Heya Adam et al, I'm trying to help the corp side of the house monitor a handful of Palo Alto firewalls (3220s/850s) using Observium, and am seeing the gptunnels and sessions graphs being alternately added/deleted each run. Alerting on custom application values

Greetings All, Can you set an alert on a value imported from a custom application? E.g, if I’m tracking the %CPU and %Memory of a specific application on a linux host, can I set an alert check on something like cpu greater 50? All graphs are working fine. I know the values are being received by Observium. But its not clear to me what the entity, or even the entity type, would be. Thanks! Regards, Phil Weller

Changing graph colours to improve readability

Hi, I sent this to the list last week but I'm 99% sure it bounced. Apologies if anyone has already seen it. ---- I'm just wondering, has anyone dabbled with getting rrdtool to use more contrasting colours for composite graphs? We have some graphs, such as peering graphs, that are made up of 15+ components, and each component is currently a nearly identical shade of green or purple, which means that even with the legend enabled it is very difficult to see which component is which. I'm imagining that instead of using shades of green, you could use a rainbow of very distinctly different colours and readability would improve. I'm interested to hear whether anyone has tried to do this before, or if it's a non-starter for some reason. hdarray script enhancement

Actually we would like to add support for some HP controllers, but to make things simpler we would need some nice output from the script. Saving changes to a large number of sensors

Hi, It seems that on a couple of Cisco ASR9k devices (with exceptionally large counts of sensors) we are now unable to save changes to them. Specifically, setting custom values and enabling or disabling alerts for individual sensors. Now, I remember that during Observium setup (a _long_ time ago) there was a step for amending either PHP or MySQL to allow a very long POST or query or something, which is required when you update a page with hundreds of boxes and buttons on it. I’m assuming either these devices have grown to the point where this setting is no longer adequately large, or perhaps the setting on the server has been inadvertently changed. Reset interface graph after upgrade the router

Hello, I upgraded our Cisco ASR router, and after the upgrade all of ports graphs cleared, so at this moment i have 4 interfaces with 2 days old graphs. I think port ID or something similar things are changed. So now i have 4 files that not touched in the last 2 days: port-19.rrd port-20.rrd port-21.rrd port-3.rrd I think this is the 4 missed graphs. The question is: how can i figure out which rrd means witch interface? From the database or somehow? What and where do I need to configure in Observium for SMTP settings so that I can receive email alerts? Any mail application better mail vs sendmail? I setup email settings in the config.php but I never receive an email. I was able to run my svn update before, but cannot anymore.

I am looking for suggestions. When I run: svn co http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/branches/stable observium it just sits there. I am behind a proxy and was able to do two updates in the past, but cannot anymore for some reason. I have verified my settings for the proxy (in ~/.subversion/servers). I would believe that was the issue, but they have not changed since a few months ago when I last updated. I thought it might be authentication issues, so I went to http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/branches/stable and can use my username and password to get in, works fine. I have removed all authentication (from /root/.subversion/auth) and put in my username and password again at the prompt, still it just sits there. Any suggetions? incorrect uptimes shown

HP PDU cosmetic bug

Hello, I am happy that the Observium can monitoring the our HP PDUs too! But i found a cosmetic problem. Here is what the PDU shows: [cid:part1.B3B09EA5.D2E13E98@emarsys.com] And what the Observium (9906) shows me: [cid:part2.3649AB3C.D055B67A@emarsys.com] So the "Total Load Feed" looks like need to divide by 10. If the mouse is over the "Power" green value (that is now 2.59kW) the popup shows me: "Normal state 64.31685344686dBm" There is any option to shows the segments too not just the summarized power feed ? Mixed authentication (subscribed version)

Hi all, I don't suppose there's any plans to do a "mixed authentication" feature? We'd like to provide granular access to customer's devices, but centralise all our logins via radius which seemingly can't provide granular access; I can log users in with a '1' permission level, but then I would need to permit access to certain devices, which I can't do since there's no DB-side record of their user id. I see lots of systems which contain an internal database of user IDs matching an external authentication mechanism which then contain the granular bits but don't think Observium does anything like this atm? Maybe even a fallback of "radius,mysql" if we expressly denied the radius auth first? Are 802.1ag or Y.1731 monitored?

I’ll be deploying some switches Real Soon Now that will be running 802.1ag / MEF OAM-CFM / Y.1731 protocols to get fine-grained as-measured QoS data about the underlying carrier. Is any of that monitored automatically by Observium? Specifically, I’m referring to the counters found in IEEE8021-CFM-MIB and MEF-SOAM-PM-MIB. I’ll be running a small enough number of Management Domains (in IEEE/MEF/ITU-speak) that I can do custom graphs if I have to… but it would sure be nice to not have to!
