User Access Levels

Is this documented anywhere or did I not look hard enough? Just looking to add a user with the same viewing abilities as an admin, but unable to make any changes. A level of 1 doesn't allow them to view anything at all. 8 more options to try I guess ;)

Possible bug with whois?

Hello list, When Observium tries to do a whois of an RFC 1918 address, whois goes to 100% CPU and stays there... it doesn't seems to exit. I have to manually kill the whois process. smokeping integration no more working ?

i've tried to integration smokeping graphs with observium. i've followed the documentation and add in my config.php : "$config['smokeping']['dir'] = "/usr/share/smokeping/www/cache";" but i can't see the smokeping tab in my devices. devices in smokeping are working perfectly btw any clues?

Hi List, Has anyone got a Cisco 6500 series on observium with VRF's? I've recently been adding some cisco gear to observium and the vrf's don't get picked up. It did pick up VRF's from the pair of ASR1002 -- Regards, Darius

This is usually caused by poor network connectivity or high load on the monitored host. Adam. Quick question on Brocade VLAN interfaces

I'm running Brocade CER routers in my network at the moment. VLAN interfaces on Brocade are implemented as ve interfaces. Brocade for some reason decided not to implement interface counters for ve interfaces on the CES/CERs, so of course I don't get any utilization graphs for these interfaces. Is anyone out there running MLX or XMR? Out of morbid curiosity, do the VLAN interface octet/packet counters work on them? Thanks

Can't add first host

I have tried twice now to set this up, unsuccessfully. I have followed the walk-through for Debian/ubuntu as best I can but still can't get anything to work. I shouldn't say anything. I DO get the webpage and can log in with the user I set-up in the walk-through via command. When I go to the "Add Device" page I get a webpage error at the bottom. Linux agent port change

Hi All, I've just changed the default port for the agent from the check_mk port to a port matching our enterprise id, 36602. There's an example script in scripts/observium_agent_xinetd for xinetd. You can now just use the agent script from scripts/observium_agent. Put it into /usr/bin/observium_agent, as matching the xinetd file. Create a /usr/lib/observium_agent directory and a /usr/lib/observium_agent/local directory. Put the agent scripts you want to run in the local directly. To test it, use "telnet localhost 36602". We're still working on a method of keeping the agent up to date on clients :) For the time being the poller will check both the /new/ port and the original check_mk port, but this will be removed in the future. adam.

User interface access error

Hi all, I give my customers access to observium so they can view the traffic from my switch to their network through their port. This used to work great, but now users can't view their port anymore. I get some access denied errors. Giving access to a device still works, to a single interface not. I don't know since what version this bug exists, my customers don't check their traffic every day. Another issue is that in the "all devices" and "all ports" sections they can see all devices that are being monitored by observium, even if they don't have access to it. A small security issue here. This is all done in rrdtool, so purely graphical initially. It is possible to extract this kind of data from rrdtool in numerical form, but it's quite slow, certainly too slow to do in the poller. Also, I would say in this instance you would set a warning at 75%. Much easier :) Adam. Integration with Nagions/Smokeping - How does it work?

Hi, I am new to Observium. Downloaded it last week and got a few devices working on it. Did Rancid plug-in and now all configs show up on Observium. I also added following to config.php and have Nagios3 and Smokeping running independently on the same box. However I don't know how its supposed to show up. Rancid was obvious because of the extra tab that shows up. How does it work with nagios and smoke ping?
