Alert for a specific sensor (by sensor index) doesnt work

Hello, i want to build an alert for a specific sensor, i need to check if a water input of an rlcp (cooled rack) is above a certain temperature. I manually set the "Max Warn" value in the device properties, so the sensor will throw a warning, then i created the alert Condition: sensor_event notequals ok Association (type AND) device type in Environment sensor description match *Water In* This works, but what i really needed was to specify sensors directly instead of matching the sensor description, but sadly this didn't work. I saw that you can specify the senor index in the association and i used this one from the url https://observium.mydomain.de/device/device=496/tab=health/metric=temperatu… Once i tried that, i got no check count unter the "Status / Contacts" column of the alert checker. permissions problem after update

Just finished an update that was a bit overdue (523 --> 540) and now I'm getting various errors while rendering RRD: "Draw Error" "ERROR: can not parse an empty rpn expression" "RRDTool seems to have generated an empty graph. Please ensure that RRDs are being populated for this device." While at the same time, some RRDs do render correctly. On the dashboard the message is different: "Permission error You have insufficient permissions to view this page" The poller runs as user:group "observium:obervium" I have run "chown -R observium:observium /opt/observium" out of paranoia, but it didn't help. Alert Tests instead of Alert Checkers ?

Hi, after latest upgrade i do not have alert Checkers menu anymore, what happened ? Now it is "Alert Tests" it seems a little confusing for me , is there any issue with my installation? Best Simone

Updating SNMP Configuration for Existing Devices

Hi, I am planning to migrate some of my hardware devices (rack equipment) from SNMPv2 to SNMPv3. The devices are already configured in Observium. Is there a way to update the SNMP configuration for approximately 200 existing devices without having to open each device in the GUI and manually enter the SNMPv3 settings? Thank you for your help. Observium Change Device Update API Failure

Hello, I'm using Observium 24.6.13582 (stable) and believe I've found an issue with the device update API. According to the API documentation, coordinates and location_manual can be updated using the "Changing a device" endpoint. However, while updates to other fields work correctly, these two fields do not. For example, this request works as expected: curl -u user:password \ -X PUT http://observium/api/v0/devices/47/ \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"disabled":"1"}' But these requests do not update the device and return HTTP 304 Not Modified: curl -u user:password \ -X PUT http://observium/api/v0/devices/47/ \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"coordinates":"51.509865,-0.118092"}' curl -u user:password \ -X PUT http://observium/api/v0/devices/47/ \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"location_manual":"1","coordinates":"51.509865,-0.118092"}' I've verified that: * Authentication is working. * The endpoint and HTTP method are correct. * Other fields (e.g. disabled) update successfully * Could you please confirm whether coordinates and location_manual are supported for updates in Observium 24.6.13582, or whether this is a bug or documentation issue? Cant get cron job to run

Hi all, I have taken over an Observium install and am trying to get it back up and running since most of the new devices are not in it. Every device I add I have to manually run the discovery and poller. I have checked the txt file in /etc/cron.d/observium and it reads: # Run a complete discovery of all devices once every 6 hours 33 */6 * * * root /opt/observium/observium-wrapper discovery >> /dev/null 2>&1 # Run automated discovery of newly added devices every 5 minutes */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/observium-wrapper discovery --host new >> /dev/null 2>&1 # Run multithreaded poller wrapper every 5 minutes */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/observium-wrapper poller-wrapper.py 10 >> /dev/null 2>&1 # Run housekeeping script daily for syslog, eventlog and alert log 13 5 * * * root /opt/observium/housekeeping.php -ysel >> /dev/null 2>&1 # Run housekeeping script daily for rrds, ports, orphaned entries in the database and performance data 47 4 * * * root /opt/observium/housekeeping.php -yrptb >> /dev/null 2>&1 Is it just a matter of creating this text file in this folder and it automatically runs or am I missing a step to get it to run every 5 mins etc. Thanks!

hi, I guess i am behind the times but i just realized that the big 3 cell carriers in the US are (or have already) shutdown their email to txt gateways. we rely on this quite a bit. I know we could just send emails but our techs like a txt when things are really bad. i was wondering what else others are using and what my options might be. thanks in advance.
