Missing TenGigabit interfaces on Cisco WC-C4900M

Hi all First of all thank to the team of developer for making this program, and making it better and better everyday, love the look and ease of use. But I have run into a problem with a Tengigabit ethernet device I newly added into my Observium v. 0.12.8.3360. it seems that every thing get detected alright, except all the TenGigabitEthernet, interfaces dont show up anywhere in Observium, all other interfaces on that device gets detectet allright, and I can see the interfaces in the ports tab on the device, but not the TenGengigabit interfaces. btw: the device is a Cisco WS-C4900M Is that because Cisco WS-C4900M is not a supported device , or should I do some config changes to get TenGigabitEthernet to work ? if the WC-C4900M is not supported, how can I then contribute with information on the device , and help to then this device supported ? How to add support for new device/type?

Hello everyone, first: the mailing list archive is somehow not online: http://postman.memetic.org/pipermail/observium/ So I couldn’t have look at the archive to see if my question was answered recently. I would like to add support for my PBX (Siemens HiPath 3000 series, model 3800) to Observium. There this a file containing MIBs available and someone also did preliminary support for Nagios: https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Hardware/Network-Gear/Siemens… So I had a look at this site: http://www.observium.org/docs/developing/add_os/ The file os.inc.php doesn’t exist, but a definitions.dat instead which is a binary file. So I wonder where to start i.e. getting some kind of device template I can start with? Thanks a lot, Jens

patch: show ip associated with mac

Hi I here and there search for IP address belonging to certain MAC address. Below is a tiny patch to show that info in observium. Alerts based on a sudden increase of packets per second

LDAP/AD Groups

Hey Tom, Can you log into an AD setup you have with /debug/ and tell me what this says? LDAP[UserID][XXXXX] In our environment I had to patch ldap.inc.php to get the UID to map properly (and thus apply groups). Before that the UserID would always be -1. I'm trying to figure out if I had some bad config.php settings, or if it's actually broken and I can send you guys the patch I wrote. Solaris Filesystems not being read correctly

Good morning all, Linux nodes read fine, but Solaris is not reading the partition size correctly. Example: / partition going directly onto the Solaris host shows is to be 5.7TB Observium shows it as much smaller 1.78tb Any thoughts? Or is Solaris not fully supported? Hi, Noticed an alert checker for Telegram bots. Just recently got into Telegram. Is there any information on this? I setup my username (both with and without @) and put in the token from BotFather in the config and used test_alert.php -a 9 and it says it sends an alert. Do I need something to customize my bot to make it send messages? Thanks

syslog issue with Palo Alto Firewalls ?

Hey, So I’ve got a new installation of Observium pro up and running with 160+ devices, and everything is working as expected, with a minor exception: Syslog messages from Palo Alto boxes arrive successfully at the Centos 7 box, but are not added to the devices logging/syslog page in Observium. So far syslog messages for all other vendors are correctly added to the devices. Is there anything you can advise me to do to further diagnose whats wrong? or is there a problem with the format of Palo messages ? This is not critical to me, but i have 6 PA’s all of which are in the audit, and having the syslog of all the config changes right in the web gui along with the events and stats is a nice simple way for the auditors to get the warm and fuzzys about me not just making it all up.. it’d be great to have. I temporarily disabled the forward of syslog to Observium by commenting out “$IncludeConfig /etc/rsyslog.d/*.conf” and restarting rsyslog, at which point the below example messages successfully drop into /var/log/messages. This seems to work for everything else, so I’m not sure thats whats causing this. My hunch is that the Observium syslog parser doesn’t like the string from the Palo’s, is there a way to see logs for that (without breaking everything else) ? Authentication Failure

Hello Adam, I have found wired behavior with Observium, may be it is my configuration mistake or I am not sure. My issue, I am used login Observium GUI using admin user. After some days, when I try to login with observium I am getting authentication failed. Here I have not changed in configuration. This is happened, 3 times in last 1 month. Every time I used to rebuild the Observium. Please suggest a solution and let me know if you want any information. Regards, sathish

If it is possible I like to see the vlan's to the different devices where it is used on and perhaps we can use a hyperlink to that device. Stageing and live area

Quick question to people who may know this bit of information regarding the license. We have as company an official version of Observium. We would like to know how many time we can install the software with that key. The reason is we would like to have a operational live situation and a testing area for new devices codes etc.... Problem with RRD spikes

