Hi Everyone! Is there a way to find out the date of the "first contact" with a device from Observium? I mean for example the date when the first discovery was run on a specific device, or something like this? (Currently the device's event log runs out after half a year.) Any ideas? Regards, Tylla

Signal Group Notification Transport?

I read the docs, and see this isn't something that's supported at least out of the box. I have a group chat with several people in it and would like to know if anyone has a way to send a notification. suggestion for cisco asa firewall graphs

Hi, I have been spending a lot of time with this graph (firewalls/graphs/firewalls/Remote Access sessions) and I am noticing something that does not make sense.. [cid:image001.png@01DC23D4.A70D0700] In this graph, you can see that I have 4 ssl tunnels and 13 lan-to-lan tunnels. Observium seems to be showing this as a stacked graph but I don't think that makes sense. SQL Schema Update 509 -> 510 failing

I'm experiencing an issue with the SQL schema update process and would appreciate your guidance. The schema update from version 509 to 510 is failing during the discovery process. Here's the output I'm seeing: ./discovery.php -h none -- .... 509 -> 510 # (db) (Column collations were changed from UTF-8 to Latin1 where it wasn't actually necessary)...........F. Done (6s, 1 errors). -- Done. -- Observium is up to date. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any insights or recommendations would be much appreciated. Best Helge

Small code suggestion related to the 'remote' auth type

Relatively trivial edit, but allows the "remote" auth type to have the same functionality of looking up user access levels from database that the 'http-auth' one does. Login Attempts fail on new CE install

After a basic install of the CE edition, I am unable to log into the system. I added a user via CLI and can see that user as valid within the database. When I enable debug, I can see that the system is attempting the login but when it tries to pull the userlevel from the database, it does not appear to be passing the username into the query, so it is attempting to get the userlevel of username = '' and failing. The authentication failure is correctly populating into the auth_log insertion query. See below for the output of the debug info on the login page. Is this a bug in the system or is something configured incorrectly? I can see the user with level 10 in the database. Configuring a custom dashboard

Sadly I can find no documentation on individual dashboard widgets? I want to create a dashboard with some specific graphs. Is there a widget which will display such? (I'd prefer not to have to do the "compose a blank HTML page with links to graphs" style of dashboard because of the authentication disconnect.) What is the widget used on the default dashboard to show Internet Traffic? What is "Traffic Composition?" (a.k.a "Traffic Comparison") and how do you configure it? Huawei VRP - filtering by OS Version error

Hello, After update to Observium 25.7.14103 (rolling) (14th July 2025) we see problem with filtering Huawei VRP devices by OS software. If I try to use discovered OS V200R011C10SPC600 (V200R011SPH009) as a filter parameter in result I see "No devices found Please try adjusting your search parameters". I have 7 devices discovered with this software. If I try to use discovered OS V200R019C00SPC500 as a filter parameter I am getting exact number of devices with this OS monitored by Observium. I did a rollback to 25.2.13882 (stable) (6th February 2025) where this problem isn't occurring. Is there some configuration I need to change, to be able to have working filter in new version? Widget Status - exclude "port down"

Hi guys, we have been using the payed version af Observium for many years now and are quite happy. Our Status widget has changed recently, and it now includes "port down" which is messing with our view. Many ports is down (which is ok), and they have recently been added to the widget. I hope the widget can be modified to exclude "port down" - how to do that ? The widget normally only shows down devices and when devices was reboot'd. I have tried to add the widget, and it seems to be called "Status Table (Old)" TIA. sensors and devices up down false alarms

In the last months I'm starting to get some issues I cannot debug well . I have some alert of devices up&down that are not really going down even at ping check. I'm sure that there are no network issues as we are talking about near switch devices, I'm starting to think that I need to debug if our observium is starting to "saturate" and the performance get poor. is there something I can check to find if we need to tune observium ? Or best practices tI can use ? CPU occupation graphs are kind of weird, processors occupation is different between Processors and Detailed Processors graphs : any idea is welcome Best Regards Simone

Install Script on Debian 12 error with mysql fix

I just ran the install script on debian 12 as I'm rebuilding our server. I let it install mysql via the script and it died out as mysql was unable to start. phantom sensor and status alerts

Hi, I am running pro version [cid:image001.png@01DBD0A7.1BDDACF0] today, I saw there were a couple of status alerts and a sensor alert...however, when I click on these links, those alerts are not listed, only the warning is listed.... RAM needed per number of ports

To update a server for Observium, we want to estimate the amount of RAM needed based on the number of ports. We have 30,000 ports on 650 devices. 28,000 ports are ignored (user only). We're interested in monitoring 2,000 ports. Can you confirm if 8GB of RAM will be sufficient? Or should we consider more RAM? -- Saluda cordialmente

Good day, We are considering purchasing Observium, either the Professional or Enterprise, and would like to know if it will meet our specific requirements. 1 - Will we be able to monitor the following vendors: Sonicwall, APC, Granstream (switches, PBX), Ubiquity, Netgear switches, Dell, servers, and workstations? 2 - Due to some required pro-activity monitoring, we use syslog. Can Observium handle syslog. (e.g. we need to be notified as soon as a port goes down instead of waiting for the polling cycle) 3 - We need to have the system send an alert to our ticketing system. Does Odservium send one alert per email, or does it group all the alerts into a single email? Looking forward to a reply to move forward. Thanks Rudy
