server about 160 and now 1700, and other server 280 now 1800. Also context switches increased 5-6 times from 500 to 3,5K now.

The existence or not of a hypervisor has little to no bearing on the graphing of the networking counters maintained by the OS. You give virtually zero information on exactly what you are trying to do. Adam. Getting wierd spike graph

Hello, Im having trouble graphing Avaya ERS5530 switches. Graphs generated have very wierd spikes of ~700 Gbps what is impossible. I have other switches drawing graphs just fine. And to get this even more wierder one of my eight Avaya ERS5530 is drawing graphs just fine. Adding MIBs

Hi Guys, I am new to Observium and so far have found it to be very interesting and would like to know if it is possible to extend the MIBs that are used to include Mitel equipment. I have the MIBs and have uploaded them to the MIB direectory but am not sure how/if I can include these in the discovery/polling so that I get all the info from our Mitel PBXes available via these MIBs.