Dear readers, As of a couple of months now we are the happy users of Observium. And after a lot of tweaking and tunning we have a great tool monitoring our network and all of its devices. Still there are some issues we still can't work out or find any information about on the net. I'll describe as best as I can wat I want to fix. On the Observium site there is a section called Miscellaneous with a need trick to irradicate those RDD spikes. The code to use on the command line is as follow: for i in rrd/*/*.rrd; do scripts/removespikes.pl $i; done; And when I execute this code on de command line of Observium (Via Putty) I'm only getting an error message saying: -bash: scripts/removespikes.pl: Permission denied And this message a couple of times over and over again. After a short whil it stopes and nothing has been done to the spikes on the tables of Observium. So natuarly my question is what am I doing wrong, or better what file or folder hasn't got the right rights for me to execute this command. It would be very helpful if these kind of information or any kind of information was availible on the Observium website, but it isn't. And I'm very doudfull it will ever happen. So if anyone has somekind of solution it would be very helpfull. Hi all, is it possible to make the location menu nested without using geocodes? Approximateley like the geocodes are managed... For example: Switch A: snmp location "Building 1, Floor 2, Room 23" Switch B: snmp location "Building 1, Floor 2, Room 23" Switch C: snmp location "Building 1, Floor 1, Room 42" Locations ------- Building 1 -> Floor 1 -> Room 42 (2 devices) -> Floor 2 -> Room 23 (1 device) Building X ... Hello all, I have two installs and one works fine but the other that installed the exact same way shows the Custom and Defualt settings in Global Settings at the same time. You cannot click on them to change from Default to Custom. I installed the same exact way this week, but the one I installed last week works fine. Any thoughts? 'Arch -> Extension' repeating in Eventlog

Hi, Got a weird issue with one device, it's running Ubuntu 14.04.1 / 3.19.0-56 and is continuously reporting a change of Architecture (to an invalid name) on every poll. Event log for the device below: The device details show this (although without an 'n'): I have no idea what could be so unique about this device, we have plenty of systems running this OS/version and no others reporting this issue. It's a pretty basic build, environmental monitoring box. It appears to be being written by the Unix-Agent module, but I'm not clear why. I've attached the debug of the agent module which shows it setting the Arch, but, I don't understand where it gets it from in the first place? Any ideas most welcome - Cheers! We have many switches we monitor and it would be very helpful to add a description or change extend a name of a port, so we could instantly know , this port is related to workstation A101 or server B101, or Access point8, and so on. Nexus FEX power, fan and current datas?

Hello We are monitoring some Nexus 5K with FEX and some Cisco ASR 9000. We get lot of datas from ASR (power, fan speed etc etc) but not from the Nexus FEX modules. The FEX (and Nexus 5K) reports only just the temperature in the latest CE. Of course i get every enviromnent datas in CLI from the switch. Now we faced with a PSU faliure in a FEX, but i am not able to create a check becase no datas about it. In the near future can we get more datas from Nexus and FEX datas too? Thanks Laszlo

Blank page after messing with php

I have a small install on CentOS 6. I saw the message in the web interface about the php version, so I tried updating it from 5.3.3 to 5.6. I got a blank page after that. I found the tip about editing php.ini to set memory_limit = 1024M but that didn't work. I removed 5.6 and went back to 5.3.3 and made the php.ini edit again, but no luck. (Full system restart after each change) What should I look at before I decide this is the excuse I need to wipe the whole thing and go to CentOS 7?

Modify reported Custom OID Values?

Hello, I am pretty new to Observium and really love it. Right now I am adding some Custom OIDs from our devices. We are using these devices to log the power usage of our housing customers: http://www.hw-group.com/products/HWg-PWR/hwg-pwr25_M-bus_gateway_en.html There is a small problem with the reported power usage. The device reports the values a hundred times higher than they are supposed to be, e.g. 100 kWh when in fact it should be 1 kWh. Is there a way I can divide the polled values before they are stored? If not could you please add such a feature? I was able to do this in WhatsUp Gold, but I want to get rid of it :) Thanks in advance. Regards, Siegfried

Extra Pages - Can they be added?

Hi, Is it possible to create a new page so I can have extra interface summaries on it? For example my front page is set-up like this; // Front Page $config['frontpage']['order'] = array('status_summary','device_status','map','custom_traffic','overall_traffic','alert_table','eventlog'); $config['frontpage']['custom_traffic']['ids'] = "3577,3044,2964,3559"; $config['frontpage']['custom_traffic']['title'] = "xxxx Aggregated Transit & iXP Traffic"; How to I use another page with another custom traffic, is this possible?
